I liked it overall. Phyllis was funny with her ankle "injury" while she was just standing there, and wtf was with Meredith's outfit? Cowboy
boots and a top exposing her lily-white belly? Eww and lol! The end was sweet for me. It'll be interesting to see how they play out Pam's pregnancy.

Good episode. I liked Dwight's best friend, but no one (and I mean no one) can replace Mose.
John Krasinski hit it out the park last night. Jenna Fischer is usually the one who can say so much with her expressions without uttering a single word, but Krasinski was note-perfect. I thought she was probably asked about being pregnant before they gave her the X-ray on any part of her body. But the speculation that she might've already known (since she once wanted to elope) makes a lot of sense. I've long thought that THE OFFICE has stopped being a sitcom and is now more of a light drama. The characters are so developed at this point that you acutally care about what happens to them, whether it's LOL-funny or not. And many of the show's best moments aren't comical. |

Pregnancy is a horrible idea. No good can come of a pregnancy storyline in a sitcom. I can't think of the last one that ended up well. I mean, you have all
the same stupid pregnancy jokes, and then at the end of the season you're stuck with a kid which will either become annoying or mostly ignored because its
hard to factor a baby into the plot (Friends). I mean, forget the pregnancy storyline, think about what they'll do after the baby is born. Are they going
to bring the baby into the Office, like that one lady did who came in from the other branch? That would be annoying. Is Pam going to quit to raise the child?
You can't do that, she's a popular character and it'll be too hard to keep Jenna Fisher appearing regularly if that happens, unless they start
showing scenes from Jim and Pam's home which would be annoying and go against the point of the show. Are they going to hire a nanny and both keep working?
That would be weird, and the kid would mostly become forgotten, so what's the point. I mean I like this show, but I've seen so many times where
pregnancy is a "jump the shark" moment because the showrunners wanted to have the pregnancy storyline (for shock value, pregnancy jokes, or because
of an actress's real pregnancy) but haven't thought through what to do with an actual baby and it drags the show way down. God I hate pregnancy
storylines. I bet at some point next season they'll have an episode where they bring in some kind of "baby equivalent" (robot baby/toy doll/sack
of flour) that Jim and Pam are forced to take care of because of their baby counseling, and they bring it to the office and wackiness ensues!

Since most of the show takes place in the workplace, I doubt it will ruin the show. I don't know about you, but where I work, people don't bring their
kids here. They go to day care or stay with a relative all day.
And I think this show is boardline soap - just like Friends. The definition of a soap is a continuing drama - shows like The Office and Friends and continuing comedies. |

Indeed. Shows like Friends and Frasier and MASH and All in the Family...in other words, the greatest comedies TV has produced.
I still thought the finale was lacking but I agree this is the direction the show wants to go and it's succeeding overall. |

We probably won't even see the baby until season 7 anyway. Pam will probably be pregnant throughout next season and the season finale will be her having
the baby.

I was actually thinking...If the show skips through the summer like usual then Pam will be 4-5 months pregnant by the season premiere. This would indicate a
birth in February...just before the Olympics begin.

Agreed that it was a very lackluster finale, but had this just been a regular episode, it would have been very good.
i think they'll be able to work the pregnancy in just fine, as others have mentioned, since everything takes place at work they can say their baby is either at home with a nanny or a relative decent season, not the best, but better then season 4. could have used more drama or a cliffhanger for next season, but, that's fine. will still watch next season. |

I liked Michael's little confessional about how he thinks his relationship with Holly will go -- how first she might be with someone else, then later he might be with someone else, but eventually they'll end up together. So sitcom-y and unrealistic. It was cheesy and sad at the same time. |

I love when a show is able to mix both elements well and I think the Office, recently, has been striking that balance more often than not, much
like it used to in season 2. I watched the UK Office which I also loved - but I never had too many moments of rooting for David Brent. With Michael Scott,
though, I'm not actually sure when I started to care, but I do. He (and Steve Carell) has some of the most effecting moments (end of Booze Cruise, when
Michael tells Jim to never give up, sticks out as a good moment). My favorite moment of this season is still when Michael hugged Holly and asked her out.
