oh but wait, this is the YELLY thread.
Here's a little tidbit for you -
Isn't it INTERESTING that Daughtry's new song "No Surprise" just breezed past Yelly's new song "I Don't Hook Up" on the Hot A/C chart this week?
That shows you the relative strength of the two, in comparison, in that market. And Daughtry's song has only been out for 3 weeks, Kelly's for 6. Because the Pop chart is so fickle this should be her primary secondary market. As David Cook has shown, you can dominate Hot A/C, and do ok on Pop and his songs are still considered "hits." This is the method they are following with Daughtry now, and with his last couple of singles from his last album. But Kelly's getting a decidely lukewarm reception for her song in this market.
(Yes, she moved into the Top 10 on Pop, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the Hot A/C market, which can be more lucrative because the songs stay on the chart, and are played on those stations, so much longer. They give life to the album after the initial pop stations bonus is gone. How do you think Daughtry's album has stayed on the charts for 131 weeks now?).
The point I'm making is Daughtry is a more sure-fire seller than Yelly is right now, as far as the label is concerned. Watch them pull out all the stops to promote his next album.
He's the only Idol contestant I ever really voted for and supported 100%.
I'm going to see him in Sept at the York Fair.
Also Kelly has to song on the charts.....
