I do. Parachuting in can cause injuries. It was a lightning strike that forced them to parachute out.

Right, and im saying Faraday, Miles, and Charlotte ending up on that island...with no boat, plane, or helicopter with them...was always supposed to happen. The
same way the people in 815 landed there and the people in the black rock landed there and danielle landed there and so on.
If you remember, Faraday Miles and Charlotte parachuted in with gps transponders. They used their transponders to signal back to the freighter, which signaled back to the island, thus allowing all the rest of the freighties to reach the island...which wasnt supposed to happen. No Desmond saving Charlie, no Charlie stopping the jamming system at the Looking Glass, those transponders would have been useless...which is probably how it originally was supposed to go. |

phantomkp wrote:That makes a lot of sense. It wasn't until after Naomi was killed and they made it to the radio tower to turn off the French chick's message that Lapidus and other freighties (namely the one that killed Alex - can't think of his name right now) came. If Des hadn't saved Charlie then turning off the radio message wouldn't have done anything because the Looking Glass would still have been jamming the signal. So, Des saved Charlie but, in a way, killed Alex and Alex wasn't supposed to die and Ben somehow knew that. eta: Desmond = Variable?

Welcome!
Jack: As a matter of fact Dan, it was your Mother.
Dan: And how did she convince you Jack? She tell you it was your...destiny? Jack: That's exactly what she said. Dan: Well I got some bad news for you Jack, you don't belong here at all. She was wrong. I'm so confused.... |

Im gonna read that as Faraday, who has always been a believer of destiny, fate, and not being able to change anything that is supposed to
happen...after his trip...has a new found purpose to prove that destiny is not fixed and that you can make your own fate (or others) different from what it
was.
And maybe hes now at odds with his mom who still firmly believes it. (chastises Desmond about it no less!) So hes coming back to tell Jack he doesnt have to be there to do anything...if he doesnt want to. But then again, that would go against the Faraday we hear in that Chang video that hasnt happened yet where Faraday is saying forget it, it wont work, it wont change anything....so its defeatest Faraday again. Oh well, im confused too :P |

Actually, i replied based on your transcript...now that i actually watched the video...Daniel's reaction leads me to believe he feels his mom lied to Jack
about him needing to go back.
Which means Faraday's mother may not be all about trying to keep fate and destiny in check at all...she might have been trying to subvert it all this time, thats her goal. She just pretends to other people that shes trying to course correct fate... So when she went back to Desmonds "past" and told Desmond he wasnt supposed to buy the ring, hes not supposed to marry Penny, hes supposed to be on a boat in the future, crash on the island, and press the button...its his destiny...maybe she was lying to try to get him to do it? Maybe she wants Desmond to be on the island because hes special and can change whats supposed to be, because thats what she wants. lol ok, yea, im officially confused now :P |

Is it possible Daniel is the variable and not Desmond? Is Desmond even in this episode??? From what I saw in the sneak peaks, Daniel has moved
away from "whatever happened, happened". He's trying to change what happened.
What about Jack being the variable? Daniel told him it wasn't his destiny. If that's true, his presence could make some kind of change that wasn't supposed to happen? But if Jack was never supposed to be back on the island, then that makes a whole damn season of "you gotta go back!!!" pointless. phantom - What reason would Eloise have to lie to Desmond or Jack? Confused again. |

Yeah, I could see Daniel being The Variable now.
So Rose and Bernard are back. What's up with young Kate and young Juliet? Who is young Tom?? (Kate's old b/f?) I was thinking Mr. Friendly. |

Kate's childhood friend was also named Tom... the one who she hid the time capsule with.

The fact that Christian, who was speaking on behalf of Jacob, told Locke to go to Hawking and bring everyone of them back leads me to believe that coming back
was the right thing... Even though we know nothing of Jacob, I find it hard to believe he's going to be wrong about anything.
I think Daniel is wrong and crazy tbh. Last time we saw him he was kinda nuts. Is he a reliable source of info anymore? |
