Carrie Underwood - Platinum & Play On Era - #1 Album and #1 Singles

a tale of caution for the Carrietards to consider: Clay first album was pretty big (almost 3 million)...2nd album sold about half the first...third album sold about half the 2nd and then 4th album sold not even 1/2 the 3rd and then BAM dropped from the label.

Carrie doesn't have to worry so much. She is doing fine. Yelly might want to take heed though. How big a drop did she take from album two to album 3? And now album 4 is selling as poorly as album 3 even though the record company had to have spent an insane amount of money on promotion with the big blast on the internet to try and generate buzz, all the payola, the free concerts and the two videos and sending her all over Europe to promote it.

hush, don't remind them that this one was uber promoted as the lack of promotion was why MyDildo was it's downfall. they better set up more country fair concerts asap. Those are the events where people are ALREADY PRESENT at thus a built in audience to pull from.

Kelly took quite a drop with album 3 but as you can see the label is fully behind her for album 4 and that will make all the difference.... It must suck to be a superstar that is so popular in Europe huh? I mean Taylor Swift just did a massive publicity tour in Europe too.... where is Carrie's overseas promo? oh yeah, there isn't any cuz she's just not popular enough to warrant spending the money to send her over there......the U.S. can be such a confining market....it's really great when your favorite artist has a broader reach than just within their own boarders....but, I know, you carrietards don't know anything about that.

Too bad Kelly didn't get massive sales what with her massive publicity tour and all. There is a huge population out there and all Kelly sold was about 300K albums over and above what she sold in the U.S. Someone like Avril is a superstar - her last album hit #1 in 12 countries. Kelly only hit #1 in the U.S. Taylor might have done a massive publicity tour but her album didn't chart all that well in Europe either.

Yeah, AIEW is doing awfully overseas. My Disaster sold over 3x as much as it did in the US, but AIEW has sold about 1.5x as much. She's losing the worldwide factor too lol...

So, we just lied and said we custom-make all of George Strait's boots and that we had an exclusive contract with him.

Well, then they got real interested. So, we said, "Matter of fact, in the trunk of the car in the parking lot, we have next year's unreleased, exclusive, signature-series, white ostrich quill boots, if you want to see them." They were like, "Can we? Can we?"

So, at the awards, I said, "The point of the story is me and my brother got lucky that night. Thank you, George." He was in the audience.

JG: Is that true? I thought I knew all your (moves). OK, we can do another movie -- if you've still got that in there.

MM: So, then I gave the award to Carrie Underwood and she said, "I'd like to see those boots." Well, it was hilarious. Big laugh, everyone in the whole stadium. It was cute . . . really kind of adorable.

It would be great if that happens as it's really one of the best vocals she has done during live performances. It's a remake and I just figured this could be the one that broke the streak. Cool if it happens though!

I didn't see this going #1 because it was a remake either. And this song is really breaking her out of her shell (IMO) during performances.

no you didn't read it wrong maddx. They like to pretend DFTRM went #1 cuz it reached #1 on Radio & Records but at the time that wasn't the chart used for Billboard. DFTRM peaked at #2 according to Billboard.

I'm not sure what makes Dic think it's about to go #1 considering that Rodney Atkins is currently at #1 with a HUGE bullet and right behind Carrie are songs that are moving up pretty fast, such as Sugarland, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban.

the way country radio tracks their songs is beyond ridiculous because they go by AI and not spins....so a song that gets played a lot on one or two massive stations with a large audience can chart better than a song that gets played more all over the country. but it looks like Jason Alden will be #1 this week.

Not saying she won't hit #1 but right now she's ranked #4 on R&R with a +1.00 in AI while Rodney is still # 1 with a +2.415. Brad Pasiley has +2.908 and sugarland +2.010.

Next update is on Friday for R&R so it's a wait and see game as to how the numbers shake out.
