Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I still like my idea better that after the big battle, the crippled Galactica ends up at Earth (the same way is fine). The remnants of the crew emergency escape the heeving and broken Galactica and land in Africa, and the Galactica floats of into the sun. The crew (100 or so) have to start fresh without technology and choose to keep their scientific knowledge away from the indiganous tribes. It would be much more plausable than 30,000+ people agreeing to send all their comforts away. The fleet that wasn't with the Galactica (unexplained) wonders off to their eventual end... I also wish that they could have had a very powerful shot of the Galactica shuttling towards the Sun. Glowing metal, fire, breaking up... sort of a funeral pyre for the old girl. 30 seconds. Is that too much? I should have wrote the frakkin' godsdamned thing.

I read that the finale and 2 or 3 expisodes will extended.

But didn't she die, get resurrected, die AGAIN, resurrected AGAIN, and then disappear?? She flew into a nova right? That's dead. Then she flew into faux Earth - That's dead # 2. Then reappeared and landed on Galactica. Dead, reborn, dead, reborn, disappeared.

At its peak, one of the greatest series ever, and at its nadir, well, a little less than 2 hours of my life that I'll never get back, but I've wasted more than that posting about the show.

Basically implying Hera dies at a young age, and then the Angels saying "Along with her mother and father". Well Jesus, then. What a messy ending, I think. All I could think while they all trudged off to their fate of attempting to hunt and live with no provisions but the land, is "Wow, that was incredibly irresponsible to drive all of your ships into the sun. You certainly are boned". It would essentially be like episodes of Survivor. So struggling and starving. Woot! Way to go!

Even with fancy nylon tents and halofil bags and neeto cooking stoves - it ain't easy. You are dirty and hungry within days. They have nearly nothing. Lee wanting to explore kinda made me laugh - I was thinking "Within a month or two, all you are going to want to do is EAT, not explore." I also thought about Helo's injury - yeah, he has antibiotics for now - but soon enough - those are gone. Good Luck with you all. A forced emergency evacuation makes more sense. But, I'm just glad they ended on Earth - so count me as satisfied too.

The article says the bones of a young woman were found, not a young girl. They were calling Hera mitochondrial Eve, the most recent common ancestor to all human life. We're her descendants. That was the point of the article. Meaning everything the Cylons and humans were hoping for (about Hera being the future of their race) came to pass. So I think it's safe to say they got their happy ending. If she died as a young woman that's only because most people died relatively young back then from what we know.

This to me is the most preposterous thing of the entire finale. Every single person agreed to get rid of every possible creature comfort, so they could root around for food and live in trees? It's not an acceptable explanation to me that they wanted to break the cycle of technology to ensure future generations would not be ruled by their creations. There's a lot wrong with that, including the fact that the creations themselves (the human-like Cylons) seem to make that same decision. I know they wanted to go to 'clean slate', but I would have preferred only some humans settling on earth, while the others take what remains of the fleet off on their own or with the Centurions. Also -- I'm not entirely clear why Adama left his son to go off on his own, for what is presumed to be forever.

Weren't they all still eating food processed from the algae planet? I think about what the situation was like with people fighting over rations, sick and starving. How many of the survivors were really living lives of luxury before finding earth 2.0? I think the most they were giving up was electricity, communications and easy transport from one place to the other. Most people probably really would give that up if it meant living on a decent planet (as opposed to a dumpy New Caprica-type place) even if it meant giving up some of the few comforts they had on the ships. Four years in space during wartime... I guess I just don't see it that hard to believe. ETA: I would've found it a lot harder to believe had they found earth not long after the first Cylon attack, however after everything that's happened, I really do think most people would opt for a clean slate than try to cling to the lifestyle they had as part of the fleet. Posts: 5783 (03/23/09 10:49 AM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Seems to me the guy running this show was obsessed with negating the theory of the original show which was that the colonies were founded by humans from our Earth and the surviving colonists' grail quest was to find that Earth and reunite with their brethren. Turning the franchise on its head by having the colonists be Earth's founders is just too trite (and also raises the question of who, then, founded the colonies - see below). How much better this show would have been if the show-runner had the imagination to envision what would have happened had the colonists, as the original series envisioned, returned to the thriving planet of their forebears. Instead, we are left with the supposition that the colonists, being relocated to Earth at the dawn of man, either are their own forebears (which requires a leap of faith using those tired sops of time travel and religion) or merely die off, never to be heard of again.

Starbuck not being explained, apparently on purpose. Weak. Why have the mystery at all? Which begs the point of the Season 3 finale, as being misdirection, rather than revelation. Right. Starbuck's dad... God? Roslin and Adama calling the new place "Earth"... even though that label will have to be re-invented later by English speakers. Pointless. Roslin made it to the Promised Land, but I guess Adama carrying her meant she didn't "set foot" on it. Ha! (Or was it something else?) To break the cycle, they got rid of their tech, although they left a shitload of Cylon-tech and active Centurians out there. And yet, the cycle wasn't broken. Nice try? Are we to believe those enlightened Centurians are responsible for the various UFO sitings and abduction reports? Tyrol's off to build Stonehenge. At least they didn't use their tech to build pyramids first. But for Hera, they all die eventually, with no descendants. Yay! Except for Helo and Athena, our lines died out! A bit of a "waa waa" for all they were fighting for. It happens to regular folk, but these guys are epic starfarers... I think it would have been funny to find a habitable planet, they land and start anew, only to have the sovereign Centurians come and nuke them 40-years-later. Maybe Kobol back in time? Or the other fake Earth back in time. Maybe both... maybe those Centurians have been pulling the strings through time, nuking colony after colony, to get things to go as "fated". The ending did diminish my desire to see Caprica. Might have skipped it anyway. Do I really need to see a "grown-up" version of Small Wonder?
