Oh yeah, I forgot Edward Norton. For sure one of the best actors around.

I'm sorry, but Edward Norton's 'body of work' has fallen off greatly: Death To Smoochy, Kingdom of Heaven, Red Dragon.
Cate Blanchett however with the notable exception of Indiana Jones has an incredible body and body of work. |

Yeah, I considered Norton and Cusack for the best of the younger generations, but I think Penn and Depp have been in better movies. I love Phillip Seymour
Hoffman and Buscemi too. John C Reilly is another good one who has been in a lot of great films.
I can't think of any actor under age 40 that is as good as DiCaprio. |

He has starred in a lot of great movies, and there has been variety in his characters (The Sixth Sense, 12 Monkeys, Pulp Fiction, etc.) I like Sam Jackson and he's not as guilty of playing the same character over and over again as Morgan Freeman. Morgan always plays the laid-back guy who knows everything. The only time he has broken from that boring character was in Shawshank Redemption, his best role by far. |

oldman has not done anything edgy in years. batman and harry potter franchises don't count. he used to do good indie work in between doing big movies but
now he doesn't even bother.

I feel that his best work was in marginal films the political thriller The Contender he was very good in it, Hannibal which was a terrible film but he was awesome in it, and Batman Begins where he's almost a bigger part of the film then Batman. With that said none of those performances are immediately thought of as great work by an actor. I think that the Alan Rickmans, Geoffrey Rush's, and John Malkovich's have been able to cover the same subject matter but have done so with more of a staying power and managed to be more distinctive. |

Kevin Spacey has some great ones, but he's had probably an equal number of shitty ones, so he's tough call.
Christian Bale & Ed Norton, for sure, of the contemporaries. DiCaprio really does have some impressive movies to his credit. Now if only he could act. |
