Jillian did not pick Reid according to the spoilers that just came out from the After the Final Rose taping. For example, I'm not sure which is better - all the posts of people crying or all the posts saying Reid dodged a bullet when hours ago they were openly praying that Jillian picked Reid. She didn't misdirect them, the ending is just not the one they had planned. ETA: Eww...just found this: I think that makes a lot of sense. We also have to keep in mind that at the time, Jill viewed (and perhaps still does) Ed as a "catch", and a good choice, and had no clue that the Reid love would be so over the top that even 8-year old girls would want him.
