Amykins tocuhed a lot of people around here, wether good or bad. People genuinely mourn the death of the shiniest goldfish. I'm pretty sure no one would miss you. |

This is very sad news. Amy was a nice person and hands down took the insults and flames here better than any other poster. She was so optimistic.

I missed most of the Amy era at Sucks but I did catch some of her posts (and pictures) and she always seemed like a sweetheart.
Glad so many of you got to know her. I only wish Weems could have gotten to know her better. My condolences to her family and friends. |

k so now that i can post...
all i can say is this proves that the good die young. the rest of us evil assholes here will probably live to be 90 but amy only got 25 years. but i think she'd be really really glad that so many people have felt her love because love's what she was all about--she loved and cared about her dog or people she only knew from the internet more than a lot of people care about their own family members, that's how full of unconditional love she was. there arent very many people like that in the world, but being lucky enough to know just one makes us that much richer goodbye amy <3 you really will live on in my heart |

This is truly the definition of "tragic."
Amy's life was far too short. While we know that she gave much to the world in those few years, we can only imagine what acts of kindness she might have gifted to those around her had she been given a full complement of years in which to spread her unique brand of happiness and her joyful outlook. We teased her often for being corny and silly and "full of flowers." In the face of this, she never gave up trying to teach US that life is, in fact, very beautiful and very precious. To attempt such a thing here... in this place where cynicism and rudeness and callous disregard rule the day... well, THAT is very brave indeed. Once I sent Amy a private message to let her know that my comments on the board were just an act. I told her something like: "Don't tell anyone but the truth is... I like you." She said she liked me, too. I hope she meant that. Because it is a GREAT compliment to be liked by a woman of Amy's caliber. If she was a friend to YOU, consider yourself blessed. Amy was one of the most genuine women I've ever come across on a message board. She never backed down. She never pretended to be something that she wasn't. She shared her true self with us from the very start, using her real photo and giving details about her life. And most importantly, Amy shared her heart with us. And what a BIG heart it was! I firmly believe that Amy "GOT IT" -- was in on the joke here. I think she played along and took the jibes in the spirit in which they were (mostly) intended. I HOPE she had a good time "meeting" all of us crazies here. If WE made her laugh or smile or helped her feel part of a community -- job well done. Amy clearly knew that OT is not a place for the emotionally weak. She stayed here because she was NOT emotionally weak. In fact, I think she was far stronger than most of us ever gave her credit for. If you want to do something in honor of Amy, might I suggest you take some time to go out and spread a little JOY into the world? Love one another. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. That's the Golden Rule. And that IS what Amy was all about. Pick a flower. Pet a dog. Hug your Mom. Tell your spouse you love them. Do it for Amy, OK? You will be truly missed, dear girl. Catch you on the other side, OK? |
