Without a Lisa or Marcel-type "villain" to root against it's going to be a long summer.

I miss the cattiness of the usual no-name cheftestants. (I need more along the line of "It's Top Chef, not Top Scallop!!") I suppose the Master
Chefs will all be too professionally cautious of each other's reputations to diss each other.

Really enjoyed it. Love Gael Greene and she was very mellow. Hubert Keller is one of my favorite TV chefs. He did have one really big advantage in that his
family owned a bakery (in Alsace) so dessert is easy for him.
Loved the redheaded girl scout and the chefs' response to her. Nice, light cameraderie. Texas Tim was fun to watch. Good beginning, I didn't care for the host. She has one of those "stink face" expressions - like she is smelling something horrible but carrying on. Hope she grows on me because I am really looking forward to watching this. |

I loved this show! Loved that they were all so secure in their own abilities, that they could laugh and poke and joke with one another. And the little
red-headed girl......perfection!
Still like the regular show - but this is definitely a keeper until the new season starts! |

I liked it a lot. I too liekd the friendly banter between the chefs. They were also very supportive of each other.
The red-head girl was amazing. "Future food critic for the NYT." Keller was great and deserved the win. I look forward to his performance in the finale. I just wish Padma was hosting. I've reallyc ome to appreciate even more her hosting. Nothing against this host but she doesn't ahve the same playful calmness that Padma brings. At least we still have Gail <3 Putting them classic TC-style competitions. The dorm room was hilarious, especially when the kids came into their rooms. "You should have made your bed." |

I, for one, do not miss Padma.

That was oddly formal.

Can't wait for next week! They have to cater to the people from LOST, and for the QuickFire, the chefs are cooking for past contestants (but from what I
saw, it was Betty and Mikey).

Loved it. I thought the non-winners were very good sports and I couldn't believe how well Texas Tim recovered from his frozen food disaster.
Can't wait for John Besh's episode! <3 |

I was hoping NPH and Zooey would be on every episode.

As others have said, the Chefs will not bitch about the other Chefs.
What fun is that? |

Umm... good cooking and stressful/bizarre challenges. You don't see Chefs bitching in Iron Chef but that's an entertaining cooking competition. The
bitching on TC is fun but's not the reason I watch. I like watching pull off great meals through difficult circumstances.

I don't think they need to be bitching and whiny. Infact, that part of reality shows gets on my nerves sometimes. i.e. I totally wanted Lisa OFF my tv. I
don't care if she made for good TV or not..
The 4 chefs from this episode were having fun.. and they were a little bitchy about the girl scout judges, but thy were self-effacing and geniune. Also, this was the first episode.. let's see what happens as the series progresses.. I can see a few of these chef's turning ugly if someone interferes with their cooking. |

Nope. Sorry you two.
I need bitchers, and complainers and tension. It ain't a cooking show otherwise. And no Padma? Please... |

It's a fun in-between seasons show. I wouldn't trade it for the original.

How classy was Hubert? I liked how he said he couldn't figure out what the micro was for!
