<3 at the amount of crying in this thread calling Taj out about her crying

Oh, for fuck's sake. The only reason for all this bitching and moaning is because Taj is a woman. Nobody here would be saying shit if she was a man who left a child behind for 39 days. She didn't leave her kid at fucking Ponderosa - she left him with his father.

And you know what? If I had a not-for-profit charity and I wanted it to get some massive exposure and hopefully some donation money coming in along with any of the money I earn, I think a show like Survivor is a fantastic way to do it. So Taj is a selfish bitch for wanting to her DOMESTIC ABUSE CHARITY on a worldwide stage? Would it be better if she was playing for the Whiny Ass Sucksters Foundation, filled with a bunch of intarwebz dragon slayers who wouldn't last two hours out in exile without your laptops and Cheetos? Here's a thought: if nearly all of the players react as Taj does year...after year...after year, maybe it's tougher than it looks.

She certainly seems to be suffering behind it, doing proper penance. But 39 days really isn't that long for a shot at a million dollars. Just staying there every day is making the check bigger, even if she really is out at F3. Plus she and JT are probably neck and neck for the fan favorite money (if it still pops up this year).

This is so totally not the forum for this discussion, but what I think is most important about Taj is that she is a woman who has been through so much. Grew up virtually homeless, father dies when she's nine, her stepfather is beating her mother, who is dead by the time Taj is 14, so that moved her into a house where she's being molested and to escape that, she moves in with a man who beats her...I mean, DAMN. My point in mentioning all that is that women tend to get the kind of abuse survivors (and I hate that word but I haven't slept in 4 days) who are very solemn and practically wear it on their chest that I AM A SURVIVOR and whatnot. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that - you have the right to recover as you choose - but it is so fucking refreshing to have an alternative like Taj. It's downright inspirational, especially if you've have those kind of things happen to you and you get to watch "one of us", so to speak, doin' the damn thing.

With Taj's personality, you would never suspect she had endured any of the above, much less of it before age 20. And when it was all over and she got the fine husband and the fat rock and the big house, she could've just said "fuck it, that's over and this is my life now" and nobody would've ever suspected a thing. For her to be willing to put her own face on the issue of domestic violence and say "yeah, it happened to me" is very wonderful of her to do - and Eddie for letting her do so. Men can be kind of funny about this kind of thing, so I'm glad he supports her and what's she trying to do. Taj leaving her son for 39 days for the chance to help a whole lot of sons and daughters and mothers, as far as I'm concerned, is anything BUT heartless. I'm sure we all remember when our parents made sacrifices and we came out okay, and so did they. So hats off to her.
