He's like Diana, if he wins, it's because of the anti-Adam contingent the way Diana's "fans" were mostly anti-Fantasia people. Hell, even Ryan Tedder couldn't remember Kris's name after Kris did Apologize, which should tell you something about the reception of Kris out his fandom.

And honestly, hammy, I don't think we can reasonably predict how well Adam and Kris will sell. It is all about how their handlers shape their image and promote them. Adam's problem is that he's gay and the music market tends to ghetto gay artists into the pink niche. I don't know if AI can help him overcome that. Kris's problem is that no one outside the fandom knows who he is.

Many, many people like Kris for reasons that have nothing to do with Adam being gay. Many, many people don't like Adam for reasons having nothing to do with him being gay. If their orientations were flipped and Kris was gay and Adam were straight but they performed exactly the same way they did throughout the competition, I HOPE they would have nearly the same fan bases they have now. Drew, I know what you are saying but... you know, this is AI. There will always be tards who will describe their favorites as the second coming of the musical Jesus, using ridiculous hyperboles and laughably inappropriate comparisons to musical greats of the past. Most people realize since Daughtry that winning isn't all That. Even the despised Archuleta has gotten a pretty decent career from his second place win. If Lambert can't get something decent going even without a win, it'll be his fault. If Kris wins though. I'd enjoy all the clucking about American homophobia. Plus Kris would be one of the lamest winners ever. On the other hand, that would keep the buzz going a little longer so in the end Lambert should win. Of all the non-winners who have actually sold well enough to warrant a mention, there were Clay and Daughtry and, arguably, Archie and Elliott, although their numbers weren't that impressive either. But their numbers were definitely better than those of so many non-winners who tried but failed to matter after the show. Winning is still the only option if you want to make something out of the show.

Pickler is at 1,000,000 between her two albums Jasmine Trias is at Platinum internationally though the actual numbers aren't well known Hudson is at 500,000 and an Oscar Gracin is at 500,000 Locke is at 250,000 records Not bad numbers

Not to sound like "sour grapes", but 3rd is probably the best position to get in this show. You get maximum exposure without the pressure of a head-to-head competition or the burden of being bound by the Idol contract, or having to sing the crappy coronation song, which pretty much dooms your career from the start.

Elliott is the only exception so far, and that is one out of seven. How you can rationale this into an "ideal" place to go out on Idol, I have no idea.
