That was so great. I'd love to see the show go on, but it doesn't seem likely.

Actually Bill Lawrence said on his scrubs ramblings blog on ABC that he is in for the spinoff, and Zach also said in an interview that he would come back for a
couple of episodes.
I LOVED seeing Stephanie D'Abruzzo (from the musical) and Hooch in the hallway lineup. I missed seeing Ben and Dani. And I HOPED to see Mandy Moore. :) |

It looks like "Scrubs" may have more lives than "According To Jim" after all!
The busy James Hibberd over at the Hollywood Reporter relays that a ninth season of the medical sitcom has been ordered, with Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke coming back for six episodes. Co-stars Donald Faison, John C. McGinley and Neil Flynn have also closed deals to return (contingent, one assumes, on their pilots not being picked up in the coming week). No word yet on how many episodes have been ordered, nor if the sitcom will %%$$@ into a studio-audience show (as rumored). ABC announces its 2009-2010 plans Tuesday. |

I wish Kylie would've made an appearance. She was far and away my favorite girlfriend of JD's (except for Elliott, I guess). Most people probably
wouldn't remember her, though, her run was so short and she didn't have a particularly memorable storyline like Mandy Moore did.

The finale was great. Honestly though, this show just was never the same probably after season 5. It was way overdue for this show to end. The only reason I
continued to watch it was because I had already committed 5 seasons to it.

Neil Flynn's show, "The Middle" was picked up. So no Jan Itor at Sacred Heart, unless he can do double duty.
I'm surprised the stories are saying Judy Reyes *might* guest star and that so far she "hasn't been approached". That's cold. It's going to be interesting to see how the interns do on their own. |

Yeah it's weird to have Turk there but not Carla.
I'm not actually thrilled by this. I loved the finale, especially as a series finale. This feels like "AfterMASH". |

OK, I'm in the minority here, but I'm loving it that I might get another season of Scrubs!!! But then again, I'm easily amused.

Scrubs: Is Sarah Chalke Returning?
Los Angeles (E! Online) - Is the quirky and adorable Dr. Elliot Reid scrubbing back in for the ninth season of the hit ABC series? The short answer? She's still not sure. But the long answer is more fun anyway, right? The lovely Sarah Chalke is one busy lady. She's making the rounds promoting her new Lifetime miniseries, Maneater. She's still a shoo-in to drop by CBS's How I Met Your Mother. And, unfortunately, she's also still up in the air about that offer to return to ABC's just-renewed Scrubs. "I actually don't know yet what I'm going to do, but I will very soon. You guys will be the first to know," says Sarah. "Regardless, I'm excited that the show got picked up again and it's going to go another year." So there you have it. Nothing set in stone yet, but what Sarah said next about what was presumed to be the series finale of Scrubs and where she might end up next may surprise you... A big reason Sarah might be hesitant to sign that season nine contract? Her new Lifetime miniseries, Maneater, is already being considered to go the way of Debra Messing's The Starter Wife and be made into a series of its own. Sarah spills, "I think the setup on Maneater kinds of lends itself to that because you've got the close group of girlfriends, sort of a Sex and the City." (More on Maneater next week.) Since the eighth-season ender of Scrubs was intended to be the last, the finale finally gave the fans the Jelliot conclusion we always wanted-and Sarah agrees. "I loved the finale. I'm a romantic at heart and I always thought J.D. and Elliot should end up together; I was really happy with how things ended up." Ditto! What about the series finale as a whole? "It was really cool getting to see a little bit into the future. And I loved that all of the guest stars came back. To have that day where you have a hallway of people who had guest-starred over the years, it really was a walk down memory lane." We know that many of you have mixed feelings about the show coming back with a new format and different characters in place of our old faves, but Sarah is just grateful that the show we all knew and loved was able to bow out at all. "After the writers' strike we didn't know what was going to happen. We thought it might just end on some random, middle-of-the-season episode that would just be it for Scrubs forever," the actress explains. "That would have been such a tough way to have it end. The fact that we got to finish up that season and do a whole eighth felt like such a gift. Bill got to really end the show the way he wanted." And unlike with that show about the town on a hill with one single tree-ahem, we won't name names-Sarah is nothing but grateful for everything Scrubs has done for her. "It was the best job I've had. I got it two months after I moved down here, so a huge piece of my L.A. experience has been on Scrubs. We all felt that we were lucky to have that rare combination of enjoying your character and loving the writing, but also really liking the people you work with." Sarah's not counting out working with some of her Scrubs costars in the future either, including The Janitor's new ABC series, The Middle. "Neil Flynn is one of the funniest people I've ever worked with. I would love to guest on his show and I'm very excited for him that it got picked up." Yes, we admit that it sounds as if she's feeling good about finishing up Scrubs and moving on, but we'll just have to wait and see where Sarah ends up on our TV's next season. One thing's for sure, we'll definitely be able to find her somewhere-even if it's not in our favorite fictional hospital. Now you're up! What do you think of an Elliot-less Scrubs? |

Well, this is a doozy...
http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/06/scrubs-moving-from-hospital-to-med-school.html Scrubs boss Bill Lawrence said his cancellation-defying comedy would undergo an extreme makeover in its ninth season, and, man, he wasn't kidding. When the show returns next winter, the action will shift from the hospital to the classroom and make med-school professors of John C. McGinley's Dr. Cox and Donald Faison's Turk. "It'll be a lot like Paper Chase as a comedy," Lawrence tells me. "It's going to be a different show. It'll still be life-and-death stakes, but if the show is just Scrubs again in the hospital with a different person's voiceover, it would be a disaster and people would be mad." Of course, Sacred Heart won't go away altogether. Although J.D.'s old stomping ground no longer will serve as the show's base of operations, the students will occasionally rotate through its halls -- and bump into many of its familiar faces. In addition to McGinley and Faison, both of whom are expected to be full-time regulars alongside a quartet of newbies (most of them playing students), Scrubs vets Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes and Ken Jenkins have agreed to make guest appearances. (Neil Flynn has a costarring role as Patricia Heaton's husband in the new ABC sitcom The Middle, so his name-challenged Janitor will be MIA.) "Med students in their first three years have to spend anywhere from 10 to 50 percent of their time at a hospital," Lawrence explains. "And that's when you'll see some of the [original cast members]. Continuity-wise, Sacred Heart will still exist with those people still working there." But Lawrence insists "half the cast, if not 60 percent of it," will be comprised of freshmen, one of which will be more recognizable than the rest. "[ABC] is really after us to hire a big name," he reveals. "So one of them will be fairly famous." |

Thanks for the info! I'm not worried. I have faith that Lawrence will make it work. I am saddened that we will get less of the newbies from last season,
however.

I'm very glad it's not a retread in the hospital. This to me justifies its continuation.

Scrubs Season 9 Press Release:
ABC ANNOUNCES THE SEASON PREMIERES OF "SCRUBS" AND "BETTER OFF TED"I'm of two minds on this. On the one hand, I completley trust and believe Bill Lawrence when he says the show is going to be different in tone, I really do. He cares about the product as much as anyone and I think he is smart enough to realize that the same ole', same ole' would not only be unpopular among the die hards, but also probably wouldn't attract much of an audience. I have faith in that aspect. On the other hand, I don't like that they are seemingly promoting Zach and Sarah as series regulars. Now, from what I know, they aren't, both are signed on for 6 episodes, but if for some reason that has changed, or even if it hasn't, I have mixed feelings. Zach Braff is Scrubs, no doubt about it, but the first era of Scrubs had such a picture perfect ending, I don't want anything to tarnish it, and I know I'm not alone. Zach coming back for 6 episodes wasn't too bad, but then you find out it is for the first 6 episodes. Now, it sounds like he (and Sarah) may be doing even more on top of that. I guess true judgment on the series really has to wait until we truly see what the show is. Like I said, from what I understand about it, it will be different and sounds like it can be very good. I don't know though, I have my concerns. |
