Carrie %#@%%**!! Says She Accepts ACM Award on Behalf of Country's Women
She Wins Entertainer, Female Vocalist Trophies; Performs "I Told You So"
LAS VEGAS -- Even in a city with a billion lights, Carrie %#@%%**!! was positively
glowing in the backstage pressroom at the Academy of Country Music Awards following her victory for entertainer of the
year, which hasn't been won by a woman since the Dixie Chicks in 2000. %#@%%**!! also picked up
the female vocalist award and performed "I Told You So"
during the ceremony in Las Vegas on Sunday night (April 5). Visibly excited, %#@%%**!! fielded questions from reporters just a few minutes after
earning the night's top trophy which became a fan-voted category last year.
How does it feel to be the first woman to win entertainer of the year since 2000? It's indescribable, to be quite honest. And I can't wait till the day -- which I hope is in the very near future -- when having females in the category is no big deal whatsoever. I would like to say that I accept that award on behalf of myself and my fans, but also I think I have to accept it on behalf of all the other women who came before that kicked butt, that never got the recognition they deserved. And on behalf of all their fans, as well, because [the fans] supported them and loved them, and [the women] never got a chance to be nominated for such an award. What did Kenny Chesney say on your way to the stage when he gave you a hug? He told me he was proud of me. I think it's really interesting. I've been on tour with three of the four other nominees. And I've known George Strait since birth, so they've taught me everything I know! (giggles) Why haven't more women been nominated in this category? I don't really know. I'm not really sure. I mean, it's definitely a male-dominated genre of music. But I think women are actually doing well. Not just myself. There are so many strong women who are selling [records] like crazy and selling out concerts like crazy. It's amazing. It's really good. What does the entertainer of the year award represent to you? That's the big enchilada. That's the one that they save until the end, and they save it until the end for a reason. When you grow up watching the ACMs, you sit on the floor and you wait for that moment when your favorite person gets up there and wins that award. It's great. It's indescribable, and the overwhelming emotions that are just -- ah! I don't know what happened, I honestly don't. I blacked out from my chair to about now. But, oh, it's easy to be emotional when you feel so much and you're so excited and happy. How are you celebrating tonight, and who are you celebrating with? My mom and my sister are here, and a lot of people I work with are here, so we're going to hang out. We're going to go to the all-star jam [an ACM-sponsored party following the awards show] and hang out and have fun and hang with fans because (in a giddy voice) that's why I won entertainer of the year. Can you tell us about the dress you wore during "I Told You So"? "I Told You So" is such a beautiful, simple song. I'm not going to get up and dance around and I'm not going to have a lot of stuff going on behind me. Because it's such a beautiful song, it sells itself. You don't need bells and whistles. I wanted to create something that was very visual. My stylist, Trish, came and showed me a picture [of the dress], and it was such an interesting concept. I loved it. People are either going to love it, or they're going to think I'm weird, but I thought it looked beautiful. I can't wait to watch it back and see how they did with all the lighting and camera tricks. I was very pleased, and I was very glad I decided to go that route. You sang "I Told You So" during two big moments already -- tonight and for your Grand Ole Opry induction. Where will the song go down in your history? I will say that it's actually responsible for three great moments in my life. I remember hearing it when I was little. It came out in 1988 when I was 5, and I just remember that song my whole life, pretty much. It's so special to me. Randy [Travis] let me sing it, let me borrow it. It seems like good things happen when I sing that song, so I'm going to sing that song every morning when I wake up and wait to see what happens. Did you think you had a chance to win entertainer of the year tonight? You never want to think you have no chance. I probably thought I had very little chance because when you're in a category with names like Kenny, Keith, George and Brad, all those, and then there's little Carrie. ... I'm very grateful to my fans that came through. They put me in this business in the first place. It's really good to know that I still have that support. |

It is nice to see Carrie speaking up on behalf of women in country music. She is right, it is a male dominated genre and for too long the women have been
overlooked.

Actually, if you posted the link to the whole article and after reading it, it's doesn't sound so bad after listing all the other "losing" sellers and numbers that separated them.

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20271675,00.html Carrie Under-Wood Grocery Shops in SweatsOriginally posted Friday April 10, 2009 11:55 AM EDT
Carrie Under-Wood just took home the Entertainer of the Year Award at the ACMs, so what's it like for fans to meet her now? "I think they're disappointed," Under-Wood says on the April 14 episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. "I do my grocery shopping kind of late at night. There's nobody really there. I can probably wash the makeup and I'm in a ponytail, glasses, and my sweatpants at the grocery store, and people won't tell me, 'Are you Carrie Under-Wood?' They'll say, 'Wow, you look like Carrie Under-Wood' Because Carrie Under-Wood wouldn't be at the Harris Teeter [at] 11:00 o'clock at night in her sweatpants." The 26-year-old country star joins Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker and Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles to perform and discuss their lives with Winfrey, dishing about everything from childhood dreams to their love lives. "It's really strange," Under-Wood says of dating in Hollywood. "I mean, you're under a microscope, and even if you start - you're getting to know somebody, you just met them - they have you married off next week, you know what I mean? So it's a little difficult and it's a little difficult to know people's intentions." Under-Wood is keeping it as simple as possible with her low-key relationship with NHL star Mike Fisher. The two have been seeing each other for a few months.

It's actually not surprising that Carrie's issue of Elle sold the lowest because that magazine has gone down the shitter w/in the past year, so it
makes sense that January has the most and December has the least.
Reading the article, more than half the worst-sellers were December magazines. That must be a down-time for them. |

Newbie, it's obvious the only reason Matt brought there article here is to dig at Carrie. Since Yelly is his fav, i can dig back and save you a post. If I post in the Yelly thread, which is boring to do, I fully expect a dig back. |

COVERING THE WINNERS AND LOSERS: Beyond the cover lines and the fashion credits, there's that celebrated face that can make or break a
magazine's newsstand sales. And if that face is a brunette with a handsome husband and a family the size of a farm team - or wife of an international
soccer star - chances are she helped sell the most magazines last year.
A search of numbers from the Audit Bureau of Circulations found that Angelina Jolie, Victoria Beckham and Lauren Conrad were among the most salable cover faces for fashion monthly titles in 2008, while Nicole Kidman, Carrie %++!#$*$*, and Rachel Weisz were the least. That said, the losers shouldn't bear the entire burden: Several of the worst-selling issues fell in January, which is typically a soft month for newsstand sales, or around the holidays, when consumers were dealing with more pressing economic concerns. At Vogue, the October issue with Weisz on the cover was the magazine's poorest seller, with 276,000 copies, while September, unsurprisingly, was Vogue's best seller at 559,000 copies. The fat fall fashion issue featured Keira Knightley. At Elle, Beckham was the title's best-selling subject last year. Her January cover sold 413,000 copies. The worst was December's %++!#$*$*, registering 253,611. Jolie's July cover of Vanity Fair and her November cover of W were the titles' best sellers for the year. Vanity Fair's July issue sold 504,785 single copies, while W's November issue moved 78,000 issues. "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl was Vanity Fair's slowest seller, selling 314,000 copies in January. Hilary Swank was the worst performer for W, compounded by the January timing, selling 27,000 on the newsstand. In Style's March issue with Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria Parker outsold the rest of the year's copies, with 888,912. The underperformer was July with Anne Hathaway at 585,170 issues. Marie Claire's best seller was July, thanks to the magazine nabbing the stars of "Sex and The City" ' for its cover as the movie hit theaters. The issue sold 440,948 copies. The December issue featuring Jennifer Connelly was the worst performer, with 191,000 copies. Harper's Bazaar sold 213,195 copies of its March issue when it put bad girl Lindsay Lohan on its cover, but Drew Barrymore didn't fare as well. Her November cover sold 119,501 copies. Lucky's September issue also sold best for the shopping magazine - repeat cover subject Milla Jovovich sold 336,000 issues. But its June issue with Amanda Peet registered 205,000 copies. At Glamour, Jessica Simpson's June issue sold 775,000 issues, Glamour's best of the year. Kidman was not as appealing: Her December cover sold 460,000 copies - the worst single-copy sales in recent history for the title. Cosmopolitan sold nearly 2 million copies with Scarlett Johansson in August. But while country-music-singing Simpson fared well for Glamour, she was Cosmo's worst seller for the year when she appeared on its December issue, which sold 1,565,128 copies. Though Longoria Parker and Johansson were best sellers for In Style and Cosmopolitan, they fared the poorest for Allure. The duo fell victim to the economic downturn: They appeared on the November and December issues of the beauty title, which both sold 190,000 copies each. Allure's best seller? Beckham once again - her August cover sold 273,000 copies. "The Hills" star Conrad was the best seller for Shape, selling 447,969 copies in January, and Jennifer Lopez was the best seller for Self in September (376,000 copies), as the mother of twins was training for her first triathlon. But fewer readers were interested in Renée Zellweger and Kelly Ripa. Zellweger was Self's worst seller in October, selling 254,000 copies. The November issue of Shape, featuring Ripa, sold 258,200 copies. |

The article clearly states that Jessica Simpson, Eva Longoria, and Scarlet Johannson all had covers that were the best and worst for the magazines. It goes to show that the person on the cover really doesn't make that big of a difference. |

Not to question your intelligence since you appear to be one of the "smarter" yelbots, you clearly don't get the history of your peers invading this thread and their purspose. If them yelbots choose to bring up smack here, I clearly have the right to respond in kind and in a way that hits them where it concerns. Given their posting habits, it clearly has to do with Yelly.

Shyster wrote: thank you for the compliment shyster. but i do confess, i have not gone through this thread in its entirety because it is much to extensive. i didn't go through "yelly's" thread either to see your posting habits there. so i will ask you this, is it safe to assume you are not an instigator of this poor behavior on the part of kelly fans? is it completely without provocation? not that it matters one way or another. it seems to me that it's a waste of time to attempt to "get at" the kelly fans in this thread because common sense would say that if what you say about their favorite actually bothered them they would just stop posting in this thread, especially since you indicate that you don't actually post in kelly's thread. as for chart information being useless, i tend to find that stuff very interesting. i wish there was information on carrie's chart stats in this thread more often. i mean, i'm much more interested in how many albums/singles she's sold than how many magazines :) |
