Any artist who has been nominated for a grammy and been in the business this long AS WELL as the fact that he is an accomplished bandleader....means he can't be that
bad.

Give any example of a jingle for a skit that Paul's produced and try to convince me it isn't a piece of crap that sounded like every other banal piece of crap he's produced for that show. Melodically, his music tends to be monotone. It's like Shaffer isn't even trying. It's got no brains. If a comedy sketch were about fat ladies, Shaffer would have his band members yelling out "fat ladies" 5 times as a part of its hook. I've never seen a divergence from this witless formula. Of course, Shaffer isn't hired to be a fab composer, but it's an indication of the rest of the shitfest that he is.

Or give me a link to one genuinely comedic moment Shaffer's ever had on the show. Just one. I could provide a few for Max Weinberg or Andy Richter. I can't do that for Shaffer and would be hardpressed to want to watch anything he's in anyway. He's an old, bald, weasel-like looking man with no wit or humor. Letterman would be much better without him.
