I generally hated Anoop, but this is decent and my hate for most of the others has skyrocketed past my hate for him this week.

I hated Gokey...a LOT. And I hate that song so much.
Anoop was outstanding to me. Loved the song choice, loved his tone, loved his delivery. Great job. |

Anoop Desai.
You Were Always On My Mind by Willie Nelson. Admits that country ain't up his alley. The vidclip arrangement seemed dangerously high, especially given Anoop's comment that he wanted to take heed of Simon's "change my style of singing" comment from last week. Uh-oh is all I can say before the song. Standing center stage in front of the mic, he misses the first line in an attempt at understatement, although the second line is closer. He tries to make this melodic heading into the title line, and ups the volume in a spot, as a teaser. But there's not much you can really do with this song because we all know it in our head. He tries to do something original, in a modification of the final title line, and I guess it wasn't bad. A 5. Paula: Anoop is back! He's back everybody! I'm so proud of you! It allowed you to have your interpretation. Fit you like a glove. Not like last week, it really fit! Your vocals, you got tender, honest, amazing sweet vocals. Touched my heart. Simon: Uh, you've just managed to go from zero to hero. That was a good choice of song. You know what? You took a bit of a kicking last week. Definitely you deserve to be in this show. You took good advice, did something about it, delivered a great vocal. Glad to have you back! Randy: This is the reason we wanted you in this competition. You proved it tonight. It wasn't a Bobby Brown thing. But you showed vocal skills. The arrangement was dope! Kara: Very hard to do what you did, a classic, untouchable song. The best peroframnce of the night because it was the biggest surprise! |
