I suspect that Maryam applied for her passport once she knew she would need it (probably after going to the audition in January.) Filming started in March, and for most, this would be enough time to get your passport in check, but Maryam perhaps became one of the unlucky people who experienced the delay.
Rather than make the show into a political forum about passport delays, they are just brushing over the reason why she doesn't have it for the viewers, but at the same time, they aren't holding it against her, because it isn't her fault that they are taking more than the usual two weeks (and if she paid the extra for it to be 'rushed', 'they' would still probably have delayed it for the same reasons they are delaying it now.) It would be short-sighted to kick her off just for a technicality out of her control that once her passport gets through the red tape will no longer be an issue.
