But explain that so its understood.

I also know from experience that life isn't always fair. But I can see the girls being peeved about it. I have seen people not fully play by the rules and still win competitions.

Not fully play by whose rules? It was tptb that let her onto the show in the first place and I doubt the issue of having appropriate travel documents was omitted during the application process.

It would seem as if she were in the process of getting one -- at least from her comments to her sister on the phone, Jay's comment, and that they let her on the show. Having only been in the country for two years and if she applied for one shortly before trying out (or being cast), I don't know if she was facing any hurdles in getting one and if it was taking longer than expected. She very well may have been lazy, I wouldn't really know either way. I do think that she should have had everything prepared beforehand, but what's done is done.

She didn't look fully surprised to me. Just disappointed as the trip to the Bahamas was unexpected at this point in the competition and the reality of not having a passport set in when Jay said that he needed to talk to her.

As for professionalism, even real (signed, working) models screw up in the travel document (or work visa) department because young people, when left to responsibly think ahead, often do not follow through.

The girls can be pissed if they want, but it is not up to them who stays or goes and by what criteria. Especially since Maryam did have a similar photoshoot (while they bitched about the elements during their photoshoot, IMO not having the natural setting would be a distinct disadvantage if everyone else is shooting on a real beach with real water and sunlight) and didn't get a pass for just sitting around the apartment for 3 days. They would be more justified if she did get pass for not doing anything, but even then, it still wouldn't be their decision.
