I must say that if Coach falls out when he is on the highest peg, and then hits his ankle against the other pegs as he goes down it would probably hurt like a demon. Would it be a game ending injury? I don't think so (because of Taj's comment that he is a drama queen) but I wouldn't put it past him to play it up if he thinks he is going down at TC. Would give him a "save face" excuse if he is voted out. I wonder what his infallible intuition is telling him now? LOL

Just adding to the mix: Coach injures himself (real or imagined) either at RC or on EI. While on EI he finds his dragon cane and spends EI time taking off the bark (bare dragon cane tip in bench shot) The ground or Coach's feet cannot be seen in the EI sand meditation scenes to know if he has the cane with him will meditating. At the IC, Coach walks in from EI limping, grimacing in pain, and using the dragon cane. Tribe members are shown with various expressions of concern/disbelief on their faces. Jeff asks what happened. Coach probably goes into a long involved story of a past injury being aggravated. Jeff tells Coach that if he isn't able to participate in the IC, he's out of the game. "The Martyr Approach" - Coach says no matter how painful, he will participate - "Warriors don't give up, no matter how bad the pain." (It will be easier for him to accept being voted off/not winning because his body gave out than because of personality traits. ) The bench scene with Coach, in apparent pain and clutching his dragon cane, is before the IC while the tribe is getting ready. To add to the drama, Coach, without the aid of the cane, hobbles toward the challenge before everyone else. He either falls on the way to the panels or falls while stepping up onto the platform. If the fall happened before the IC, it could possibly explain why at first no one is around Coach and also why in the group clips of everyone around the fallen warrior, Erin still has her shoes on and both JT and Stephen are seen with canteens...they were all at the bench in various stages of getting ready for the IC and then went to his aid. I could be just seeing things, but look at the platform in the background of the group shots with Coach on the ground. Has a little "magic" been done to the photos? There appears to be a vertical blur on the board above the "C" in Coach. If you look at the clips of the challenge that Yau-Man won, there were ropes hanging down at the beginning for them to use to get into position. Is the "vertical blur" the bottom of a rope? The ropes in the previous same challenge were shorter, but maybe this time they go all the way to the platform. Can't really tell whether any "magic" has been done on the shots with the group helping Coach up. There are a couple that are questionable, tho. Sure hope this is coach's last stand...err fall.

It could be in discussions about whether to consider keeping Coach because he wouldn't be able to compete (at his "full strength") in the final four challenge or is Coach making much ado about nothing. Personally, I think that Taj is spot on calling him a "drama queen." which makes me suspect that Coach is not above faking the severity of his injury. Coach has nothing to lose by doing this and everything to gain. He could hope that the pity factor would enter in (along with the now he can't compete at 100%) to any voting delibrations and he may escape gettting voted out. In his mind, he would have "outwitted" Taj/JT/Stephen if they believed him and kept him around. The second reason is that if he does get voted out then he will have an "excuse" as to why the Dragon Slayer didn't win the game. Win/win situation for Coach to play up his "injury." Taj's comment leads me to believe that ultimately JT/Stephen/Taj don't buy the story. If, in fact, Coach is playing up the injury for the first reason, I am suspecting that based on the other portions of the promo that JT/Stephen are "humoring" Coach about his injury. Stephens comment about feeling sorry (or something like that) could not even be related to the injury but a general comment on Coach in general... Come on - wouldn't/didn't you feel sorry for Coach when his "loved one" was his Assistant Coach? The promo playing up the "faking it angle" leads me to believe that Erinn will be set up as the bootee but Coach will be blindsided. (Which I guess means that I don't think Erinn wins the IC... so I suppose I'll go along with JT)

If Coach fell before the challenge, his staff would have to be near him. You dont see the stick while he's on the ground, nor is anyone carrying it for him. So the challenge was underway, or over by this point. I suspect the battle was between JT & Coach, and when Coach falls JT jumps down and tells Stephen to bring some water. Stephen grabs both bottles, and hands one to JT. Meanwhile, Erinn remains on the bench to put her shoes on, then strolls over to watch the show.

I'm only asking b/c I didn't see where we knew this for sure. When you look at the buff/bandana, the pattern placement seems to match Stephen's. (Right?) I was wondering--If Coach really did injure himself, like a twisted ankle or anything with physical proof, are the producers of the show allowed to suggest he might be faking?

No you aren't seeing things but for the life of me can't understand why they would blur that --- The rope (is that a rope or wood?) that we see behind Coach (and JT) which comes down and ends up around the middle (as you said it ends just above the "C") is not there in the promo There is a wood piece that is now flush up against the yellow part that isn't there also in the larger shot when they are all up there. Weird. Heh, if you keep watching the promo also, when they are helping him up, I can't find the damn piece of wood at all. I still think that Coach's OOOWAHHHH! during the challenge signals his descent into self proclaimed injury and he falls off. The position of the way he is laying doesn't appear to be coming from the bench although I can see him relating that he was hurt at EI like you suggested Time out so the "cane" is available and ready for his closeup. Then he can grimace and moan up there and fall . With the way the pegs are for the legs, how much would Coach have to have straightened his arms to be comfortable if his legs are the rung lower than the one shown above? Here we can't see Taj any longer but Coach's elbow is still pretty bent so he may still be on the top rung and when he moans, it appears the same way so Taj may have already been eliminated and at least Coach didn't even drop down a rung.

There's one at the other corner behind Stephen, as well as orthogonal braces to the side. From the press photo, there may or may not be similar braces behind each of the other box sides. We only see the ones at the far end because they are at a tiny angle to us. With Ben on the ground, we can see that yes, each box is braced. I don't think he could have fallen straight off and landed like that, either. Looks more like he came off the aparatus and collapsed. He's not fainted, at least at this point, cause he clearly has muscle tone.

That is why I think he lasts long enough to get to the next peg at least. Once the challenge starts no one still in the challenge should go to coach unless they want to lose. No sunshine on face, nor shadows Could be screaming as he steps down to the smaller peg.

Posts: 45 (05/11/09 7:43 PM) Registered user More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	In the Coach weight-loss spoiler, it said that Coach was seen on December 12 (scary that I remember the date) and he had lost a lot of weight and was walking with a cane. So it is a real possibility that he injured himself and isn't faking it. Of course, with Coach, he may have been trying to fake it and ended up really injuring himself. I wonder if he was using his Dragon Cane when they saw him? It will be interesting to find out how this all plays out.
