She died two weeks after Edward was born...but I don't know that they'll choose that route.

The C section rumor is untrue although I could see the producers going that route. Jane died of puerperal fever or childbirth fever which turns into puerperal
sepsis. Basically just a really bad infection that develops after childbirth due to poor medical care and hygiene used during the birth. A HUGE proportion of
women back then died during childbirth for the same reason, more peasants than royals of course but still overall health care was obviously not as advanced
causing many women like Jane to contract such an infection. Henry's last wife Katherine Parr died of the same thing after giving birth to Thomas
Seymour's (Jane's brother) child.

So did Henry's mother Elizabeth of York.

much of it was caused by poor handwashing/hygiene on the part of physicians. In particular, physicians who might go straight to a delivery after having
performed an autopsy (common among male physicians, not so by female midwives -- although by our standards, midwives were none too clean either)
Just another useless factoid learned in a Liberal Arts Education..... |

McWolcott wrote:Well, okay, they could have made him charmingly precocious like Octavian in Bruno Heller's Rome. But why the fuck would they call the show The Tudors when they're not continuing the series past Henry VIII? They should have just called the show "Shallow Hal". Spoiler since I've already watched the 4th episode: |

Well, it was never intended to be about anyone but the life and loves of Henry VIII
Plot summary for the show itself when it was announced "This costume drama features England's splendid Renaissance dynasty under King Henry VIII" |

McWolcott wrote:<Throws temper tantrum> Well dammit, what historical drama can I watch after next season? I had to wait 16 months between Season 1 and Season 2 of Rome and then they canceled. At least the Tudors is moving on with the fourth season. Maybe I'll try to watch Kings after Season 3 of the Tudors ends or at least have the first season waiting to watch on Netflix. |

Poor Jane Seymour is dead: bring on the homely Anne of Cleves. According to this link, Henry didn't even want to fuck her.
Can't wait for Cromwell to kiss the chopping block. |

This was the best ep so far of the season by a mile.
Can't wait to see Cromwell get his head chopped off. He's a dick. |

Damn, sad I don't have Showtime any more. Gonna have to DVD season 1 to try to get back into this.

Episode 5 was a snoozer although the emotional jousting between Henry VIII and his fool was intriguing; they should have had the Fool as a regular during the
series. The Sir Francis pirate is a weak character, and thier only using him to set up the conflict with the Pole family.
I can't believe there are only eight episodes. I would think a cable series would at least produce 12 episodes, but I'll take what I can get. I going to assume that they'll make the transition for Anne of Cleves to Catherine Howard by episode 8 since they have three more wives to go. |

He's 100% sexy, I know that much. You gotta love a guy who was known as the Vicar Of Hell.
Last night's ep was freaking great, esp Henry and the Fool. And Cromwell looking like he swallowed his own tongue when he realized he's fucked.
