As far as I'm concerned, this is bullshit. Last season one of the legs was in Auckland, New Zealand which is where I live. They went up Mt Eden and there were all these Maori warriors there doing the haka in traditional outfits. This does not and will not ever happen in Auckland. There are no "traditional" Maori's as they showed in that episode up Mt Eden or anywhere else in Auckland for that matter. I laughed out loud when I saw that because it it just sooooo far from usual Auckland customs and traditions. They were just showing people what they wanted to see or what the typical "postcard" opinion of New Zealand is. I'm surprised they didn't let thousands of sheep loose around the city streets when they were looking for the Travelocity gnomes. And from other places and countries that I've lived in and visited for extended periods of time that have also featured on The Amazing Race I'd say the same was true.

Most of the "culture" we see on The Amazing Race is totally fabricated and orchestrated to make the place seem more exciting - especially when they visit big urban, English speaking, Western world cities like Auckland.
