There is no team like REAL MADRID. The best team in the world!!!!

Real Madrid can buy as many world-class players as they want but their defense is still weak as hell. They were stupid for what they did to Makelele, who was
probably their best player ever.
I was actually watching the USA vs Spain game with a bunch of friends who were Liverpool fans (ew) so obviously they were Spain supporters. It was hilarious USA ftw! I love Brazil but it would be amazing to see the Americans win. Not going to hold my breath but stranger things have happened... |

You are so right, when they let Makelele go it was down hill for them from there, I do like Robben and hopefully they keep him around. At this point I am also
rooting for USA to win, I cannot stand Brazil.

Spain was ranked #1 in the world by FIFA, but trying to choose between Italy, Spain and Brazil is like trying to rank the top seeds in the NCAA basketball
tournament -- pointless.
Whatever else happens, this is the most important game that the US has ever played in soccer. Ever. |

Well, not really, this is a second tier tournament and I think at this point the US beating England in the world cup to eliminate them has got to be a better
win, also the win against Mexico to make the elite 8 was awesome too.

What's the difference between Sir Alex Ferguson and Michael Jackson?
Ferguson will be playing Giggs in August. |

Etxeverria wrote:"Second tier" is a little strong, don't you think? On the iternational stage, of course it's not the World Cup, but it's superior to the Olympics or Euro 2008 or something. This one has all of the federation winners plus the WC winner (and host country). I think it's better to say that it's the second most important tournament in the 4 year WC cycle. And the fact that the US is playing for its first ever intercontinental championship? Most important.game.evah. The England game is intereating to read about, but it was an aberration, and had no impact on the sport's popularity at home. Beating Mexico was immensely satsifying though. I hate those fuckers. |

Soccer is the international sport of whites, multiculturals as well as colonials ... I ADORE IT!!! [The fact that my cousin [my first cousin] played for a well known SA country may or may not be true.] |

I actually get a little pissed about the emphasis on the US women's team. Face it: they damn near lost to China on home turf in a shoot-out. And since then
haven't made the championship game.
Oh well. It's good for the sport, I guess, and probably really good for tweener girls to have sports heroines that don't look like the Chinese gymnasts. |

Piranhahaha wrote:Lmao, the Confederations Cup IS second tier. It's a complete joke. All the best teams are in Europe, with a few in South America. The Euro Cup is the most competitive obviously, followed by the World Cup.. No one gives a damn about the Confederations Cup. |

I thought Brazil was suppose to be good? Or are we just playing uber amazing? It feels like we have posession more than they do, which felt like the opposite
of the Spain game.
