I finally finsihed the series today. I liked it! Henry reminded me of Norman Bates (as played by Anthony Perkins) in the finale.

im going through serious withdrawls here, I haven't bought a DVD in years (never bought a DVD series either) so where do they sell DVD's for series

Blueberry wrote: Yeah, I meant that they either didn't exist or weren't as big characters, like Julia and Karena. I said written before the recast, not shot. And Booth was a bigger character before the recast. Only the people with bigger parts (aside from locals and family members) were in the video.

I have a feeling the original story was an actual horror story and they turned it into a murder mystery to give it more appeal

I'm so sad this thread is dying
Re: the wedding video, Karim said that everyone did one and that they were improvised. I thought so from watching them - it was poignant because you could tell the actors weren't as sure of their characters yet, ie didn't know exactly what they were getting themselves into, and of course neither did the characters. Unfortunately it sounds like the other ones won't be on the DVD. Maybe some people's weren't very good or were out of character. I think they probably included all the groomsmen but not the bridesmaids because they were the ones who had relationships with and were therefore betrayed by Henry. It would have been nice to see JD and Uncle Marty for that same reason, though JD would probably never do one of those. I did find it interesting that Henry said "I love you" during the video, but if you pay close attention he almost never said it to Trish during the show. She said it multiple times and he always replied with a kiss or a smile or a joke of some sort. One time I did notice he said it was right after they had loud sex in the first episode. Maybe since the video and that scene were filmed before he knew he was the killer, he improvised them and the producers didn't want to tell him not to say it. |

I forgot to add - thanks to whoever posted the link to the original pilot script a few pages back! If anyone has any complaints about the writing of the show
we watched, just read that to see how far it came. That dialogue was PAINFUL. It was interesting to see some of the changes that were made too, all of which I
think were for the better. Booth was originally named Shep, Nikki's character was originally a combination of Nikki and Kelly (she was covered in tats and
hooked up with JD), the Candlewick was the Candlewood, The Cannery was The Tavern (wow, imaginative), Chloe had a much more involved flirtation with Uncle
Marty, AND she cheated on Cal with Sully. There was also way too much exposition and things were just introduced and transitioned clumsily. It really makes you
appreciate the final product more.

I was thinking while watching the finale that Shea/Madison escaping then being briefed by the FBI that no one survived would have been an awesome final scene
had Shea actually been the killer and gotten away with it.

Redhead6 wrote: Thanks. Some other stuff that was in the original pilot. Abby is accosted by the gardener in the hedge maze with the hedge trimmers. She thinks that the gardener resembled Wakefield but it is a different person. Uncle Marty's cash was not included in the original pilot. The pilot included the scene where Abby discovers her father's shrine to Wakefield in the attic. Abby (25) is a year older than Henry/Trish (both 24). Uncle Marty was on the beach with a woman that he picked up at the piano bar of the Inn before he was murdered. Uncle Marty was murdered with hedte trimmers rather than a head spade or a sword. |

Also, Cousin Ben was tied up but with his feet facing the blades. It said the propellers turned him into fish food from the bottom up. Ick. That was probably
considered too gory for television and was changed to a simple beheading.

We should start a fantasy Harper's Island (or rather, Harper's Fantasy island, if you will)-- reboot the show but kill in a different order, with a
different outcome.
For one, I would keep Harry Hamblin for a lot longer. His lecherous character had a lot of potential. |
