Well it wasn't a full nuke, just the core. And that hole looked pretty deep.

OK, I had a thought during the night. Let's see if I can put it into words.
My first thought was, why set off a bomb, why not leave the island and have future self talk to younger self. Big James can talk to Little James and say don't get on the plane... Big Juliet could tell Little Juliet, don't work for Ben...ala South Park. Then I thought, if Little James listens to Big James and doesn't get on the plane, then Big James will never time travel and never tell Little James... Thus Little James will still grow up and get on the plane. right? So, then I thought about the bomb. The bomb blows up and Oceanic doesn't crash. The losties never go back in time. No one sets off the bomb. The plane still crashes. It would have had to be someone like Richard to set off the bomb, for the bomb to not be affected by the plane crashing or not crashing. But, why would someone like Richard do that without one of the losties time traveling and telling him to do that. And then back to the loop. Richard does it, the plane never crashes, the losties never time travel, Richard never is told to set off bomb. Plane still crashes. Don't know if this makes sense, and it is just a t.v. show, so it doesn't have to make sense. |

Things pretty much seemed to be pointing towards this from the beginning of the show. All the black and white imagery... John Locke's black and white eyes in Claire's nightmare from season one (signifying Locke as the instrument who could either be used for good or evil). The knife used to kill Jacob was the same knife that Locke chose to grab as a young boy during Richard's test which made him doubt that John was the "one". I guess you really have to go way back and look at all the clues pointing to this moment. |

Loved the actor playing Jacob. He was great on Dexter so it's nice to see him here.
Also, Jacob only visited those who would eventually be on Oceanic. No mention whether he met Vincent as a pup. |

If Anti-Jacob = Smokey, then why was "Anti-Jacob Locke" so surprised at Ben's revelation that "Smokey Alex" told him to listen to
everything Locke tells him?
And, something in the opening scene struck me as it happened, but haven't re-watched it yet. Jacob and anti-Jacob were talking about changing things, and Jacob said something about being able to change the future? Does anybody remember exactly what they said? |

So Smokey told Alpert to tell Locke he had to die so that Smokey could take Locke's form after he got back to the island. And then at the same time
he's been manipulating people as Christian. Since at one point he was hanging out with Claire, does that mean Claire is still alive and not just another
Smokey apparition? Hell, can Smokey theoretically leave the island and do the same crap, like appear as various dead people to Hurley? Is Smokey the essence
of the island itself? Is anyone actually on Smokey's side, because it seems everyone was on Jacob's side
except for Ben at the end. Which one really is good and evil, if there really is both rather than both being gray or evil? How many more questions can I fit
in this paragraph?
So Jacob and Alpert are both immortal (in respect to aging, though it's possible they could still be killed by other means, as witnessed last night). How did they get this power? How long has Jacob been around, or Alpert for that matter? How did Jacob get off the island? I gather Jacob wants people to enjoy the benefits of the island while Smokey wants the island to himself, thus why Smokey wants to kill him and prevent other people from joining the island. Now that the knowledgeable people like Alpert know Locke's a fake, what will Smokey do to them, especially since Jacob's dead? Will he just go on a rampage? I'm most intrigued by what will happen to Ben's character. He did a good job hiding his weaknesses, but Smokey finally played them up enough that Ben gave in and slew Jacob. Ben is powerless, and he knows it, and maybe season 6 will be about his redemption as he fights to stop Smokey or whatever. The 70's Losties? Fuck 'em. Why couldn't Kate have fallen down that hole or gotten impaled by a metal bar? Why do these guys love such a wishy-washy useless twat like her? Fuck Kate. Fuck her dead. |

James is writing THE LETTER that he writes to "Sawyer"/Anthony Cooper on the steps of the church following his mother and father's funeral. He
runs out of ink, making him unable to finish the letter. Jacob gives him a pen… to finish the letter (which he presumably knows will weigh heavily on future
events on the island?) yet his uncle tells him not to finish it. Jacob provides the choice to James, and James chooses to finish the letter (as evidenced by
him possessing it on the island).
"Katie" and her friend Tom are caught stealing a New Kids on the Block lunchbox (lol) from an Ames, Iowa general store. Jacob intervenes and offers to pay for the lunchbox, gives it back to Katie, tells Katie never to steal again, and touches her nose. Jack's candybar gets stuck in the vending machine. He argues with his father over his father's interference in his work life. Jacob offers Jack the candybar from the machine, which comes loose after he purchases the same one. Jacob gives Jack the candybar, touches his hand, and says, "Maybe all it needed was a little push." Jacob attends Sun & Jin's wedding, in perfect Korean, wishes them well and tells them never to take each other for granted. Then he touches them both on each shoulder. Sayid, with wife Nadia are waiting at an intersection to cross the street. Jacob asks Sayid for directions. Nadia is hit by a car and Jacob touches Sayid's shoulder right before he rushes to her. Jacob is waiting on a park bench right outside the multi-story building that Locke is pushed out of by his father, Anthony Cooper. Answering to his cue, Jacob rises from the bench, walks over to Locke, touches his shoulder, Locke gasps, opens his eyes, and comes back to life. Jacob tells Locke he is sorry this has had to happen to him. Jacob is waiting outside the prison in a taxi that Hurley gets in to. In what is the most direct of exchanges between Jacob and the Losties, he asks Hurley why he won't go back to the island, tells him rather than being cursed, that he is blessed in that he gets to still see all whom he has lost. He tells him of the Ajira flight, states that it is his choice, and leaves the guitar in the cab for Hurley as he exits. In each instance, Jacob either gave the Losties something, or he touched them. But what about the nature of what is said or what he does does this indicate for each character? He gives James a pen to finish writing the letter… Is James destiny to follow through with something that he started? Is Kate not to have something that doesn't belong to her ("steal")? Thus, she is to reunite Aaron with Claire as Aaron does not belong to her? What about Jack? Are Sun & Jin destined to always be together, and therefore this season's separation is not what is destined? What about Sayid? Jacob tells Locke that he is sorry this has had to happen to him… his death? Locke must always die in order for other events to occur. And what does this mean for Hurley? What is his destiny?

The answer? He who will save us all. This same latin is the phrase that Jacob weaves on his tapestry as well. |

Since Smokey can only play dead people that means Smokey = The First Evil.
