Three tracks from shoegazers My Bloody Valentine leaked early today. The band, which has not released any proper music since 1991's Loveless, is
currently playing few and far between dates throughout North America and Europe. Frontman Kevin Shields asserts the band is working to update previously
recorded material as well as to produce new songs, though many fans are hesitant to believe this.
I saw the band last autumn and their performance ranks as one of the best I've ever seen. Loveless is a masterpiece, but I would like to hear new music from the band before our inevitable nuclear holocaust. Hearing these tracks, as old and fuzzy as they are, gave me hope that this is a possibility. I don't think we can ever expect MBV to be a new-record-every-three-years type of band, but after 18 years I'd love to see how the sounds in their heads have changed.
Anyone else take a listen? I saw a poster waiting for the songs "to be properly released" but you know... Good luck with that.
