Lord knows I'm not a champion of this city, but The Franklin Institite is unique to itself and cannot be compared to a Natural History Museum. And
you'd have to go to NYC to see a better Art museum than the one in Philly.

Which cheesesteak to get? Jim's, Geno's or Pat's? That's a tough one. Try them all! When I went to visit my sister, she informed me in the snottiest tone of voice possible that "People who are actually from Philly would never eat at those places." Y'know, because she lived there for a whole year, so she knew all about that sort of stuff. She proceeded to take us to a place with the shittiest "cheesesteaks" ever, they had red sauce on them, raw onions, and no cheese. Nasty. |

My husband and son will be there in two weeks. If you're still there, go watch my son play roller hockey.

When I was in philly I was told to get a cheese steak from a cart. I did and it was good.
Philly is fun to just walk around in. We skipped the liberty bell as it didn't look worth the time. |

Dress up like Santa and go to an Eagles game. Or watch a chick flick with Mike Schmidt.

One of the "famous" cheese steak places uses kangaroo meat. It's true.

check out boathouse row if you're gonna be at the art museum - they are right next to eachother and in walking distance. you also might want to check out
the manayunk neighborhood of the city. its got a bunch of really cool bars and is definitely a good spot if your in your 20s.
to the poster that mentioned that his sister said nobody that is actually from philly gets cheesesteaks from pat's or geno's is absolutely wrong. people from philly usually ONLY go there or some other good spots. For the best cheesesteak in the city however, check out John's Roast Pork in South Philly i believe its right on Snyder ave. They are famous for there hot roast pork but their cheesesteaks are without a doubt the best in the city. They have limited hours however, and i think they are only open til 3:00 everyday, so get there early if you are planning on going. If you are looking for a cool restaurant to go to I would also reccommend The Continental, as another poster had already mentioned. There are two in the city, but the Midtown one is much better. They have a really cool top floor glass room with indoor fireplaces. The food isnt too expensive either. Its supposed to be like a high end diner. Also check out the screen in the new Comcast Center located on 17th and JFK. Its pretty cool to look at I believe from what I've heard its the largest LCD screen in the world. From there you can walk to Love Park and a little further to Reading Terminal Market for some amazing food. |

ColbyRulesAll wrote:Personally, I think Tony Luke's is very overrated. The last two times I've been there the sandwiches were so-so and the service was an absolute nightmare. They really need to ditch the ticketing system and change to some sort of quick line service that pats and genos has. Although the lines at pat and genos may look really long at times, they move quickly so don't let them discourage you from stopping. A lot of times like on the weekends or before/after phillies and eagles games the line will be wrapped around the block. worth the wait though, both places make great cheesesteaks. |

to the poster that mentioned that his sister said nobody that is actually from philly gets cheesesteaks from pat's or geno's is absolutely wrong. I'm a her, but yeah, I figured she was full of shit. She liked to act like she was "from Philly", when in reality she only lived there for about 18 months and rarely actually went into the city. Then she'd get all bitchy when I made fun of her for it. When I'd go down there to visit her she'd only want to take us to dinner at shitty chain restaurants, and when I told her I wanted to go into the city to go to a couple stores I like that aren't anywhere near me, she got all pissy and whined about how hard it was to go downtown. I think the best thing we did was go across the river to the aquarium, even though the shark tube freaked me out. |

I remember drinking pretty good Belgian beer at a few bars. And I couldn't get enough of the Gelati from Rita's Custard. All the historical places were
really nice to visit.
