I think by this statement, 'they' is the passport office. While some of us have no problems getting our passports on time, there are people who have huge delays for whatever reason (news used to report delays of 6 or so months). I suspect that Maryam applied for her passport once she knew she would need it (probably after going to the audition in January.) Filming started in March, and for most, this would be enough time to get your passport in check, but Maryam perhaps became one of the unlucky people who experienced the delay. Rather than make the show into a political forum about passport delays, they are just brushing over the reason why she doesn't have it for the viewers, but at the same time, they aren't holding it against her, because it isn't her fault that they are taking more than the usual two weeks (and if she paid the extra for it to be 'rushed', 'they' would still probably have delayed it for the same reasons they are delaying it now.) It would be short-sighted to kick her off just for a technicality out of her control that once her passport gets through the red tape will no longer be an issue.

Posts: 81 (07/03/09 6:46 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Okay, last time I am posting regarding the passport issue - 1) I have never heard of ANYONE who has had to wait more than 4 weeks in total (and that is by sending it by mail, not in person) who had to wait for a passport; 2) You can get an expediated passport in less than 3 working days (as little as one day); and 3) even if she isn't a Canadian citizen she would have had to have a passport from her home country to enter Canada in the first place so she could have used that one for the show.

Having a valid passport should be one of the criteria for acceptance on this show, particularly since they have started to go on international trips for CNTM.

Posts: 82 (07/05/09 3:04 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	I meant that since she is a new comer to Canada that I would assume the passport she entered into Canada with would be still valid and she could have used it to enter the US....I also thought during the taping of the show that Canadians were still able to enter the US with a photo ID as long as they travelled by car, but since she isn't a citizen she wouldn't have been able to drive across regardless. Also, since my friends that were born outside of Canada have had received their passports in the same amount of time that I did I am assuming that it would be because she is from Iran that hers is delayed (no delays from friends born in Ireland, France or Australia).
