That is the first time I have ever herd anyone say this. SEG has kept wraps on this very successfully. Sure there were lots of rumors and Wikipedia gives a theoretical payout schedual in regards to finish number, but this is the first confirmation of it I've herd.

Uh... i'ts been common knowledge since the early years... Also apparently the wages went from 2,500 for first boot to 25,000 for the first boot in All-stars.

If Eliza confirmed it before sorry I didn't see it. Wikipedia lists those numbers you show and they really were just a rumor.

On the subject of compensation Eliza, did you hear about the court ruling in France on their reality TV programs? Basically, it says that participants have to be considered like employees and therefore are protected by the labor laws, meaning no more than a certain number of hours of work a day and at least a day off each week. The producers of "Loft Story", France's version of Big Brother, have said they are reconsidering running a new season. Do you think something similar could happen in the US courts and affect Survivor? I can imagine Probst going: "Come on in guys" and someone answering: "We're off for the day".

Eliza, do you know if casting has rules they kind of go by for people with small kids (under the age of 5)? I have heard that they might try to not put people on like this, but would love your insight. Ta!

I know you've touched on some things before, but what kind of clothing is best for the experience in general? Did the men who wore boxers tend to be more comfortable than those who wore briefs? Obviously denim is a bad choice since it doesn't dry quickly. Is a long sleeve shirts better than a tank top? I mean, what would you tell someone to pack? What would you tell people to avoid?
