Babongo Tribe - Night 36

<An eerie music plays, as the infrared camera shows a view of the starry night sky, and then fades out to show a snake slithering along the ground. A side view of the four remaining Babongo members returning back to camp is then shown, as indistinct chatter is heard>

Dan: Final Four, guys… <The four castaways now set their torches up against the hut>

G.C.: <talking loudly> Well, that was a blindside tonight! <The infrared camera shows Paloma>

Paloma: I'm so glad that's over with. I hate it… <Paloma can now be seen taking off the Immunity necklace and hanging it around her torch, before the camera returns to G.C.>

G.C.: Man, everybody better be happy now. <laughs> We're Final Four! <Dan is shown again>

Dan - CONFESSIONAL: Tonight at Tribal Council, it was between Charlie and myself, and Charlie went home, <Dan can be seen taking a drink of water from his canteen> so <long pause> I had another near-death experience, as I might say, <laughs> but <pause> I owe my life right now to Randy and G.C. <A clip of G.C. scooping rice out of the pot is shown>

G.C.: <to Dan> Want some rice, Dan? You want more than that? <G.C. can be seen holding out a wooden bowl with rice scooped into it, before Dan is shown>

Dan: <to G.C.> No, that's good… <The infrared camera zooms back in on Dan>

Dan - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> If it wasn't for them, I'd be off somewhere taking a shower, <G.C. is now shown eating a spoonful of rice> so <long pause> the alliance between the three guys is, uh, holding pretty strong right now… <The infrared camera now cuts ahead to show Randy, G.C., and Dan standing by the hut together>

G.C.: We need to make it to the finals, man… <A close-up view of Dan is shown, as he nods>

Dan: <to G.C.> It's us three to the end. <The camera turns to a contemplative Randy>

Randy: Paloma's gone next, and <Randy takes a long pause, as Dan says "That's the only thing that matters"> there's nothing else that needs to be said on that… <Dan is shown>

Dan - CONFESSIONAL: You know, I'm still not sure why Randy decided he wanted to keep me around. <The infrared camera continues to focus on Randy for a few seconds> I mean, he's tried to get me out enough times, <laughs> but I guess he just dislikes me less than he dislikes Paloma, <laughs> so <long pause> being in this alliance is a great spot for me because otherwise I might be a target as a strong physical player, <Another wide view of the three Babongo men is shown next> but I feel fine, you know? Um, the next one to go is gonna be Paloma… <The camera now cuts back to Randy again>

Randy: As far as I'm concerned, it can't happen soon enough… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera abruptly switches angles to show a sad-looking Paloma lying in the hut>

Paloma - CONFESSIONAL: It kindof sucks right now. Like, it sucks really bad. <laughs> I mean, Charlie got voted off, <The infrared camera continues to focus on Paloma for a few seconds> but you know, I would never forgive myself if I just gave up at this point and died. Like, I'm definitely not gonna go down without giving it the biggest fight of my life… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, before the screen abruptly fades out>

Babongo Tribe - Day 37

<'Wonderment' begins to play, as the camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the dull orange sun rising above the calm lake, and then scrolls over to the Babongo tribe's flag. The camera continues to focus on it for a few seconds, before fading into a view of the Final Four castaways lying awake in their hut. G.C. can then be seen climbing out, as he says "Day 37">

G.C.: I'm gonna go check the nets before it gets too hot; see if we might catch some fish in there. <Randy can be seen looking towards G.C.> Anybody wanna come with? <A quick view of Dan is then shown, as he can be seen grabbing a bucket>

Dan: <to G.C.> I'll go out for a boat ride with you… <The camera abruptly cuts ahead to show both Dan and G.C. climbing into the canoe and paddling away from shore>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: Survivor is definitely a, uh, hard game to play. You know, it's hard to survive physically sometimes <The camera shows Randy eating a spoonful of rice> and it's hard to survive Tribal Councils, but <long pause> this isn't real suffering. <G.C. can be seen pulling up a net and sifting through it> You know, there's definitely food out here if you go and look for it. <Dan drops a medium-sized fish into a bucket, before G.C. is shown again>

G.C.: <to Dan> Oh, that's a big one, dude! <Dan now high-fives G.C. excitedly>

Dan: <excitedly> Nice! <The camera focuses back in on G.C. for a few seconds>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> I mean, we hit the jackpot this morning. We got a couple fish in our nets; <Dan is shown pulling up another fishing net, as G.C. says "Four fishes; that's breakfast"> Paloma brought back some fruit, <A clip of Paloma carrying a handful of fruit is shown next> so the Babongo tribe is doin' pretty good, <laughs> and <short pause> you know, this is thriving compared to the reality of the world for a lot of people… <A mysterious shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows a piece of fish cooking over the fire, and then scrolls over to Randy, who can be seen standing nearby>

Randy: <talking aloud> Smells like food… <The camera switches angles to show G.C.>

G.C.: Happy breakfast, Final Four… <G.C. is now shown biting into a piece of fish, as he says "That tastes good." The camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the Babongo tribe's flag, as clouds can be seen shifting behind it, and then cuts ahead to show a clip of Dan returning back to camp with a treemail message in his hand>

Dan: <talking loudly> We got treemail! <The camera then shows Randy turning his head>

Randy - CONFESSIONAL: Immunity is probably more important now than it's ever been. <A wide of Dan is shown, as he reads the message aloud> You know, Paloma won the last one but it was strictly luck. Uh, I'll [censored] out a bar of gold before she'll win anything where she actually has to compete, <A view of the four castaways is shown again, before the camera zooms in on G.C.> so <long pause> I could care less which of the three guys wins today. It's irrelevant, as long as it's not her… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera cuts ahead to show Paloma putting the Immunity necklace around her neck>

Paloma - CONFESSIONAL: I'm gonna do whatever I can to stay. I mean, even though it might look like I'm laying low, I'm actually waiting for the right moment to make my move. <A clip of Randy examining the treemail message is shown> You know, we can't make any decisions until we know who wins Immunity and you never know who's gonna win, so <long pause> I mean, like, we just have to wait and see. <A wide view of the four Babongo members walking out of camp is shown next> Hopefully it's not Randy… <The screen then fades out>

Immunity Challenge - A-maze-ing Gabon

<'Fighting Spirit' plays, as the camera shows an aerial view of a grassy valley and rapidly scrolls above it, before fading out to show a vertical maze. Four colored puzzle stations are then shown, before the camera cuts ahead to show a close-up view of Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <talking loudly> Come on in, guys! <The camera abruptly switches angles to show a faraway view of the Final Four Babongo members walking in to the challenge area. Both Dan and Randy are shown, before the camera focuses in on Paloma, and then zooms out to show all four castaways assembling into a group on their blue tribal mat>

Jeff Probst: You guys ready to get to today's challenge? <Another view of the entire tribe is shown, before the camera zooms in on an anxious G.C.>

G.C.: Yes sir! <Paloma is then shown nodding her head and saying "Yeah." The camera now shows a close-up view of Dan, before scrolling back over to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: First things first, Paloma; <short pause> I will take it back from you… <Paloma can be seen taking the Immunity necklace off and handing it to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <to Paloma> Thank you. <The camera now shows Randy staring ahead, before cutting ahead to show Jeff setting the Immunity necklace back up on its stand>

Jeff Probst: Once again, Immunity is back up for grabs. <The camera continues to focus on Jeff> For today's challenge, you will make your way up and through this vertical maze, <A view of the entire maze is shown> collecting five bags of puzzle pieces. <A clip of several colored bags of puzzle pieces hanging from a wooden station are shown> Each time you get a bag, <A female castaway can now be seen grabbing a red bag> you must make your way back through the maze, <The camera rapidly scrolls through the vertical maze> to the starting platform, <A quick view of the four puzzle stations is shown next> drop the bag, <A male castaway is shown tossing a yellow bag down onto his mat> and then head out to find another one. <Another wide view of the entire maze is shown, before the camera returns to Jeff> Once you've collected all five bags of puzzle pieces, <A clip of a male castaway dumping out his green puzzle pieces is shown> you will use those pieces to construct a replica of a Gabonese hut. <The camera now shows a view of an incomplete Gabonese hut, before cutting ahead to show the completed puzzle> First person to build it correctly wins Immunity; <Jeff takes a short pause, as the camera shows the four Babongo members nodding> is guaranteed a one-in-three shot at winnin' a million bucks. <The camera now cuts back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Alright; <short pause> we'll get started. <The music speeds up and becomes more dramatic, as the camera scrolls through the maze and then cuts ahead to show several rapid clips of colored bags of puzzle pieces. An incomplete Gabonese hut is then shown, before the camera fades out to show Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: <talking loudly> Here we go! <A wide view of the four castaways standing at the starting line is shown> For Immunity and a guaranteed spot in the Final Three! <Jeff is now shown again, as he raises his arm> Survivors ready?! <Jeff then lowers his arm> GO! <'Wind Chasers' begins to play, as the camera shows the four Babongo members racing towards the entrance of the vertical maze. G.C. can be seen arriving first and climbing up onto a higher level, before the camera zooms out to show the entire maze again>

Jeff Probst: <narration> This is a vertical maze. <Randy is now shown pulling himself up onto the next level of the maze> Your goal is to find all five bags of puzzle pieces! <The camera now switches angles to show a clip of Paloma racing through the maze>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Paloma workin' her way through the maze… <A close-up view of G.C. is now shown again, as he continues to climb towards the top of the vertical maze>

Jeff Probst: <narration> G.C. in the lead! Goin' up high! <Rapid clips of the four Babongo members are then shown, before the camera shows Dan in the lowest level of the maze, as he arrives at his first bag of puzzle pieces>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Dan goin' down low… <Dan now grabs his first bag of puzzle pieces, before the camera cuts ahead to show G.C. grabbing his first bag>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Once you find a bag, <Paloma is shown pulling herself up onto a higher level of the maze> you gotta make your way all the way to back to the start… <G.C. is now shown climbing down a level and then jumping off a ledge, before the camera switches angles to show Dan racing back to the starting platform>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Dan is the first one back with his first bag of puzzle pieces! <Dan now tosses his yellow bag of puzzle pieces down by his mat, and runs back towards the maze>

Jeff Probst: <narration> G.C. back with his first bag! <The camera now shows G.C. arriving back at the starting platform, as he tosses his green bag of puzzle pieces down on his mat. The camera then scrolls over to Randy, who is following close behind>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Randy right behind with his first bag! <Randy now tosses his bag

down on his blue mat> Heading back out for bag #2. <Both Randy and G.C. can be seen racing back towards the maze, before the camera shows Paloma running in the opposite direction with her bag of red puzzle pieces>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Paloma back with her first bag… <Paloma now tosses the bag down on her mat. The camera then shows another wide view of the entire vertical maze, as the other three Babongo members can be seen climbing through it. Rapid clips of both Randy and Dan grabbing their second bags of puzzle pieces are then shown>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Randy and Dan both heading back with their second bags of puzzle pieces! <The camera shows Dan crawling under a low ledge, and then jumping down onto a lower level of the maze. G.C. is then shown racing out of the maze with his second bag>

Jeff Probst: <narration> G.C. back with his second bag of puzzle pieces! <G.C. tosses his green bag down onto his mat> Heading back out looking for that third bag… <The camera continues to show G.C. for a few seconds, as he looks up at the maze for the remaining puzzle stations. Jeff Probst: <narration> Dan back with his second bag! <Dan now races back towards the maze, as G.C. can be seen climbing up onto a higher level and Randy races out of the maze with his second bag. The camera abruptly cuts ahead to show a quick clip of him tossing it down and then heading back into the vertical maze>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Randy's back out in the maze… <Another wide view of the maze is shown, as the four castaways continue to make their way through it>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Everybody's now out in the vertical maze. <Paloma can be seen grabbing her second bag of puzzle pieces> Everybody's lookin' for pieces! <Randy is shown climbing up onto a higher level of the maze, as he looks for his next puzzle station. The camera now cuts back to show Paloma arriving at the starting platform with her second bag>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Paloma's out with her second bag. <Paloma now tosses the red bag down onto her mat, before the camera shows a clip of Dan, who arrives at his third bag of puzzle pieces. He grabs it and then begins to race back through the vertical maze>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Dan racing down with his third bag… <G.C. is shown pulling himself up towards the top of the maze, before he arrives at his third bag>

Jeff Probst: <narration> G.C. goes up high again and has his third bag… <G.C. can now be seen grabbing the third bag and beginning to make his way back down to the start. A close-up view of a tiring Dan is shown, as he leaps down onto a lower ledge>

Jeff Probst: <narration> This challenge has only begun and already, everybody's winded. <A close-up view of Randy is shown next, as he runs down a corridor> You gotta get back down now… <The camera now abruptly cuts ahead to show both G.C. and Dan returning to their starting platforms with their third bags of puzzle pieces>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Randy at the very top of this maze… <Randy can now be seen arriving at the puzzle station, as he grabs his third bag. The camera then abruptly switches angles to show Paloma grabbing her third red bag of puzzle pieces>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Paloma has her third bag. <Paloma is now shown racing back to the start of the maze> Trying to get back to the start now… <Quick views of each of the four Babongo members racing back to the start of the maze are now shown>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Everybody coming back with bags! <The camera shows Dan arriving back at the starting platform and tossing his third bag down, as G.C. can be seen right behind him. Paloma is then shown climbing down onto a lower level of the maze>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Paloma and Randy are one full bag behind G.C. and Dan… <G.C. is shown working his way back through the maze. The camera now shows Dan shielding his eyes from the sun, as he surveys the vertical maze for his final puzzle station>

Dan: <talking aloud> Where's the last one? <Dan now runs back into the maze, before the camera turns to show Paloma and Randy arriving back with their third bags>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Only one bag left for G.C. and Dan! <A prominent sound is heard, as a determined G.C. can be seen grabbing his fifth bag of puzzle pieces>

Jeff Probst: <narration> G.C. has his fifth and final bag of puzzle pieces! <The camera shows G.C. frantically going back through the maze, as Dan can be seen climbing up to the highest level. He then reaches the final puzzle station and grabs his yellow bag>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Dan now has his final bag! <A front view of Dan is shown, as jumps down onto the next level of the maze> He's gotta get down now! <Rapid clips of both G.C. and Dan working back down the vertical maze are shown next>

Jeff Probst: <narration> G.C. looking very good. He's close… <G.C. is now shown placing the last two pieces of the roof down, as his Gabonese hut is completed. Jeff is then shown>

Jeff Probst: <shouting> G.C. wins Immunity! <G.C. can now be seen raising his arms, as he shouts "Yeah!"> Goin' to the Final Three! <'Fighting Chance' begins to play, as the camera shows an exhausted G.C. with a surprised look on his face. Rapid close-up views of both Dan and Randy are then shown, before the camera returns to G.C.>

G.C.: <talking loudly> Oh, man! <laughs> <A view of a disappointed Paloma is then shown, before the camera abruptly cuts ahead to show an aerial view of the entire challenge area and then turns back to Jeff again, as he grabs the Immunity necklace>

Jeff Probst: G.C., come on over. <A victorious G.C. can now be seen walking over to Jeff, as the camera continues to focus on him and Jeff places the Immunity necklace around his neck>

G.C.: Thank you, man! <The camera continues to show both G.C. and Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <to G.C.> First time for this: <short pause> individual Immunity. <G.C. is shown smiling, as Jeff pats him on the shoulder> You are safe from the vote at tonight's Tribal Council. <The camera now switches angles to show the other three Babongo members>

Jeff Probst: Paloma, Dan, Randy, <A close-up view of a stern-looking Randy is shown> tonight, after 37 hard-fought days, one of you goin' home. <Dan is then shown with a worried look on his face, before the camera returns to both Jeff and G.C.>

Paloma - CONFESSIONAL: Obviously I knew I needed to win today, so definitely, you know, I could be the one going home tonight, but like, I still have a chance if I can convince Dan and G.C. to vote off Randy, <G.C. is now shown> so <long pause> we'll see what happens… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera switches angles to show both Paloma and Randy. Another aerial view of the entire challenge area is then shown, before the camera rapidly zooms out and scrolls around it. The screen abruptly fades out>

Babongo Tribe - Night 37

<'Dark Angel' plays, as the infrared camera shows a view of dark clouds shifting in front of the full moon and then fades out to show a clip of a snake slithering in front of the Babongo tribe's flag. The three remaining men can then be seen returning back to camp>

G.C.: <talking aloud> Another one down… <The infrared camera now scrolls over to Dan>

Dan: <to G.C.> I'm so happy. <laughs> Final Three. <Indistinct conversation is heard, as Dan can be heard saying "Mi famiglia." The camera then focuses back in on G.C. again>

G.C.: <to Dan> That was a million dollar fire-making challenge… <Dan nods his head>

Dan: <to G.C.> That was huge… <Another view of G.C. is shown next>

G.C.: <to Dan> I can't believe you made it another night, bro. <Dan begins to speak, before the infrared camera switches angles to show a close-up Randy again>

Randy - CONFESSIONAL: We got back to camp. The vote worked out exactly the way I wanted it to. <The infrared camera continues to focus on the three Babongo men> You know, the only way Paloma was gonna get to the Final Three was over my dead body, so <long pause> that [censored] is finally gone and <pause> Dan and I have a 66.6% chance of going to the Final Two. <A close-up view of Dan is now shown next> Not bad for a night's work… <A wide view of Dan, Randy, and G.C. sitting by the fire is then shown>

Randy: G.C., I'm sorry, but I wasn't gonna let Paloma last longer than me… <G.C. is shown>

G.C.: <to Randy> Hey, you don't got to apologize, man. <Dan can now be seen listening intently> You did what you had to do and I know where I stand now; <short pause> I know who you're takin' with you… <The infrared camera then scrolls back over to an uneasy G.C.>

Randy - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> G.C. is pissed that Dan is still here and not Paloma, but <long pause> he's gonna have to live with it. <A mysterious shift in the music now occurs, as the camera shows a view of a crocodile half-submerged in the lake, and then fades into a close-up view of G.C., who is sitting by the crackling fire>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: We lost Paloma tonight at Tribal Council. <G.C. can now be seen crouched down by the fire pit, as he tends to the tribe's fire> Uh, to my surprise, the vote was a tie. <A close-up view of Randy is then shown> You know, Randy pretty much lied to me today because he told me he didn't have an alliance with Dan, but <long pause> damn, I mean, this dude is, like, impossible to get rid of! <laughs> <G.C. can then be seen looking up at the starry night sky, as the infrared camera shows a shooting star streaking by>

G.C.: <talking aloud> Look at the stars, man… <Both Dan and Randy are then shown again>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> I made my decision tonight based on that it would be easier for me to beat Paloma in the final challenge, <The infrared camera returns to G.C.> but <long pause> it turns out they're in an alliance to take each other to the end, <A clip of both Randy and Dan talking is shown next> so <pause> I'm the underdog now. <laughs> It is me against the world… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the infrared camera shows another close-up view of a thoughtful G.C. The screen then fades out>

Babongo Tribe - Day 38

<'Rejoicing' plays, as the camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the early morning sky and the sun can be seen rising over the silhouetted jungle. The camera fades out to show a close-up view of the Babongo tribe's flag, and then switches angles to show a butterfly landing on a leafy branch. Another view of the red-orange sky is shown, before the camera cuts ahead to show G.C. crouched down at the edge of the lake and washing his face>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: Today is Day 38, and I'm hopeful this morning; hopeful it's gonna be a good day. <The camera continues to focus on G.C. for a few seconds> You know, I definitely want my journey to continue in this game, and <pause> I'm just gonna do my best. I mean, anything can happen at the Immunity Challenge; <short pause> anything can happen at Tribal Council. <G.C. now dips his blue buff back into the lake waters> You know, people change their minds all the time, so <long pause> I'm still in this thing, man. I'm not giving up… <A mysterious music begins to play, as the camera abruptly cuts ahead to show a clip of the three Babongo members at camp, and then turns to show Jeff walking along the path towards their camp. Dan is then shown looking into the distance>

Dan: Hey; I think someone's coming… <Dan can now be seen pointing ahead, before the camera shows an interested G.C. turning his head and indistinct conversation is heard>

G.C.: <talking loudly> That looks like Jeff! <The camera now continues to show G.C. again>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: We got up this morning; <short pause> we were all feeling really good, and next thing you know there's Jeff; <Another clip of Jeff walking towards camp is then shown> uh, Jeff shows up… <A wide view of the three Babongo members is then shown>

G.C.: <to Jeff> What's happenin', man? <Jeff is then shown shaking Dan's hand and then Randy's, as he says "Randy." Randy gives a head nod of acknowledgement. The camera now zooms out to show a wide view of the three castaways and Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Well, it's Day 38. <G.C. can now be seen taking a deep breath> For the first time in the history of Survivor, we have three men in the Final Three… <The camera scrolls across the three smiling men, as Randy can be seen subtly nodding his head>

Jeff Probst: It's time for your final Rite of Passage. <Jeff is then shown again> You're gonna make your way to Exile, <The camera fades out to show an overhead view of the vast 'Exile' area> where you'll find 15 torches of the Survivors who are no longer in this game. <A close-up view of Charlie's torch is shown> Take a moment at each one of them to reflect on their time here: <short pause> what impact they've had on the game, <The camera then fades out to show a faraway view of Ken's torch> and what impact they've had on you. <Another view of Jeff and the Final Three Babongo members is then shown> You will then collect a tribal mask at each torch <The camera shows a tribal mask hanging from Paloma's torch> and burn them at the end of your journey to honor those who left the game before you. <G.C. nods his head, before the camera fades out to show a flickering fire, and then goes back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: When you're finished, I'll meet you on the other side of the highest plateau for your final Immunity Challenge… <Dan is shown listening intently>

Dan: Alright… <The camera then scrolls back over to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Here's a map, <Jeff can now be seen handing Randy a rolled-up map> and a little something else. <Another wide view of the castaways is shown, as Jeff hands Dan a basket of paints and decorative art supplies> You will each adorn yourselves like Gabonese warriors so that you feel more a part of this experience. <Randy is now shown with a strange expression on his face> I encourage you, for one afternoon, to let go of the game and enjoy this time. <A view of Jeff is then shown again> I'll see you over there… <A view of Dan is shown>

Dan: Thanks, Jeff… <Jeff can then be seen walking out of camp, as the camera focuses on him for a few seconds and then turns back to the three Babongo members>

G.C.: <to Dan> What do we have here, my friend? <G.C. can then be seen reaching into the basket and pulling out colored fabrics and assorted materials>

Dan: <talking aloud> Let's see what we got… <'Good Times' begins to play, as the camera shows rapid clips of the castaways adorning themselves like Gabonese warriors. G.C. is shown tying a piece of fabric around his head, before the camera switches angles to show Dan wrapping his right arm in colored fabric. A wide view of the various art supplies is then shown, as Randy grabs a red arm bracelet. The camera now scrolls back over to G.C. again>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: The fact that I've made it this far and I'm so close to going to the Final Two is a big accomplishment for me… <A wide view of the Final Three Babongo members is now shown, before the camera zooms in on Randy, who has decorated himself>

Dan: <to Randy> That looks good… <G.C. is then shown looking like a Gabonese warrior>

G.C.: <jokingly> I look hot, right?! <laughs> <Another view of G.C. is shown next>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> I think this Rite of Passage today'll just be like a reflective time to look back on everything we've done while we've been here and everything that we had to go through to get to Day 38. <G.C. can now be seen putting the Immunity necklace around his neck> You know, seein' everyone go, it's kinda been sad, but <pause> at the same time, it definitely feels good to be one of the Final Three, <The three Babongo members are now shown walking out of camp together> so I'm definitely proud of myself just for bein' here… <An aerial view of the savannah is shown, before the screen fades out>

Rites of Passage

<'Garden of Eden' begins to play, as the camera shows the Final Three Babongo members hiking along a grassy path, and then fades into an overhead view of the entire 'Exile' area. The camera now cuts ahead to show a front view of the three castaways, as they walk towards Kelly's torch. A close-up view of Kelly's torch is now shown, before the camera scrolls over to Dan, Randy, and G.C., as they gather around it>

G.C.: Kelly, she was our first to go. <Randy is now shown with a slight grin on his face>

Randy: I remember Kelly… <The camera switches angles to show G.C. again>

G.C.: She was definitely a funny one around camp, but <pause> some of the stuff she said, I don't think she was tryin' to be… <laughs> <A close-up view of Kelly's nametag is then shown, before Dan can be seen untying the tribal mask from around her torch. The camera then fades out to show a clip of Kelly digging during the first Immunity Challenge>

Kelly: Being the first one voted off was very humbling. <Kelly can now be seen holding a piece of wood, as Bob spins a stick into a small notch> It's definitely not something that I was used to, but <pause> I came to Gabon as a girl with a lot to learn about life, and I kinda grew up; <A view of Matty and Kelly walking towards the lake is shown> I just didn't know that I had so much to learn, <The camera zooms in on Kelly> so <long pause> I'm definitely leaving with a greater appreciation for everything. <A view of Kelly at Tribal Council is now shown next> Like, I'm not gonna take those little things for granted. I'm gonna be more grateful… <The camera now shows Susie's torch, as the castaways can be seen walking up to it>

G.C.: Susie! <Dan is heard repeating "Susie," as the camera continues to show G.C.> Susie was fun; <short pause> I like Sue… <A wide view of the three Babongo members standing around Susie's torch is shown, as G.C. begins to untie the tribal mask and the camera fades out to show a clip of Susie walking with a coiled rope during the hike>

Susie: Getting voted out on Day Six was definitely not in my plans, but you know what? I'm proud of myself because all I wanted to do when I got here was just try. <Susie is now crouching down in the tall grass to take a "bathroom break" during the hike> And I did do my best and I stuck it out on Exile, <The camera shows Susie trying to make fire on Exile> and I made it to Africa. You know, me. I'm just an ordinary wife and mother, <Crystal and Susie can be seen high-fiving each other> but one of the things I appreciated was just how much more deeply you can find out who you are. <An alarmed Susie can be seen sitting up in the hut and looking around> I'm excited to get back to my husband and my son, and I really hope I made them proud of me… <A side view of the Final Three castaways walking through the grassland is shown, before the camera switches to an overhead view of the 'Exile' area>

Dan: Michelle… <The camera then cuts ahead to show a view of Michelle's torch, before the camera shows the Babongo members gathering around it>

Randy: Bombshell Baller… <The camera zooms back in on Michelle's torch again, before fading out to show her pointing to something on the Fang tribe's map>

Michelle: I was not really surprised to be the first one voted out of my tribe because the bottom line is they were all idiots. <An expressionless Michelle now sits down by the fire> I'm just surprised that they all went with Corinne, <A clip of Corinne and Michelle finding the water well together is shown> who just kinda sucks, <laughs> but <long pause> the whole game was definitely harder than I thought it would be. <A prominent sound is heard, as Crystal lunges at Michelle during the third Immunity Challenge and forcefully pushes her head under the water> I guess my personality can be hard for people to swallow. <Michelle makes a disgusted face, as she eats another spoonful of rice> I was miserable out there and it kinda showed… <An aerial view of the three Babongo members making their way towards Matty's torch is then shown, before the camera cuts ahead to show them gathering around it>

G.C.: Matty was a cool guy. <Dan can be heard saying "Yeah; he seemed nice"> I think he kinda, you know, lost his motivation, but he definitely gave his all in the challenges… <The camera now shows G.C. untying Matty's tribal mask>

Matty: Getting voted off of Survivor so early was a huge shock to my system. <Kelly and Matty are shown sitting on the dock together> I just got off on the wrong foot. <The camera then zooms in on Matty> It was a bummer, dude, but <long pause> even in 11 days, now I understand suffering. <A clip of Matty and Susie struggling on the cargo net during the first Reward Challenge is shown> I thought I had experienced stress in my life, and I found out I haven't done nothin'. <The camera shows a frustrated Matty waking up> I've hardly even left LA, but by far the biggest thing I walk away with is just knowing what's most important to me in life and how much I love my dog and my girlfriend. <An excited Matty is now shown high-fiving G.C.> Now I understand real life, and it's a huge eye-opener. <An expressionless Matty can now be seen running his hand through his hair. The camera then cuts ahead to show G.C., Dan, and Randy walking up to Gillian's torch>

Randy: Gillian. <The camera focuses in on Dan and G.C. for a few seconds>

Dan: She was a sweet woman. <G.C. can be seen nodding his head> You know, she really wanted to do this… <A close-up view of Gillian's nametag is then shown, before the camera fades out to show Gillian cheering excitedly during a challenge>

Gillian: I've applied for Survivor 15 times, and every single time I sent in the application, I never stopped believing that I was going to play Survivor one day. <Gillian can then be seen holding her glasses over dry kindling, as she attempts to start a fire> Yes, it was a disappointment to be the fifth one booted off, <An eerie sound is heard, as the camera shows Gillian looking shocked at Tribal Council> but I am so incredibly thankful to get to come back to Africa and I still absolutely love the game of Survivor. <Gillian is shown chopping Fang's final rope during the second Immunity Challenge> It was an amazing experience and I'm just thrilled to be a part of it; <short pause> sad to be out of the game, but I enjoyed every single second of it. <The camera shows Gillian standing at the top of a hill on Exile, as she holds her arms out> It was awesome! <An overhead view of the castaways following the grassy path is shown, before the camera cuts ahead to show them walking up to Sugar's torch>

Randy: Sugar… <A close-up view of G.C. is shown, as he reaches for Sugar's nametag>

G.C.: I don't know, man; we never really hit it off. <Randy is now shown untying Sugar's tribal mask, before the camera fades out to show Sugar laughing and cheering>

Sugar: My time on Survivor would be best-described as a roller-coaster. <A close-up view of a teary-eyed Sugar is then shown> You know, I did this because I thought it would help me get over my dad's death, <Sugar is shown squirming, as Bob removes a leech from her leg> and in a lot of ways, it did. I mean, I definitely feel like a stronger person, but <long pause> I like to surround myself with good people and the people on Fang were all Bad Eggs, <Sugar can be seen taking off her red Fang buff and tossing it down on the ground in front of Jeff> so I'd rather be out of the game than have had to stay on Fang. <laughs> <Sugar can be seen wrapping herself in a blanket, as she sits down on a log> But, <long pause> I made friendships that I'll always treasure, <Sugar is now shown hugging Jacquie> and I hope I made my dad proud. <A front view of Bob's torch is shown, before the camera switches angles to show Randy, Dan, and G.C. walking up to it and gathering around it>

Randy: Bob… <The camera shows another view of the castaways standing around his torch>

Dan: He was like the dad around camp. The dad and the professor… <G.C. is shown next>

G.C.: He could build anything out of whatever we had. <A close-up view of Bob's nametag is then shown, before the camera fades out to show him layering leaves onto the roof of the hut>

Bob: I would hope that I proved to the people watching that an old guy like me, 57 years-old, you know, I can still compete with people half my age and, uh, I can relate to them. <Bob can now be seen hugging both Jacquie and Sugar> I formed lasting relationships and I got to use my skills and my knowledge to make everybody's lives a little easier. <Bob is shown gently blowing on the kindling, as a fire quickly ignites> I think that's why I was so liked. <Bob and Charlie are shown pulling up a fishing net together> You know, it was a good game; <short pause> I tried to play with integrity, and I think I played a good, honest game. <Jeff can now be seen snuffing out Bob's torch, before the camera fades out to show a view of Corinne's torch, and then cuts ahead to show the three remaining Babongo members gathered around it>

Dan: Corinne. <A close-up view of Corinne's nametag is now shown> I don't want to bash her.

G.C.: If she didn't take the money, I might have done it, so <pause> I'm glad she did… <The camera switches angles to show both Randy and Dan again>

Randy: This game could've changed if she stuck around. <The camera shows Dan nodding>

Dan: I hope she can learn something from this experience… <Randy is shown untying the tribal mask from her torch, before the camera fades out to show a glaring Corinne>

Corinne: Leaving the game the way I did, it was just the right time for me. <The camera shows Corinne lounging in the hammock on Exile> I just didn't want to be there anymore. I was miserable. <A clip of Corinne, Charlie, and Dan talking at Kota is shown> I didn't want to be with those people, and what can I say? I took the $50 000, <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as Corinne can be seen snuffing out her own torch> which is more than some of the people who lasted longer than me. <Jeff is then shown handing Corinne a stack of bills> I don't think Survivor will change me as a person. <The camera now shows Corinne biting into a red apple> I've always been the type of person who says what's on my mind and the people who get that, like me for it. <Corinne is then shown unearthing the hidden Immunity Idol> Everyone else, I could care less… <Another aerial view of the 'Exile' area is shown, as the three castaways can be seen arriving at Marcus' torch>

Dan: Marcus. <G.C. can be heard saying "The doctor"> I have nothing but good things to say… <A close-up view of Marcus' nametag is shown, before the camera scrolls up to show Dan untying his tribal mask. The screen then fades out to show a clip of Marcus and Bob 'floating' out in the lake in the Kota tribe's boat>

Marcus: I totally stand by my decision to choose a rock because I knew that switching my vote to Dan over Randy was something I wasn't gonna be able to do. <The camera shows a view of Marcus at Tribal Council> I felt like I made the best choice given the circumstances I had to work with, and unfortunately, I was the one who had the bad luck. <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows Marcus opening his fist to reveal the purple rock> Personally, playing the game of Survivor is something you can't really explain to people. <Marcus now grabs the yellow flag during the sixth Immunity Challenge, before plunging it back down into the mud> It's an experience only me and now seventeen seasons of people know what it's like, and <pause> to be one of only a handful of Survivors who can say that I never received a single vote against me, <Marcus is shown standing on a balance beam during a challenge> that's something that no one's gonna be able to take from me. <A faraway aerial view of the Final Three Babongo members is now shown, as they begin to walk into a forested area. The camera then cuts ahead to show them walking up to Ace's torch>

Randy: Ace is, uh, one of the best friends I made out here. <G.C. is then shown>

G.C.: I mean, he was a player, man. <Dan can be heard saying "Yeah"> He's a competitor…

Randy: I miss the accent… <The camera now fades out to show a clip of a confused Ace is shown pulling Corinne's hidden Immunity Idol out of his bag>

Ace: The survival part of this adventure was effortless, really, <The camera then shows Ace forcefully pulling up on his line, as he catches a fish> but it's the group dynamic and the social interaction that makes this game stressful, emotional, and well, hard. <Ace and Randy are now shown working on the fire pit> You know, I actually surprised myself that I was able to relate to certain people on a real personal level, <Randy, Ace, and Ken are then shown talking by the lake> but when everything else is wiped away it brings you face to face with exactly who you are. <Ace can be seen tossing a rock and shattering Fang's second tile during the fifth Immunity Challenge> Of course I'm disappointed in Crystal and G.C. for voting me off, <The camera cuts ahead to show Ace painting a black zigzag across his collarbone> but I'm disappointed in myself more than anything. <The camera shows a clip of Ace finding the hidden Immunity Idol> I got a little confident and I overestimated my ability to make rational judgments of people. <Jeff can now be seen snuffing out Ace's torch> Lesson learned… <The camera abruptly fades into a view of Ken's torch and then scrolls closer to it, before switching angles to show Final Three Babongo members walking over to it>

G.C.: Kenny! <The camera then scrolls over to an emotional Randy>

Randy: Kenny, uh, <long pause> my closest friend out here. I couldn't have gotten here without you… <The music changes to become more sympathetic, as Randy can be seen putting his hand on Ken's torch, and the camera fades out to show a clip of Ken and Gillian maneuvering Fang's ball through a table maze at a challenge>

Ken: Coming into this game as the nerdy video gamer and making it 27 days is definitely quite an accomplishment for me. <Ken and G.C. can now be seen watching a monkey at the Fang tribe's camp> I enjoyed every minute out here. It was a crazy experience just to get to play Survivor, and I made some close friends, like, especially Randy. <The camera now shows a clip of Randy and Ken hugging> You know, obviously my goal was to win, but <long pause> the experience itself has been great for me. <Ken is shown striking the flint with the machete, as a fire ignites> You know, I can do all these outdoorsy things now that I never thought I'd ever do, <A clip of Ken scaling a fish is then shown next> so <long pause> I'm definitely not the same person I was coming into it, <The camera shows a close-up view of a smiling Ken> and hopefully, you know, people back home will notice that change in me. <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera abruptly cuts ahead to show a close-up view of Crystal's torch. The camera now zooms out to show the three Babongo members walking up to it>

Dan: Crystal… <Dan can now be seen staring down at Crystal's torch>

Randy: Crystal Cox, Olympic champion. <The camera now switches angles to show G.C.>

G.C.: Out of everybody, it was definitely the hardest for me to see you go… <The camera continues to focus on Crystal's torch for a few seconds, before fading out to show Crystal and Susie walking on the fringe of a forested area together>

Crystal: This game creates such a close bond with people because you go through this emotional, physical struggle that only you experienced. <Crystal is now shown arranging her dominos during the tenth Immunity Challenge> You know, we starved together; <short pause> we shared blankets together at night just to keep warm, <The camera shows a clip of Crystal, as she eats a grasshopper> and nobody else can understand that. <Crystal is now shown looking at a photograph of her wearing her Olympic gold medal> This experience makes me realize that I don't have to be, you know, "tough Crystal" 100% of the time out here, <The camera continues to focus on a teary-eyed Crystal> and I don't have to be so bold and so aggressive. <laughs> I'm proud of the way I played the game. <Jeff can be seen putting the Immunity necklace around Crystal's neck> I had a wonderful time, and it was an amazing experience for me. <A clip of Crystal dancing with Gabonese natives at the Village Reward is shown next. G.C.: Sorry you had to go, Jacquie… <The camera now zooms in on Dan>

Dan: You know what? She was a lot stronger in challenges than I think people gave her credit for… <The camera shows Randy untying Jacquie's tribal mask, and then fades into a clip of Jacquie retrieving her first ring of keys during the twelfth Immunity Challenge>

Jacquie: The thing that surprised me most about Survivor is I didn't feel like I could be myself at all. <The camera now shows a clip of both Jacquie and Bob talking in Kota's boat> Like, I'm always the leader in everything I do, but out here, I had to make myself as unthreatening as possible, <Jacquie can then be seen scrubbing her hair during the Oasis Reward> and I'm extremely proud of how well I did. <laughs> <A view of a smiling Jacquie is shown, as she hugs Sugar> I think I did a really good job. The whole experience was incredible. <The camera cuts ahead to show a clip of Marcus and Jacquie talking> Just living in the jungle, it was something I'd never dreamt of doing, <A clip of Jacquie at the gorilla sanctuary with her mom is then shown next> but <long pause> I'm so thankful I got the chance to do this… <The camera now shows a front view of Dan, G.C., and Randy, as they walk towards Charlie's torch>

G.C.: Charlie… <A close-up view of Dan is now shown, as he puts his hand on the torch>

Dan: Charlie's a great guy… <The camera switches angles to show an expressionless Randy>

Randy: He knew the game probably better than anyone here. <G.C. is then shown next>

G.C.: He could've definitely been in the Final Two and won this game… <Dan nods his head>

Dan: Yeah; <short pause> I felt that he was probably the biggest strategist in the whole game… <Dan is then shown untying Charlie's tribal mask, as the camera zooms in on him>

Charlie: Survivor was the best experience of my life, hands-down. <Jeff is shown putting the Immunity necklace around Charlie's neck> Like, this was a dream for years and to make it this far was amazing. <The camera shows Charlie scrubbing Dan's back with his yellow buff> When I was voted out of the game, I was shocked. I could not believe what was happening. <A flabbergasted Charlie is shown raising his eyebrows at his final Tribal Council> I think my demise was that I played the strategy part of the game too much, whereas if I would have stayed true to my alliance with Dan, <The camera now shows a clip of a sad-looking Charlie talking to Dan in the grassland> I definitely would have been sitting in the Final Two, <laughs> but <long pause> I feel so grateful and lucky to have had this experience. <A clip of both Charlie and Paloma "dancing" excitedly is shown. A view of Paloma's nametag is then shown next, as the three Babongo members can be seen gathering around her torch>

Dan: Paloma; <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows a tense-looking Randy walking past her torch and G.C. says "Last one, Randy"> for somebody her size, she was a pretty big threat in this game… <The camera now focuses back in on G.C.>

G.C.: The first time that I really got to know her was at that Reward that we went on, but I'm glad that we had the opportunity… <Dan is now shown again>

Dan: I think she did herself proud. <Another view of Paloma's torch is shown next, as the camera zooms in on it and then fades out to show Paloma excitedly racing into the luxurious hut and picking up the wooden apple on Exile>

Paloma: Everyone always says that Survivor's "just a game," but it becomes your real life while you're out here in the middle of the jungle. <Paloma can now be seen in the hut, as she slices into a pineapple> You're starving; you're going to the bathroom outside; <A side view of both Paloma and Ace talking is shown next> you're not sleeping; and that's the amazing thing about Survivor that a lot of people don't understand. <The camera now shows a clip of Paloma from the fire-making tiebreaker challenge> I think by me being able to make it for 37 days, um, I think I surprised people who maybe thought I was weak, <A side view of Paloma sliding one of her pucks during the shuffleboard challenge is shown> but <long pause> I was definitely a strong person in this game and I never ever gave up… <The camera abruptly cuts ahead to show Paloma in her bathing suit, as she climbs into a bathtub of warm water at the Oasis Reward. Another overhead view of the vast Gabonese landscape is shown, as the three Babongo members can be seen walking towards a grassy hill. A side view of the castaways hiking up the hill is then shown, before the camera switches angles to show Gabonese tribesmen and women chanting around a central fire. Dan - CONFESSIONAL: We've all met some truly amazing and colorful people, and each one kinda holds a place in my heart. <The camera now shows Charlie's mask, as the flames flicker around it> Um, you know, whether I liked them or not, they had an impact on me <A close-up view of Corinne's mask burning is shown next> and I'm glad that I'm still here to be able to pay my respects. <The Final Three Babongo members are shown next, as they watch the tribal masks burn> You know, it makes you appreciate why you're here… <Randy can then be seen staring ahead. The camera now switches angles to show G.C.>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: We have our final Immunity Challenge comin' up, and I'm gonna go to war with everything inside of me, man. <The camera now shows the burnt remains of several masks> I need this. Dan: Alright; we're done… <G.C. can be heard saying "High-five!" as he high-fives Randy and then Dan. Babongo Tribe - Day 38

<'Noble Warriors' plays, as the camera shows an aerial view of the African grassland, and then fades out to show a family of elephants roaming through the beautiful savannah. A front view of the three Babongo members returning back to camp is then shown>

Dan - CONFESSIONAL: Today was our last Immunity Challenge and G.C. ended up winning. <The camera zooms in on G.C. again> I was a little bit disappointed in myself. You know, I lasted over an hour and my body suddenly gave out, I guess, so <long pause> either me or Randy's gonna go home tonight. <The camera now zooms out to show another wide view of the Final Three> Um, it's pretty unsettling having to put my fate in G.C.'s hands after the vote last night… <Another close-up view of Dan is then shown next>

Dan: <to G.C.> Congratulations! <Dan can now be seen hugging G.C.>

G.C.: <to Dan> Thank you, dude… <The camera continues to show Dan for a few seconds>

Dan - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> From what I know of G.C., he really needs this million bucks, so I feel like the prime target once again, but <pause> I definitely plan to, uh, make my case before Tribal Council… <G.C. can now be seen taking off the Immunity necklace>

G.C.: <talking aloud> I'm gonna hang this up… <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera shows G.C. hanging the necklace around his torch and then turns to Randy>

He just hung on to Crystal. <Randy is then shown again> You know, I think a lot of people are gonna be left scratching their heads on that one… <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows Dan sitting by the fire and G.C. walks back into camp>

Dan: <talking aloud> There he is: the man of the hour… <laughs> <G.C. is now shown>

G.C.: <to Dan> Don't take this the wrong way, but <pause> I don't want to talk to nobody. <A close-up view of Dan is shown, as he looks up and tenses his expression> I don't want anybody to influence my decision… <Randy is then shown with a strange look on his face, before the camera zooms out to show all three Babongo members>

Dan: <to G.C.> What? You think we're gonna sell each other out or something? <laughs>

G.C.: <to Dan> I just need some time alone to figure some things out… <A prominent sound is heard, as the music becomes more dramatic and the camera turns back to Randy>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: I knew that if I lost Immunity today I was going home tonight, and Dan definitely gave me a run for my money, probably literally, <Another rapid clip of Dan is shown next> but <pause> now the decision is in my hands, and I don't know what I'm gonna do. <G.C. is shown walking towards the lake> This is about me now; it's about winning. <A view of the tribe's wooden dock is shown, as G.C. can be seen climbing into the boat> I mean, I have to win; it's in my blood now… <G.C. is now shown paddling out into the lake>

G.C.: <talking aloud> Man, somebody help me… <The camera continues to show G.C.>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> I just decided to get away from camp, you know, so I could think about this decision, so <long pause> I hopped on the boat and paddled out and started runnin' numbers through my head, <G.C. can be seen sitting in the boat, as he uses the makeshift "checkers" pieces to count out potential jury votes> like, "this person would vote for me; <G.C. now moves a red stone into a separate pile> this person would vote for Dan; and this person'd vote for Randy," <A group of four colored stones is shown> but I just don't know, man. <laughs> <The camera continues to focus on a thoughtful-looking G.C.> It's like, for every reason that I feel like I should take Dan, there's two reasons why I should take Randy and same with the other way around… <Another view of a contemplative G.C. sitting in the Babongo tribe's boat is shown, before the camera shows an elephant trumpeting loudly and then abruptly cuts ahead to show both Dan and Randy standing around the fire>

Randy: <to Dan> It's like being on death row. <Dan now smiles and nods> Just counting down the hours 'til one of us dies… <The camera continues to focus on Dan for a few seconds>

Dan: <to Randy> I'm gonna try not to worry about it cause I know he's not gonna change his mind… <Another close-up view of Randy is then shown again>

Randy - CONFESSIONAL: The scary part about tonight's Tribal Council is that one person holds all of the power, and <pause> the even scarier part is that it's G.C. <G.C. can now be seen paddling back to the dock and climbing out of the blue boat> He's the definition of a wildcard. You know, he could decide that he doesn't want me to have a chance of winning, and uh, take Dan. <'Haunted Gabon' begins to play, as the camera shows a clip of both G.C. and Randy standing in front of the hut together>

G.C.: <to Randy> I do not want to be in this spot, man. <Randy now tenses his expression>

Randy: <to G.C.> Yeah, you do… <G.C. can then be seen looking up at Randy>

G.C.: <to Randy> I definitely wanted Immunity, but <pause> it's a decision that I wish didn't come with it… <A faraway view of Dan is shown, before the camera turns back to Randy>

Randy: <to G.C.> You're in the best position in the house, and <long pause> you wanted it. Now you got it… <The camera continues to focus on both G.C. and Randy>

G.C.: <to Randy> It's just weird, man… <The camera now zooms in on Randy again>

Randy - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> Only time will tell, you know, who G.C. takes to the finals with him. Nothing would surprise me, uh, on Day 38… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows a wide view of the tops of several trees in the jungle and then fades out to show a conflicted G.C. sitting by the fire, as he stares down at the ground>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: The deal was that me, Dan, and Randy would go to the Final Three, and <long pause> I had kindof thought that I was gonna take Randy to the Final Two this whole time, <A close-up view of Randy is shown, as he stirs a pot of beans> but Randy went and made a separate alliance with Dan, so <pause> he might not go to the Final Two after all… <A view of Dan is now shown, as he eats a spoonful of beans>

Dan: <talking aloud> Somebody's last meal of rice and beans… <G.C. is shown again>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> The other side of it is every time someone's tried to vote off Dan, they went home. <Dan is then shown breaking a piece of firewood in half> If I write Dan's name down tonight, that's it, Dan's gone. <The camera scrolls back over to G.C.> This time it only takes one vote and there's nothing he can do to get out of it… <'Big Bad Spirits' begins to play, as the camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the darkening sky and then fades out to show a clip of Dan and Randy packing their bags, before turning to G.C.>

G.C.: <to Dan> Buddy, it's been great, man. <G.C. can now be seen hugging Dan>

G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: I haven't, uh, fully made up my mind yet, <Dan is shown again> and I'm definitely gonna be weighing my options carefully until Tribal Council cause I know that the decision I make tonight could cost or earn me a million dollars… <A haunting tribal chant is heard, as the camera shows a front view of the Final Three Babongo members walking out of camp and then zooms in on an immune G.C. The screen then fades out>

Tribal Council #15 - Babongo Tribe

<'Tally the Vote' begins to play, as the camera shows an overhead view of a silhouetted hill and then scrolls above it until the Tribal Council village is in sight. The camera fades out to show the three Babongo members making their way up the long, winding path. A close-up view of a flickering flame is shown next. A view of a tribal mask is shown, before the camera scrolls over to Jeff, and then switches angles to show the three castaways walking in to the main Tribal Council area. G.C. can be seen setting his torch into its slot, before the camera shows Dan sitting down on his stump and then focuses back in on Jeff>

Jeff Probst: We'll now bring in the members of our jury: <An aerial view of the main Tribal Council area is shown, as the six jury members can be seen walking in> Ace, Kenny, Crystal, Jacquie, <The camera continues to focus on the jury members, before scrolling across the three remaining Babongo members> Charlie, <A close-up view of Charlie is shown> and Paloma, <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera turns to Paloma> voted out at the last Tribal Council. <Paloma can be seen sitting down at the end of the jury benches, before the camera switches angles to show an expressionless Dan. Jeff Probst: G.C., <long pause> as of this moment, you are the only person who's guaranteed a spot at the Final Tribal Council tomorrow night, <The camera shows a close-up view of a smiling Crystal, and then scrolls across several jury members> where you'll get a chance to plead your case to the jury. <Another view of Jeff is then shown next> What's the feeling right now? <The camera now turns to G.C., who has an overwhelmed look on his face>

G.C.: Jeff, it's overwhelming. <A quick view of Charlie is shown next> You know, this win means everything to me; <short pause> it's what I came here to do. <The camera then focuses back in on G.C. again> Unfortunately, it also comes with a big decision, and it's just hard, you know, to write one of these guys' names down and take away their dream of winning a million dollars, <Randy is now shown with a thoughtful look on his face> but it's the game and I know what I gotta do… <The camera now goes back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <to G.C.> You know you can give it up if you wanted to… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera abruptly switches angles to show all three Babongo members>

G.C.: <jokingly> No, thank you, Jeff; <laughs> I think I'm gonna hold onto it. <laughs> <The camera shows a close-up view of a watchful Crystal, and then scrolls back over to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Dan, was it a busy afternoon when you guys got back from the challenge? <A view of Dan is then shown again>

Dan: Um, you know what? It wasn't. <Ace is shown with a strange look on his face> I thought that we would each have our chance to kindof plead our case, <The camera scrolls back over to Dan> but G.C. kinda went off by himself most of the day, so <pause> it didn't really work out like that. <The camera abruptly switches angles to show G.C.>

G.C.: Cause I felt like if I let them influence me by that I wouldn't be making the decision that was true to myself, <Paloma is now shown with a thoughtful look on her face> and I wanna know that I thought this through every possible way… <Jeff is then shown again>

Jeff Probst: So G.C., take me through your options: <short pause> you can only vote for Dan or Randy… <A wide view of the Final Three castaways is shown, as G.C. nods>

G.C.: Yeah, my options are definitely limited, man. <laughs> You know, I feel like they both got friends on the jury, <The camera now switches angles to show a close-up view of Charlie> but you know, I'd like to think that I'm cool with everyone, <A rapid clip of Ken is then shown next> so <long pause> I mean, I think, I'd get some of the "Dan" votes if I keep Randy, <The camera focuses in on Dan> but at the same time, I'd get some of the "Randy" votes if I keep Dan, <A close-up view of Randy is shown next> so there's not one clear decision for me tonight… <A view of the central fire burning is shown, before the camera scrolls back over to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Dan, <short pause> since you didn't get an opportunity back at camp, <G.C. is shown turning his head> talk me through why G.C. should vote to keep you in the game. <The camera now returns to Dan for a few seconds>

Dan: Um, I think G.C. played the game closer to the way I played the game, <Several jury members can be seen exchanging glances> and I think he wants to see someone who's perceived as "good" win in the end, <A prominent sound is heard, as G.C. looks up> and as much as I've come to appreciate Randy for who he is, he did things and said things in this game that neither of us would, <Randy can be seen nodding his head> so <long pause> that would be one reason why I Randy should go home tonight… <Jeff is then shown>

Jeff Probst: Alright, Randy; <short pause> take me through it for you. <The camera now shows the three Babongo members again> Why should G.C. keep you in the game and not Dan? <A close-up view of Randy is then shown next>

Randy: Like Dan said, I've pissed a lot of people off; <Crystal can be seen nodding her head dramatically> I've made a lot of enemies. Dan's got a lot of friends on the jury; <Charlie is then shown> he's got a lot of people who like him, and <pause> you know, you can't say a bad word about him. <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows Dan with a thoughtful look on his face and then turns back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: G.C., <short pause> is there a part of you that thinks "Maybe I should take the person who deserves to win the most?" <A close-up view of Ace is now shown> or is this strictly "Who can I beat in the Final Two?" <The camera then scrolls over to G.C. again>

G.C.: Yeah; definitely, uh, it's crossed my mind, like, maybe I can't beat either of them <Randy is shown looking up, as a mysterious sound is heard> and if I can't win, who would I rather see win a million dollars? <Another view of G.C. is shown next> But, I don't want to think like that; you know what I mean? I want to look on the bright side and believe that I can win, <Dan now smiles, before the camera switches angles to show the six jury members> you know, in the Final Two, so <long pause> that's what makes it hard, Jeff. <Jacquie is shown with a sympathetic look on her face> There's so many things that come into it and on top of that, you just don't know what the jury's thinkin'… <Jeff is then shown again>

Randy: Uh, yes, but I'd be worried if anyone won that wasn't me. <The camera shows Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <to Randy> How hard is it for you to know that G.C. has this difficult decision? <A close-up view of Randy is shown, as he shakes his head carelessly>

Randy: It's not hard at all. <The camera now turns to Ken> That's what comes with winning final Immunity. He knew that before he won, <An immune G.C. is now shown with a blank look on his face> and to have him act like winning the challenge is the worst thing that's ever happened to him, quite frankly, is insulting to the rest of us. <A prominent sound is heard, as Crystal can be seen shifting her expression> I have no sympathy for his decision. <The camera scrolls across the Final Three Babongo members and then returns to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Dan, <short pause> what do you say at this point to convince someone to take you to the Final Two? <The camera now focuses back in on Dan again>

Dan: I personally don't think that anything we say is gonna change his mind at this point. <A close-up view of an undecided G.C. is shown> I mean, I think this is something he has to decide for himself for his own reasons, <G.C. can then be seen subtly nodding his head> and, um, whatever decision he makes we just have to be okay with it and live with the consequences, good or bad… <A rapid clip of both Charlie and Paloma is shown, before the camera switches angles to show another view of Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <to Dan> So if it's you tonight, you're okay with it? <Dan is then shown again>

Dan: Um, I always thought that winning was the most important thing, and uh, taking home the gold and the million dollars, <The camera shows a close-up view of a tense-looking Randy> but <long pause> I always wanted to have more confidence, more of an understanding of who I am and now I have that, <A wide view of several jury members is shown> so <pause> if I can make it to the Final Two, that would be, like, the cherry on top of this whole experience, <laughs> cause what I've learned about myself, I just don't see it as losing… <Randy is shown raising his eyebrows, before the camera returns to Jeff>

<The camera continues to focus on an undecided G.C., as he makes his way towards the voting confessional. A view of the six watchful jury members is shown, before the camera fades out to show a close-up view of an uneasy Dan and then scrolls over to a glaring Randy. A thoughtful-looking G.C. can then be seen picking up the pen and staring down at his blank piece of parchment. The camera shows a clip of Charlie, and then cuts back to G.C., as he places his folded vote into the urn and begins to walk back to the main Tribal Council area. A close-up view of a burning torch is shown, before the camera scrolls forward to show G.C. sitting back down on his stump in between Dan and Randy. Jeff is then shown again>

Jeff Probst: I'll go get the vote. <A haunting tribal chant is heard, as Jeff can be seen walking out of sight. The camera fades out to show G.C. staring into the distance, and then cuts ahead to show a close-up view of a tense-looking Randy. Dan is then shown with a blank look on his face, before the camera focuses in on the central fire, and then fades out again to show Jeff returning onto the screen with the voting urn in his hands>

G.C.: Sorry, Dan… <Dan says "It's okay." G.C. can be seen hugging Dan and patting him on the back, before the camera switches angles to show both Paloma and Charlie. A quick view of Dan hugging Randy is then shown, before the camera shows a clip of all five jury members, and then cuts ahead to show Dan placing his torch into the slot in front of Jeff>

Dan's Final Words:

Dan: So close. <laughs> Just one day away and I think I would've had it. You know, I'm a little bit disappointed right now, but I am truly changed by this experience. It humbled me; <short pause> it made me more thankful for my friends and family and everything I have in life. I think one of my major lessons is that I have to learn to just relax and not be so high-strung all the time. <The camera now cuts ahead to show a later portion of Dan's Final Words> Um, my proudest moment in the game is definitely making Final Three. I never expected that I was gonna adapt this well to my environment, but this experience surpassed all my expectations. I wish Randy and G.C. both a lot of luck in this game, and <short pause> I'm excited to get home and, uh, get back to life. <The screen abruptly fades out>

Ace: Well, I'll first start by saying that seeing the two of you sitting there actually makes this whole experience a lot more pleasurable than if it had been any of the four who left immediately before you, <The camera now shows Paloma and Charlie with slight smiles on their faces, as they look towards Ace> so <long pause> I thank you both for that. <Another view of Ace is then shown> My question for G.C.: <short pause> I mean, you spoke in your sortof opening arguments about the fact that you need the money, <G.C. can now be seen nodding his head> but <long pause> do you actually believe that your socioeconomic status should determine our votes, as a jury? <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera shows a wide view of the other six jury members> And the reason I ask is because I grew up with money and obviously you didn't, <Ace is now shown again> so I was slightly offended at the implication that maybe from your perspective I shouldn't have won this game because I had money… <The camera now scrolls back over to a thoughtful G.C.>

EPISODE 14 NOTES:

Here are a few important notes about the finale. I encourage you all to read them so that you have a better understanding of what is going on.

1) First of all, let me just give another huge thank you to everyone for reading this story and sticking with me throughout all the downtime this season. I appreciate all the comments and the feedback that I've been given, and it's great that some of you have been reading and commenting for five, six, seven seasons now - and a few even for all eight. I hope to see you all back for my next season, which will begin "in the future." I can't give anything definite right now, unfortunately.

2) A few Congratulations:

Back in December, I posted a "prediction game" with 10 questions about the season and I said that I was going to score them this time to see who got the most correct. With 6 points out of a possible 18, MasterDarkNinja scored the highest. He was the only person in the preseason poll to pick G.C. to win, so he got 3 points for that and that made him win. YemaGrl1988 and Philliminator both scored 5, which was the second highest of anyone.

Other congratulations: the following people picked G.C. to win at some point during the first few episodes, although he may not have been their top choice: OZ Keeper, neleh rocks (FGC), Brazil Luvs Ami, tacobellcanon, island sun (very accurate predictions and story insights), and zoramikau32 (FGC). I stopped writing down the people who picked him after a while so there may have been a few more. I hope I did not miss anybody.

And a few of you also correctly guessed the boot order of the Final Four in the finale. Congratulations goes out to the following: OZ Keeper, KittyPryde1, chapera rocks, and Mr X819. That means KP and cr correctly predicted every placing in the last two finales, which is pretty impressive! A lot of other people were very close in their predictions too, and I was quite amused to read what everyone thought would happen.

3) I'll be working on updating everything in the thread over the next few days, but I don't want to put any of the final images up for a while, as not to spoil anything. I will also work on a Reunion Show and preview for next season as well, but I do need to take a few days to just recuperate from this season before I launch into that. So I guess I'll just be responding to comments for a while.

Also coming up I will do KittyPryde's Top 20-25 Best Strategists list that she asked me about doing. I just wanted to wait until the end of Gabon.

4) Why did I choose G.C. as the winner?

I believe I said after Episode 7 that Bob was my initial pick for the winner. Well, I quickly decided that Bob would be too boring and not enough of a character/player to win (so of course we won the real show). But of all the contestants, one stood out to me and I was really surprised by who it was: G.C. He had been spoiled as a contestant before the show and I didn't think much of him then. I thought he'd be a difficult character to write for and I really did not expect him to bring much to the game at all. I pegged him as an early boot. But when I saw his video the day the cast was announced, I had a feeling that he should be the winner for some reason. It's similar to how I just immediately picked J.P. to win Cook Islands (Tracy was a pretty immediate choice too). So I thought about G.C. for a while, started working out the details of what the story would be, and by either the second or third day after the cast was announced (either August 28 or 29), I was solid on G.C. being the winner and I had most of the story in place.

A few things that I was looking for in the winner:

After Tracy last season, I wanted to have a less obvious winner, but it had to be someone who was still Edgically viable and whose edit would gradually pick up steam towards the end of the season. This was successful. We saw G.C. rise up the Edgic chart from #4 to #3 to #2, and this final week, it was a close battle between Dan and G.C. to see who would be the top contender. I didn't want the winner to be a huge strategist, but it had to be someone who was willing to make a few moves when necessary. Another thing was that I had been wanting to have an African-American winner for a long time and was waiting for the right opportunity to come up. The fact that this season was filmed in Africa certainly helped with that because I wanted the location to be a bigger part of the story than it had been before, and I liked the idea of having a black person win in Africa. Plus G.C.'s background naturally lent itself well to the story I created for him. He came into the game as someone who was kindof independent and had lived a difficult childhood. Throughout the show, he gained a greater appreciation of being in Africa by winning the Rewards and just developed a better understanding of himself and had something positive to take from winning the million dollars and give back to his community. He was underestimated the entire game and then he really came through in the end with Immunity, did well at the Final Tribal Council, and won the game. It was supposed to be kindof an inspirational story, although I really held back on it until the end so he wouldn't be too obvious a winner. Another interesting thing was that his name G.C. stands for two things: Golden Child or "God's Child." So "God's Child" won the game in "Eden" and Adam and Eve were the first men and women created by God, so that was just something that happened to fit well.

I hope all of that makes sense. I really should record more of my thought process at the beginning of the season instead of trying to remember everything I was thinking back about 9 months ago.

Also, when the real show aired and he got the type of edit he did and then he ended up "quitting," I knew that he was going to be my new Joel - the character that was hated on the real show but that I would have to make people like and get behind. G.C. was the lowest in my preseason Popularity Poll and he gradually rose up in popularity, usually being around 70% which I think is pretty good. I'm glad I was able to accomplish that and I'm pretty sure he'll go up again after the finale.

Another interesting fact: I only noticed recently that out of all 8 of my winners, G.C. is the *only* one to attend the very first Tribal Council. Every other winner was on the tribe that won the first Immunity Challenge.

5) Randy/Dan:

A quick note on these two. From the beginning, these two were kindof supposed to be distractions in that one was overly positive and one was overly negative. I also intentionally gave them polar opposite edits in the premiere with Randy being CPN and Dan being CPP. With the "good vs. evil" storyline from earlier in the merge and Dan and Randy both forming a Final Two alliance in the pre-finale episode, I hoped that some of you would think Dan and Randy were the Final Two and that would lead you away from G.C. being in the end. I also tried to suggest that they might be the Final Two in some of my posts by emphasizing Dan's positivity and Randy's negativity.

What If It Was G.C. vs Dan?

In this case, Jacquie would probably be the swing vote unless Paloma voted for G.C., which I also think is likely. I could honestly see either one of Dan or G.C. winning in this scenario. I'm actually going to give G.C. an edge, which is interesting considering that Dan was supposed to be this huge jury threat.

ACE: G.C. (or maybe Dan as a respect vote)

KEN: G.C.

CRYSTAL: G.C.

JACQUIE: ???

CHARLIE: Dan

PALOMA: Dan (or maybe even G.C. due to his answer about wanting to help kids in Africa) = I could see her voting for G.C. since he tried to save her at F4 and she didn't go out on the best terms with Dan

What If There Was A Final Three?

Like last season, I did think about having a Final Three this season and I considered different options with either Dan or Paloma in the end. Having Paloma in the Final Three might have been irrelevant, but then again, she might get votes from Charlie and Jacquie too.

Had the Final Three been G.C./Randy/Dan, it would have certainly been interesting because it would have broken down as follows:

MARCUS: G.C. or Dan

ACE: Randy

KEN: Randy

CRYSTAL: G.C.

JACQUIE: Randy or Dan

CHARLIE: Dan

PALOMA: Dan (or maybe even G.C. due to his answer about wanting to help kids in Africa)

As you can see, the votes would have been very hard to determine in this case and it would have most likely worked out to a 3-2-2 scenario with either Randy or Dan as the winner. The other possibility would be a 3-3-1 tie between Randy and Dan (if Marcus voted for Dan.

6) I guess I'll go through the episode scene by scene now like I usually do and make some more comments as I go through that:

7) Night 36 - after Charlie's boot:

Night 36 scene: I think this is a good way to start off the finale. Dan escaped his fifth time on the chopping block and he explains that Randy and G.C. were the ones who kept him in the game so his alliance with them is staying tight. A good way to think of this is that it's similar to the situation with Sierra after the Brendan blindside in Tocantins. Paloma was really Charlie's follower but she still suffers the consequences for following along with Charlie's decision to vote out Dan and she is next to go because of it. Paloma then says she's not going to go down without putting up a huge fight. So we know she's going to try to pull something off before Tribal Council. Nothing more to say on that.

8) Final Four scene - pre Immunity Challenge:

This Day 37 scene begins with a little part from G.C. where he talks about Survivor being difficult but not real suffering. I felt this was important to include given the difficulty of his childhood and the fact that he's supposed to be growing and developing a greater awareness to the world around him. I also feel like it was a nice thing to have since it's more lighthearted and would break up the monotony of what could have been all strategizing. I actually cut the strategizing out of this scene because it was really irrelevant and didn't affect anything.

At one point, there was supposed to be a part where Dan talked to Randy about voting out G.C. at F4 and taking Paloma to F3 because she'd be easier to beat - the same reason G.C. used to justify voting for Dan. The idea behind this was that it made Randy suspicious that Dan would take Paloma to F2 and so Randy's vote would appear more up in the air going to Tribal Council. I also wanted G.C. to appear like he might go home. But I didn't want to have Dan look like he was betraying G.C. because it wasn't right for his character.

So it basically skipped right to the Immunity Challenge, but I put some confessionals in there from Randy and Paloma that I think were pretty appropriate. The confessional from Randy was supposed to make you think that she might actually win.

9) Final Four Immunity Challenge:

The Final Four Immunity Challenge is pretty typical of the kind they have on the real show nowadays. I like the maze challenges and unless I'm having a severe memory lapse, I believe this is the first time I ever did a vertical maze like Vanuatu. So it's pretty standard: collect the puzzle pieces and build the puzzle, but I like challenges that have a physical and mental aspect to them. I just don't think it's that exciting to read (or write) about. A challenge like this is basically people running through a maze, collecting a puzzle piece, and running back. Boring. But there's nothing I can do about it.

Of course the challenge ends up being between Dan and G.C. I'm sure nobody expected any differently since Paloma has done poorly in almost every individual challenge and Randy simply wouldn't be as fast as the two younger guys, especially when it comes to climbing up ledges. I don't like when young, strong guys dominate all the challenges though so I tried to not have that throughout the season, but at the end, there weren't many choices left of who to have win.

So G.C. wins his first individual challenge here, and Dan's strong performance reinforces the obvious - that Dan is G.C.'s biggest threat for the final Immunity Challenge. Paloma gets another confessional at the end reminding you that she's gonna do *something* although we're not quite sure yet what that *something* is…

10) Final Four Strategy Scene:

I surprised myself by how much I liked this strategy scene. G.C. being safe meant that one of the original Fangs was going to go, and with Paloma clearly on the outside, it was her turn to do the scrambling. I actually have to applaud her for the way she played here - I think she did really well. First she went to Dan about having the two of them and G.C. vote off Randy, but Dan wasn't going to betray his new alliance. There was also a part where she talked to G.C. about voting Randy, but he said that it wouldn't make sense for him to vote Randy but he might vote Dan. This is the part of the conversation that was shown. With only G.C. and Paloma, there would presumably be a tie, so G.C. does try to convince Randy, but they both know that due to his hatred for Paloma he probably is going to vote her off still. I'm sure Paloma did practice fire throughout the day and once G.C. talked to Randy, I'm sure Randy told Dan and Dan practiced fire too. I just wasn't going to belabor the scene like that and I didn't want to make the tie situation incredibly obvious.

The part about the alliance is kindof important because Randy denies that he made a Final Two alliance with Dan, and G.C. says there's no reason why he shouldn't vote Dan off then. This becomes important at F3. I think that's all for this scene…

11) Final Four Tribal Council:

I would say this Tribal Council is just okay. I really have nothing to say about it. I think the answers are pretty self-explanatory. You basically know coming into it that G.C. is either going to vote Paloma out 3-1 or make it a tie against Dan. Either way, Paloma is likely to go home, so even though the tie was irrelevant in terms of changing the outcome, it was a move that I believe G.C. would make. He needed the million dollars and he wanted to guarantee himself the best chance by keeping Paloma instead of Dan. It was smart. It just didn't work due to Dan's superior fire-making skills.

12) The Tie:

I remember writing in my notes after Cook Islands that I was tired of the Final Four fire-making challenge and I wouldn't be using it again for a while. I avoided it for three seasons and now I've had it back-to-back in Micronesia and Gabon, so I'm at the point where I'm going to try to not use it again for a while.

One of my concerns with having this tie was that there was another woman who lost to a man in the tiebreaker challenge, just like Sundra lost to JP, Mary lost to Mikey, and now Paloma lost to Dan. I didn't want it to seem like I think women are incapable of making fire on Survivor, but in all of these situations I do think these men would be more skilled at it.

So Dan wins the challenge and saves himself now for the SIXTH time. As I said, no matter what, Paloma was going to go home, but having a tie was important to show that G.C. was playing the game to win here. And that he would probably get Paloma's jury vote even more now. And another thing to point out is that Randy's cheering for Dan and the fact that Randy still voted for Paloma made G.C. suspect that R/D did have an alliance even though Randy denied it.

13) PALOMA AS THE FOURTEENTH BOOT:

I'll talk a little bit about Paloma now. I really enjoyed Paloma this season, and just to clarify, when Jeff said that she "impressed him" or "surpassed his expectations" it was because she made it to the Final Four and because she spoke her mind more than he expected and pitted herself against guys like Ace and Randy, which provided moments like the Ace/Paloma idol fiasco in Episodes 5/6 (one of my favorite things of this entire season) and the harsh comment about Randy's dog in Episode 11 (one of my favorite TCs of the season). I know she was invisible for the first four episodes, but it was explained by her strategy and she disappeared again for a few episodes at the beginning of the merge, but I think she was good for the story when she was shown.

After Episodes 5/6 I wanted people to LOVE her and then towards the end of the season, the editing made her and Charlie more negative so I know she lost some fans. Still, she has maintained some people who have her as their favorite and I'm sorry to those that she didn't win. Like the Crystal fans, I could see some of the Paloma fans rating the episode low for her finishing in fourth place. I really hope that doesn't happen though…

14) Night 37 scene - Final Three:

So Paloma is gone and for the first time in Survivor history, there are three men in the Final Three. I think it should happen on the real show eventually. Anyway, this scene is short and simple, but I like it. Basically Randy gets to gloat a bit about Paloma going home and having a 2/3 chance of winning final Immunity and going to F2 with Dan. G.C. realizes that in order to get to the end, he HAS to win Immunity and he says the line "I'm the underdog now," which is the title for the finale. The odds are against him but he's about to pull off a strong performance in order to come out on top in the game.

15) Final Three / Rite of Passage:

The scene begins with a confessional from G.C. and I think it's probably a good indicator that he was going to win Immunity. You're supposed to feel for him here and by happy when he does end up winning it.

Then Jeff comes to camp to explain the Rite of Passage. He hasn't done this since season 9 of the real show and I think it's getting repetitive just having them read a treemail message that explains the RoP. The mail has been almost exactly the same since Exile Island or Cooks so something different needed to happen and I liked the idea of Jeff coming back to camp like he used to.

I always get comments saying that the Rite of Passage was boring and I generally agree with the people who say that. Although it's usually one of my favorite parts of the actual show, I think they've been making it too long and too dull lately. I tried to keep it as short as I possibly could and having only 15 people to go through when better than 17 in Micronesia, so hopefully most of you didn't find it to be too bad this time. Micronesia's was way too long, I think! Actually, I just checked and this one wasn't much shorter. :S

I always struggle to write these. They're very tedious and time-consuming because I have to comb through all the old episodes to find little "clips" of the voted-off people to show during their little speech and I'm sure most of you don't care about what the booted castaways have to say.

16) Final Immunity Challenge:

One of the things I spent a lot of time thinking about was what I could possibly have for a final Immunity Challenge. For China and Micronesia, I reused old challenges from the real show and the last few final ICs from the real show have not been good at all. I think the final challenge should always be an endurance challenge because it shows who wants to be in the Final Two the most and who's willing to endure pain and discomfort for it. So I like the idea behind this ring challenge because it's simple and it's never been done on the show before.

The rule was initially supposed to be that you had to always have both feet and *one* hand on the ring and you could switch hands for the first hour, but after that, you had to only pick one hand for the rest of the challenge. I thought that would be too confusing, so I just decided you had to have both hands and feet on it the whole time until the one hour mark.

Once again, I think it was pretty obvious that this challenge would be between Dan and G.C. I liked some of G.C.'s commentary about being the underdog and how he tried to use this to give himself more power and get a mental edge over Dan. Again, Randy was cheering on Dan because he knew this was his sure bet to get to the Final Two. G.C. would be more of a "wildcard" and could take either guy. And that's what I want in deciding who wins the final challenge - suspense for the F3 scene and Tribal Council.

So G.C. wins the final Immunity Challenge, and based on the reaction afterwards with G.C. getting teary-eyed over it and realizing that his life is going to change no matter what, you are supposed to be very happy for him. This was a bit of a dilemma for me because I thought it would be better for his story for Dan to go home at F4 so that G.C. can easily beat Paloma and Randy, but there was no logical way for Dan to go at four and that would have removed all suspense from the final challenge. At least this way there was a possibility of Dan actually winning it.

17) Final Three Scene Before TC:

I think this scene is pretty good even though there's not too much going on. I like the idea behind G.C. going off by himself and not wanting to hear from Randy or Dan so that he could make the decision on his own. That was what I wanted to do to begin with, but I got the idea of him going out in the boat from the real show when he took off before a challenge so it was inspired by that a little bit. He was also counting out jury votes using rocks representing each juror and putting the rocks into piles to determine how he thought the votes would go: ie. piles for G.C. vs. Dan, and G.C. vs. Randy. I thought that was smart.

I also liked Randy's kindof insulting comments about G.C. here where he says the scariest thing is that G.C. has all the power and he's such a wildcard. But I think G.C. really did think things out very well here. He considered a lot of different options and it was significant that after Dan escaped all these Tribal Council votes he finally got eliminated by a single vote.

18) Final Three Tribal Council:

The Final Three Tribal Council is always one of the first parts that I write of the finales for some reason, whereas the F4 one is always one of the last. I think this is a pretty good Tribal Council.

One thing that annoys me is that sometimes the person who wins the final Immunity acts like it's the worst thing in the world because they have to vote someone out - Amanda in Micronesia is the perfect example of this. I mean, just be happy that you're in the Final Two and I like that Randy called G.C. on this when he was acting like he didn't want to have to vote one of them out. I also thought it was funny that Jeff told him he could give it up when he acted like it was such a burden.

I'm not sure how I would feel about Jeff asking Dan and Randy why G.C. should keep them after he said he wanted to make the decision by himself and for his own reasons. But without these questions, there would be no Final Three Tribal Council so I really had no choice here.

G.C.'s final answer should make it pretty obvious that Dan is going to be the one going after all. I tried to create some doubt by having Randy antagonize G.C. a little bit and G.C. saying that he might not take Randy because of him making an alliance with Dan.
