It wasn't until After the Rose that they broke up, and Jillian was announced as new Bachelorette at the same time. Jill and Meli are good friends, still in close contact. But, apples and bicyles in terms of phusical looks and personality. They both have substance..Mel's nervous giggle notwithstanding. As for the timing, and it's really not important so the short version: Shortly after the wrap of The Bach, which was in late fall, Fleiss knew what Jason wanted to do (switch). So, he was casting The Bachelorette at that time,and just figured, he got a great story. Jason dumps Melissa, Melissa does The Bachelorette. In like Jan/Feb when it actually happened, Meli said no and Fleiss was left with 25 guys picked for a 25 year old DCC from Dallas, and went to plan B which was Jill. And added 5 more guys. But Jill's got 2/3 in her final 3 that came from the 5 add ons, so I guess she had choices after all.

I'm not sure what's more outrageous. The fact she wastes a fine bottle of soda on this trainwreck or the bit about the video game. Must be another "sex is conditional" sort of deal.

They are convinced that the Reid/Jillian shower caps happened last episode, and they don't even figure that it could be in Hawaii. You know, when she actually starts to accept the overnights... Also there were days devoted to matching a picture of Ed at a hotel in green swim shorts, and the catamaran ride....that's how they were convinced that he was F2, but as of the preview, it happens at F3... They've been pretty wrong this year, thinking Mike (not Michael) lasted F5...ID'ing Reid as the one who got dates that instead went to Michael and Jesse... I'm thinking it really could go either way, just kinda hoping Reid isn't F1 for Jillian. It would be weird for Ed to make a big fuss about leaving, and to come back, just to get booted two episodes later...

That's why I spit out my diet coke at his opening line to Jill "From what I've recently heard about you I am impressed". Jake, who I think they were trying to line up intially for F1, got to come back for more episodes in the good cowboy/bad cowboy showdown. Michael is supposedly in line for a role on ABC's All My Children. Reality Steve had somethign about 4 guys being offered money, but I know nothing about that and kinda doubt it. as for why they wanted to go, I don't know if it's Mel/Jill or just circumstances. But I do know they were scrambling to keep guys post casting. I know this because they hounded Meli for a while to change her mnid. Now I personally like Meli a great deal, and think she's physically gorgeous (especially in person and w/o makeup) and quite smart, but even I agree Jill is better suited for this show. She's more assertive, more self assured, less insecure, and less likely to fall in love. I mean Meli was the last to even speak to Jason, and this show needs a diva type to run the show. Not quite Meeanna, but...

Melissa Rycroft went on The Bachelor for exposure- hoping to get a tv job. And she did get 2 gigs: Dancing With The Stars and now working for the ABC morning show (segment reporter). Jillian went on the show for fun and adventure.
