I also loved this week's ep. Janine Turner totally nailed her part and ate it for breakfast. JD's dad beating on him and Coach & Mrs. Coach coming to the rescue was all sorts of amazing. The tea party was adorable.

Big props to NBC. They've always been a little more willing than ABC or CBS (or, gad, Fox) to keep a good but underperforming show on the air as long as
possible. And this deal with Direct (plus the goal of getting enough episodes for a decent syndication run) looks to me like the suits were actually trying to
figure out how to make this work from the money side. It's so damn easy just to pull the plug on a show nowadays that to see these green eyeshade $$%$* do
this is worthy of recognition.
It's also interesting how the final few episodes take on an entirely different feel to me, now that I know it's gonna be around for a while. |

Ok, I have to give NBC props for posting full episodes on their site. I went there to pick up the show I missed. I stayed and watched the entire first season
over the past week. Totally excellent!!! I recently purchased a wide screen monitor - so that made a big difference.
BTW - they only have commericials some of the time. If you watch early in the day, there's often none. I'm thinking advertisers buy slots and no one buys the early hours of the day. |

just had to give Tim Riggins a thumbs up as Gambit in the Wolverine movie
...cough cough...early release version hit the net today....I kept waiting for it to be an april fools joke...but damn I just watched the entire movie...minus a few CGI FX shots |

^^^ Well, you just took a few dollars out of Tim Riggins' pocket. And the boy needs the money, what with him going off to college and all. :) Seriously
though, without giving away any spoilers, is the Wolverine movie good?

Well now just wait a cotton picking minute.
I watched this on DirecTV too, but how are they going to do two more seasons of this when JD killed Coach and Mrs. Coach during his bloody rampage in the season finale? Oops. I probably should have put that in [ spoiler ] tags. <3 FNL! |

QuilaZenTX wrote:They are actually really cool. They used to live here in Chicago when he was on Inside Edition. Assuming he's married to the same chick. We used to see them all the time in a bar called Four Farthings - always playing pool there - that was kind of cool. Anyone familiar with Chicago prolly knows Old Town Art Fair. Anyway, we saw him and his wife walking around looking at art and he had his daughter on his shoulders (may 2 years old?) and honestly, my now wife turns to me and says 'holy shit, that may be the best looking family I've ever seen'. I just googled and his wife looks to have aged a bit, but she was soooo fucking gorgeous when I used to see them in Chicago. Best show on TV. Honestly, the acting on this show is sooo good it's insane. The people act EXACT the way you'd expect them to - insecure teenagers, skanky strippers, perfect depiction of a married couple. Smash's momma and Grandma Saracen should win Emmy's for their acting - awesome!! Dillon Panthers go to State tonite!!! |

Great, great episode. It's interesting how you're seeing story arcs for the seniors slowly unfold, how Coach and Mrs. Coach find themselves in the
doghouse by doing the right thing. I think that's going to be their anchor when the sh!t hits the fan. And I'm actually satisfied with their loss.
Two astonishing come-from-behind victories in the state championship game in 3 years stretches credulity, so the last minute FG was so right. And coach was
right - they'll remember this game, maybe more than the win.
I don't know if they can re-create the magic of the ensemble cast of now-graduating seniors next year... it's almost like the reverse of the final episodes of northern exposure: instead of the main character leaving and them bringing in a new lead to react to a super ensemble cast, we have the ensemble cast leaving and the main character((s) - I think that coach's family is the "main character) dealing with perhaps an entire new situation. Well, because they're the glue of this whole wonderful series, it's likely to end up better than northern exposure did. |

Interesting episode. It sucks being Coach and Mrs. Coach right now. JD's dad is still a prick.
Landry and Tyra were my favorite part of the show this week. From the preview, it looks like Tyra has an emotional season finale. I don't know what it is about her, but I've never really warmed up to her character. She still strikes me as "the lights are on, but nobody's home." SA State sounds like right where she belongs. Yeah for Matt. He deserved that send off. |

I loved Tyra's scenes tonight. Especially the one where Landry (Lance, LOL!) asked her what changed and she responded with the story about Jason Street
getting paralyzed. It was a brilliantly written response. The game scenes were great. Not upset at all about them losing. I thought it was funny though that it
was a South Texas team that won state. It's actually only happened once and that was in 1961. (I'm talking true South Texas, closer to Mexico, not like
when people are from San Antonio and say that that's South Texas, which it's not.)

Everyone is pretty awsome in this show - ITA.
I too sorta liked it that they lost - not because I wanted them to lose but because it was so damned real - like so much of the rest of this show is so real. I've watched a ton of football (college) in my life - and sometimes really good teams lose. In a way - it was such a brilliant plot device - because it was real. I think Tim going to San Antonio State is an obvious plot device to keep him close enough to Dillon to keep him as a main character next season. I think next season is going to be tricky. So many of their most amazing characters should be graduating and going to college. It would be a diservice to them to screw up all their lives (a la Smash / Jason) to the extent that they have to stick around Dillon for another two years. Gorging on the show last weekend did let me see somethings **Lyla originally had no interest in college - her plans were to follow Jason wherever he went. Vanderbelt was never mentioned. Mrs Coach was trying to encourage to think for herself and consider good colleges since she had excellent grades. Lyla gave her a blank stepford girlfriend stare. It was brilliant then. The Vanderbelt/Daddy spending all my college $$$ has been brilliant now. But inconsistent. **Tyra finally having it dawn on her what a great guy Landry is - is a repeat story arc. But, they are so brilliant together - I kinda don't mind. **Matt however, has consistently been this shy artist guy, taking care of his grandma, desperately yearning for some parental support. Tim's character too - has been surprisingly consistent. |

There are definitely actors on this show that should at least be nominated for awards - coach, mrs. coach, saracen, granny, even buddy. There is not a lot of
over the top, in your face acting, but the understated approach makes it so realistic that I just lose myself in each episode.
I really think this show has made a major rebound this year after last year's whacky plot lines. The writing has gone back to the phenomenal first year quality. Best show on tv (well, maybe tied with Dexter). For those who didn't see this season finale the first time around, jaws will be dropping and there is so much great potential to carry on the show in a different direction without the grads. While I adore each and every one of them, as long as the writers continue to work their magic and they get quality young 'uns, it should be great. |

Hopefully, Tyler Hansbrough will have as bad a game tonight as look-alike JD had last night.

Another great episode. Looks like Tyra and Landry may be getting romantic again. I love this show. Will miss it after next week's finale for this season.

Love this show.... so stoked that we will have it for a couple of years.
I was watching hoping.... "please do not make it unreal by having Landry come in for special teams and block the field goal".... it would have been very unreal. Having them lose shows that they are not looking for the standard easy storylines. Very cool |

I've thought JD looks like Hanstravel too, he has that blank stare and his mouth is open most of the time like he doesn't know what is going on around
him. Too bad they didn't lose last night but there is still hope for Monday.

Aww I was sad they lost but also appreciate that they didn't go for the cheezy cliche win too. I LOVED Tyra's explanation of what changed (specifically
Jason Street). Her admissions letter was sublime. Top notch acting/writing there.
