Jeff, that's why I'm so confused about Spencer's high placement. He didn't do much of anything to be enjoyed. I know you
have a hard-on for Jeremy, but let's be honest here. ;)

Speaking of hard-ons for Jeremy, you were the person who said this to him: onos i did sex 2 u And later he said: Brian I didn't see you there. You're not my friend, you're my secret wife. You know why. |

Regardless of those innocently-spoken comments, I would've still ranked him no higher than 12th. ;)

This is the last update before the halfway point. As I said, I will do a lurker ranking. No need to take one day per lurker, so I'll just rank all five
tomorrow. I'll get back to ranking the final 8 players on Thursday. So, without further ado, 9th place.....
#9 Played by: Jeremy 13th place in the game Sounds like he got farther than you all had anticipated. I'm sure you're wondering why I ranked him this high, so let's get to it. I consider Jeremy to be one of the best players around, especially after seeing his awesome win in Nepal. The dude knows how to play the social game better than just about everyone, even if Tocantins wasn't the best example of this. I never thought I'd get Jeremy to play, but he did, and he was quite excited to be involved. Unfortunately, he missed the first couple key days of having PMs in the game, branding him as one of the more inactive Jalapao members right alongside Carolina. Due to his tribe's first two challenge victories, however, he stuck around. It was the second immunity challenge of the game that turned Spencer from the nice guy into the crazy OTT strategist. It was hilarious to watch, really. He was the negative answer to a couple questions in a poll about your own tribe members, and he took it to heart. He was surprised that he was the least talkative, for example. So, armed with this information, he set out on a crusade to save himself and destroy the powers that be of Jalapao. He started off by shouting Brendan's name for their next kidnapping, after the second challenge. Whether on her own or going off of Spencer's suggestion, Sydney chimed in with Brendan as well, and this brought the tribe to kidnap Brendan, a move that changed the rest of the game. Meanwhile, Spencer ran back to his confessional, appalled that his silly suggestion to kidnap Brendan actually worked, even if the credit really didn't go to him at all. Spencer threw his whole game out at that point. He devised a plan and went into overdrive with it. His new goal was to get rid of a power player, and he had his sights set on Taj. Ironically, this was the last time Taj would actually be targeted until MUCH later in the game. Anyway, Spencer's devious plan started off the chain which created possibly the biggest clusterfuck of a tribe I've ever seen. Jalapao was different than early Timbira. While Timbira had strategic alliances with a power shift, Jalapao had a mess of individual relationships and very small pacts going on. Adding Brendan to that mix, a strong social player himself, and you've got nine people all working on their own agenda and, for the most part, ignoring the idea of setting up a solid voting bloc to hold a majority. But that's what Spencer tried to do, yet eventually failed. He tried to gather the outsiders and made three wise selections - Carolina, Stephen, and Brendan. He just needed that fifth, which was hard to come by as Joe, JT, and Sydney were strongly aligned with Taj in their own separate ways. Sandy, according to others, was off on her own, never really settling down into an alliance or choosing a side. This strategy was echoed by many others in Jalapao, such as Carolina, who spilled secrets left and right, adding more fuel to that clusterfuck of a fire. A big problem Spencer had was that he wasn't online enough to see his plan through. He would get online and turn on the charm in a major way. He had some hilarious PMs that I read, and it was fascinating to see him type up a long message that asked someone what their favorite Power Ranger was and where their loyalties in the tribe were all at the same time. People liked him, but they also knew he was playing the game hard. He was open about this. Eventually, because he couldn't get the numbers, everyone just decided to boot Spencer unanimously when Jalapao lost their first and only immunity challenge. I credit Spencer for making Jalapao what it was. There was nothing going on in the tribe, no drama, no nothing. Brendan joining the ranks was fine by them, as either he would be a valuable member or an easy boot. But no, Spencer targeting Taj, the one person who really had her social game set up, ended with hilarious results and involved a crazy weekend between the second and third rounds where all nine were involved in a soap opera of lies, deceit, betrayals, etc. Sound dramatic? Good. Because it was. |

I liked Spencer and I tried really, really hard to get him to switch his target from Taj to Carolina because I knew he was sinking himself, but he was so
dead-set on breaking up JT/Taj/Sandy which wasn't even a real alliance.
Anyway, I really think Carolina had more to do with the clusterfuck on Jalapao than Spencer did. Spencer came up with his plan to overthrow the people he thought were at the top, but Carolina was the one that spread everything like rapid-fire and that's what caused everything to explode. From what I remember he and Carolina telling me, they had Stephen and Brendan and wanted me as the fifth but I'm not sure if they said the same thing to Joe. And then all of the sudden she took it all back because "nobody was on-board" even though she had just claimed that she had four solid But seriously, early Jalapao <3 eta - And predictions!

Spencer
His first PM to me was something like "don't be surprised if you get multiple people orgasming over your avatar." I had him figured out so easily. There's something about his style that's so OTT and fascinating. You can spot it from a mile away cuz he really is that good. Wish he played a Timbira character instead. >_> |

It's time for a break as we jump into the lurker rankings! I'll do them all in one post, so let's get to it. For those who don't know/need a
reminder, there were five lurkers, all named after animals in Tocantins, and they resided in the Lurker Zoo as they observed the players and the game.
#5 Identity: Chapera rocks Due to real life reasons (I think it was school), Chapera rocks wasn't around often to lurk. I actually had to remind him of the game about two weeks into it. It's a shame too, since Jaguar sounds so cool and he had an awesome avatar. #4 Identity: Mister Plum He was around a little more often than the Jaguar. He wouldn't post often, but when he did, he expressed some sort of odd thought, whether it was about the game or not. The other lurkers weren't quite sure what to make of him, and since this was my first gaming experience with Mister Plum, I didn't know what to think about him either. #3 Identity: Super Jude Super Jude came late to the party, towards mid-jury. I was chatting with him via PMs on Yuku, and I thought it'd be cool to bring him in as a lurker. He read a good amount of the board for coming in so late and although he didn't post often, he had intelligent things to say with his observations of the players. And finally….. #1 (Tie!) Identity: tropical rain (Falcon) Thailandsurvivor (Tapir) Sorry to end this in a tie (the player rankings will have an actual winner, don't worry) but I couldn't rank one above the other. Both of these guys were extremely active and were everything a host would want in a lurker. They logged in multiple times a day to check up on what was happening in the game, despite not being able to see confessionals. I tried to make the Lurker Zoo as interactive as possible by posting confessional snippets in their forum for them to read. Falcon and Tapir read them, shared their thoughts, and requested certain players' confessionals for me to post. They also got numerous PMs each during the game from the players, who were more than happy to entertain them. Lurking Falcon was a huge Erinn supporter. Due to a special reward challenge about halfway through the game, he was able to declare his love to her in a special Lurker Love Letter. He also made the lurker avatars which you see here, a feat that takes him above and beyond most lurkers I've seen in any other game. Also, look at the background of those lurker avatars. What does it look like? Lurking Tapir embraced himself being an animal not so well-known by many members of the cast. They constantly asked him what a tapir was, even though he couldn't respond to their PMs. One such player who took a liking to him, JT, threatened to rip off his tapir balls if he didn't support him. That's how the JT love thread in the Lurker Zoo was started. Lurking Tapir was happy to watch his favorite make it all the way to the end of the game, providing humorous commentary throughout the game. And that'll do it for the lurker rankings. Tomorrow we'll begin the second half of the player rankings, with one update per day until the "winner" is revealed. |
