So my local news came on after the show and they're reporting on the thirteenth murder of the year at Wellington Apartments.
It will never end. |

So I stayed unspoiled, and the ending really worked for me. When they returned from commercial at the FBI office with Shea and Madison, I knew there had to be
more to the story, but I was actually surprised and happy to see the hotness that is Jimmy alive.
Of course, the bastard in me kinda wishes the remaining islanders had been evacuated to the mainland, the coast guard had left the island, and Jimmy had died in the fall, so after Abby killed Henry, she was abandoned and alone on Harper's Island, with no way to return to the mainland and no hope of anybody coming back to find her. That's an ending I think we all would have found more satisfying. |

What a fucking awful ending. Good god. Worst. Writing. Ever.

That was predictable, save for Shea and Madison making it out alive.

Wow, that was horrendously bad.
The best they could come up with to explain why Jimmy was still alive was that Henry wanted him to sign some cockamamie confession? For whose benefit? He already went to the trouble of faking his and Jimmie's deaths, and he'd already framed Jimmie for the murders before Shea and Madison escaped. I can see why they put the two episodes together. The entire last hour was anticlimax and predictable (the Darth Vader ending was oh so predictable), the most poorly written episode of the entire series (which is saying a lot), full of monologuing (the hallmark of a lazy writer) and agonizingly slow. And they even left the sequel open by hinting that Wakefield might not even be dead. |

So I haven't read this thread for the past 2 weeks to stay un-spoiled...
and I can say that I thought the finale was pretty good although the first half dragged a lot, and it sucked seeing Trish and Sully die of course Henry as the killer was pretty obvious from the very beginning the ending was pretty creepy/brilliant tho, that actor who played Henry was a much better choice than that Ryan Merriwhatever |

quick refix. I would have had an Abby like character killed at the end of the first episode. Had the Cal and Chloe B characters grow to A characters, and I
guess keep this Wakefield thing then. No obvious Henry thing. Sully helps Shea off the island and blows up in the boathouse. Cal and Chloe are the last ones
left and we know they'll make it out -but alas they don't and die in the same manner on the bridge. Wakefield is left alone on the island, goes to the
church to read a letter left for him from his child, and then gets whacked in a similar manner with the headspade.
Later on, Shea and Madison learn no survivors. Shea is the heir to the Wellington furtune. Flashback to Wakefield reading the letter written by who we think is his child (Jimmy/Henry -doesn't matter) -but something in the letter allerts the viewer it was Shea -something where it still incriminated Jimmy or Henry or some other random person and Shea gets away with it all. |

I knew the ending would be a disappointment. :-( Shame- it started out with such promise. I think the idea of a murder mystery series like this is a good idea,
but I think it could have had a more creative ending.

They needed to have Wakefield just stay dead in my mind.
Just, not having him alive alone, would be way better. Beth didn't even get a line in the wedding video, what the heck? |

The final episode of both Harper's Island AND Harper's Globe were both major letdowns.

At the end, I cared about Sully, Danny, Trish, Abby and Jimmy, which is more than I would have expected just a few weeks ago.

I'm on the fence. The entire series could have been so much better, but I admit that Henry being bat-shit crazy was epic. I was particularly saddened with
Trish & Sully. Complete agreement about Danny and the paperweight-thingy. I was yelling at the television for him to push it out of the way, but it seemed
that he was just panicked.
The actual finale should have been two hours with a play-by-play as to what happened, but that's just me. They could have done a lot with explanations of Henry's "feelings" about killing people, his feelings during childhood, etc. The wedding video would have been great with all the bridesmaids, Wellington and Katherine and Richard, etc. Harper's 2 idea: Shea gets revenge on Abby. Love it. |
