GRTCHEN CORDY



Although loved by most Survivor fans (myself included) Gretchen still holds the title for the first Survivor dissapointment. From the get go Gretchen had more potential than anyone from her season to win Survivor. She was a hard worker, she got along with people, she knew the survival aspect of the game and most importantly she was the respected silent leader at Pagong. Pagong was extremely disfunctional and everyone's name seemed to have popped up at one time or another as someone to get rid of. Except for Gretchen whom everyone seem to consider the biggest asset to the tribe but without being overbearing or threatening.

Now of course we all witnessed how Grtechen's game was shockingly cut short. We thought she was in it for the long haul but she became the first merge casualty. This left viewers and several castaways themselves dumbfounded. How can someone who was so strong and so respected be booted out so early?? But this is when we learned what Survivor was all about at the same time so in a way Gretchen's ouster was one, if not the most, imporant elimination in Survivor history.

So of course should I cut her some slack because of this? Not really because Gretchen had no one to blame but herself for her demise. Yes the game was new and no one could've seen this coming, but the fact is Gretchen had one of the most powerful positions in Survivor history and shat on it. When her tribe discussed staying as unit and getting rid of the other tribe, in which case Gretchen might've easily won, she instead declined and that was the beginning of the end for her. So yes, I'm giving her somewhat of a break because people didn't know any better back then, but it was still common sense and it's still irritating to know she had the game in the paume of her hands and let slip. Well, not so much slip as just tossing it away in the garbage.

In order to be a disasapointement, I had to have faith in them to begin with. Sean looked like a dumbass from day 1.

Let boos and the hisses begin!

Yes, it may be hard to believe but before I started rooting for alpha dads and golden boys, I was once a fanboy myself since I was only 18 when I watched Outback. So of course like any fanboy I had a hard on for Amber. She was quiet and oh so cute. I rooted for her every episode but slowly started wondering when she would emerge as a character. Almost ten years later and I'm still waiting

Her edit was just not flattering. Elisabeth was the sweetheart, Jerri was the vilain and Amber was left with nothing. The most she could come off with was being Jerri's sidekick. Being that Jerri was hated, both her fellow castaways and the viewers seemed to have a low opinion of Amber. Once Jerri got booted, Amber walked around like a chicken that just got her head chopped and was promplty booted herself.

Since I was a delusional fanboy back then, I spent 6 seasons defending her, saying she was an underrated character and strategist. I kid you not, I actually believed myself when I said that! I joined Sucks during the Thailand era and started my career here by posting non stop in Burn Baby Burn's Amber love thread. When it was announced that she was in All-Star I nearly dorwned in my own semen. I told everyone here, "Just you wait and see, this time Amber will show her personality, her gameplay and she'll even win!!" Saddly I was half right. Amber DID win, but in the worst way possible. This time she was there for the entire stay but still failed to show any sings of personality, minimal gameplay and latched on to someone like a parasite just like she did 3 years ago. That's when I realized there was just no defending her anymore. That and by that time I was over my fanboy phase anyways.

The fact that she fell for one of my most hated castways ever just sealed the deal. We all know Slob Morono has really obvious insecurity issues, so was does that say about a woman who thinks the world of him?
