I think the overall quality of these designers is very poor. The designs are either pedestrian or out and out bad, tacky bad. And the execution looks cheap and
sloppy. PR is so much better than this horror show of bad snotty attitudes (only excusable when you really do have talent - and then only if it entertains)

I think people romanticize Project Runway too much. Every year, 90% of the designers are just as shitty (and as loathsome) as these people. Yeah, over the
years, they've found a handful of people worth watching, but the talent pool is dwindling - designers with the knowledge and the experience and the skills
needed to do what they're asked to do for these shows on the most basic level don't grown on trees. And "The Fashion Show" had to cast from
the picked-over pool of a post-multiple-seasons-of-PR pool. We'll see how the next season of Runway is. In general, these shows have the most talented
casts in seasons 2 & 3 -- after the show has been seen and legitimized, but before all the good people have already come and gone... After that, the law of
diminishing returns kicks in...

It was that bitchy hater, I forget her name. But she did know YSL and she thought she was doing something Rive Gauche and they said it was just gauche. No, it was the gay guy who got eliminated early. It might not have been YSL, since the only things I remember were Kim insulting the ugly girl and the boring guy winning every challenge. |

I actually LOVE Merlin's fanciful collection. It is unlike anything you would see from a run of the mill designer!
ETA: Johnny's is a snooze fest and JP... JP! What the Hell that looks like something you'd wear to a coma! Reco's actually was the only one with a cohesive look (well Merlin's too, but no chance at all he'll win), though 1 and a half of the pieces were dreadful.

Real clothes for real people?
3, 4, and 5 in the ones I posted? Can someone explain the appeal of the roller derby costume in Johnny's? And did he save money on material by keeping everything 2 inches below the crotch or less? |

Yes real slothes for real people. A real freak, a real Eco-Dominatrix and a real Pyromaniac who is making herself a better person by dressing instead of doing.

I predict Johnny wins. His clothes will be the cheapest to offer on BRAVO's site.

Drew B wrote:Actually, I think the crop of designers has improved on Project Runway since the first season.. The only dip it took was during season 2. But I can pretty much remember all the final collections. There are always at least 2 that blow the audience away. And Drew, you're discounting graduating Fashion School students as a constantly renewing source of talent. Plus there are designers that work at big labels, Like Christian, that want a shortcut to their own label as opposed for toiling for years under someone else's. Then you also have the small boutique oriented designers that want to expand their brand too as possible contestants for the show. As the 3 page long train wreck that happened in my absence- WOW. It was glorious. Happy Friday, bitches, even you Adam. |

You figure a few years ago, they had the pick of all of those sources and probably culled the best of them. Are there really dozens of dozens of new people each year with all of the criteria? Maybe. If so, it can go on indefinitely. If not, the quality will decline... |

I really liked the challenge presented to the designers this week. Yet to me, it is the show that is failing in the execution more than the contestants.
Wasn't it Bravo offering last week's winning skorts in brown and black as opposed to the black and white of the original design? Brown? How
dare they?
The failing in execution this week is depending on a vintage store to provide examples of the iconic designs. Did anyone else notice that they were displayed like "yay! We found some of their dresses!" Not like, here are the actual design elements that made these designer's famous. It missed the mark for me and handicapped the contestants. Why not provide more information for the designers as well as the audience. I'm a fashion plebeian. I'm supposed to know all about someone as obscure as Miss Gres? I liked the idea behind "The Fashion Show" at first. But it looks like Bravo has bitten off way more than they can deliver. Those knock-offs they are offering for sale each week are ugly as shit. It makes it appear as if they only choose the winners by what they can produce quickly and cheaply. Overall I'm really disappointed in this show. |

The reason there is so much comparison to PR is that it came first and there is a great chemistry between the hosts and a likability factor that noone on this
show delivers, except Fern. Isaac and Kelly are irritating as fuck.
Also, not sure if anyone here watched PR Canada this past cycle, but they had a challenge similar to this, and some young kid didn't know who YSL was and he got shit for it. I think he was even kicked off that episode. Oh for what it's worth, I've met cg....he's a good looking guy. |

Fern's blog says that the samples of the icon designers they provided were not that great.
I wish they had just given each one a photo composite or something, along with the ones cheap ass Bravo came up with to show them. ![]() I really don't get this one. Anyone? The black eye? The great pumpkin take off? WTH? |

Exactly. Even if you know a designer' style, if you want inspiration it is always good to provide adequate source materials.

I liked Merlin's and JP's the most. But since Reco and Danielle have been the main focus this whole season, one of their boring final collections will
win.

WTF, so it's been revealed that Reco, Daniella, JP, and Jonny R are the final 4? JONNY R? PUKE.
