I suspect the same will happen to Ben; he'll be fixed, but at a cost. Seems fairly straightforward to me, anyway.

It seems like it's probably a ridiculously huge story that five of the O6 have disappeared on another mysterious plane crash. She can't just wander around with a new grandkid who's a few year old, no papers or anything, especially one who's somewhat famous. She especially can't take him out of the country.

We'll see if that's true. Question--last night, Richard asked if that boy was Ben Linus. Hadn't they already met, as we saw a couple seasons ago? So Richard should know him. We know he's already met some of the others. Maybe the scene we saw with them meeting happened after his shooting, but since he doesn't remember, to him it's the first time meeting Richard. Confused. Maybe I'm the one who doesn't remember....

It was about the Watchmen graphic novel (hyping for the movie I guess). Damon talked about what a huge influence Watchman was to him. His writing style (non linear storylines) is directly from Watchman. He also talked about Dr. Manhattan. Dr. Manhattan starts out as a regular joe, has an accident that makes him super human. He can see time, look forward and backwards, etc... Eventually Dr. M starts losing his humanity because of his power. He becomes incredibly detached from everything. His one tie to humanity was his girlfriend, and when she leaves he gives up and teleports to mars... Point is, if you knew the meaning of life. If you knew everything and anything, you knew how microscopic human existence is in the grand picture of everything, wouldn't you start to become detached to humanity? Perhaps what happens is, somehow the island inducts Ben into otherhood, he is healed, and is given tremoundous knowledge of life itself. Dr. Manhattan at one point says "the worlds smartest man means as much to me as the worlds smartest termite." At that point, is it really significant to purge Dharma and kill those people? They're a termite in the grand scheme of life. All the "evil" Ben does isn't evil from a certain perspective. It's meaningless if you're somehow transfused with knowledge of everything (Everything is a metaphor for what I think Ben learns as he is inducted). my 2 cents... Great post! The same logic goes for our relationship with LOST as viewers. If we knew all the answers on this show and it made complete sense to us, would any of us be watching it and coming to this board to post about it? If we knew the meaning of everything, everythign would lose its meaning. Does that make sense?

Posts: 20885 (04/02/09 10:27 AM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Assuming that Kate's motivations are on the up-and-up, I think Kate thought that she wasn't fit to raise Aaron (plus her constant fear of someone taking him away), so she felt that Aaron should really be raised by his own mother (which dovetails with Kate's new maternal instincts that had her believing that child Ben needed to be saved in spite of the monster that adult Ben becomes) or in the interim, the next best thing which would be his grandmother. And if Kate is successful in finding Claire and reuniting her with Aaron, this would add closure to the issue of Aaron being raised by "another." I read a theory at another site that Kate secretly believes that Ben has to grow up to be the smart, crafty adult that they met in 2004, because such a Ben will be instrumental in finding Claire, which makes her saving of child Ben less altruistic where he's concerned.

After leaving Jack & Ben at the marina, she stopped at a supermarket to get Aaron something to drink, and lost him when she stopped to answer her phone. When she found him, a woman who looked like an older version of Claire was leading him to the service desk.

I think that the whole deal with Daniel's birth on or off the Island may tie into the fact that later for some reason women weren't able to carry children to term on the Island.

So Richard should know him. We know he's already met some of the others. I'm assuming that this was a few years later, and Richard was just making sure. Richard probably hadn't seen Ben since their initial meeting. Maybe I missed it because the Kate/Cassidy scenes bored me to +%#$!, but what happened to prompt Kate to decide she had to go back to the island to bring Claire back? Cassidy told her she was a selfish bitch. I think it was kind of shitty for Kate to tell Claire's mom that she was alive, when she has no idea if she's alive or dead. Poor Claire's mom.
