he'll have to take this wayyyy downtempo and hope for the best. Walking toward the centerstage, he speak-sings the first line off-pitch, or
almost no pitch at all it seemed. He tries to work the second line, which is better although the same boring delivery. Was this a "short straw"
type of song selection, where someone had to sing it and no one wanted to? Okay, here comes the payoff. He blows right past the second line
into a very overstated anthemic melody, but actually quite apropos for a man singing this title line. He's turned it into a church song. Someone
somewhere will like this, a lot.
A 6 on balance.
Kara: When you hit your stride, like none other. The front half, was not spectacular. But the second half? Here comes Danny. When you hit those powerful notes, it's like a connection. Be careful when you're picking songs, to pick them in that range.
Poler: (Babbling uncontrollably ...) We love it but fall a little short of appreciating you. (!?) You were brilliant tonight! Carrie would not only approve, she'd go out and buy that record!
Simon: I agree with Poler. Gotta have some lightning. Can't scream the song from the beginning. (Takes issue with what Danny's wearing ... lol)
Randy: The problem with you and the verses? You gotta support those. The verses were pitchy and you gotta support them better.
