So much political incorrectness in this episode. The horrible indian outfits with the terrible dance. Then giving puppies as prizes. That's just horrible. This is south louisiana...we do things a little different here.

I'm just able to watch the eisode. This pageant was held in my city! I pass that hotel twice a day to and from work. So now i'm looking around the
audience seeing if there's anyone I know! Thankfully...I don't know a soul!

Totally agree grapes. This was the first episode where the kids seemed to really be enjoying themselves, and the parents weren't "nasty pushy." Yes, they all seemed really trashy and kinda backwards, but you could tell they cared about their kids, which is rare for this show. |

This is the very time I have ever watched an episode. Jayla's dad? WTF? So, he claims he is straight and his fat wife believes it?

Of all the gin joints in all the world - this one is the one I feel most horrified by
watching yet strangely attracted to! It's like crack! Jayla's dad - Almost heaven - West Virginia - wtf? By the way - I missed who won as I kept switching back between this and Rays beating Boston's butt! Then sadly, my sad old arse fell asleep! |

Jayla's dad is such a queen.
The mother giving her kid coffee. WTF? I love the editing of this thing though. They go out of the way to make everyone look obnoxious. I think those big chunky highlights make the fat moms feel thinner |

Was there a mom/judge at that last pagent that weighed under 200 pounds?!?!

No, all the moms are morbidly obese, living out their fantasies thru their children.
What I don't like is the children are too young to really have a say or to know any better- they are being used by their redneck ugly parents. As a parent, the worst thing is to have to force your child to do something under pressure- sometimes it can't be helped- did you ever try to dress a kid for the professional photographer for example? Or try to get a kid to sit still? Or put something on that they don't want to put on? It is so, so stressful- trying to get a little kid to look perfect. Forcing your child to put on eyeliner when they are throwing and fit- "but you HAVE to"..no they DONT have to, it's a fucking stupid pageant. The kids don't understand what it is really about and they are being forced to be in a cultural oddity which is a freak show costume contest. All the nails and make up and hair and clothes and shoes- it all has to be perfect and takes hours to apply- this is not the way to spend your childhood- what does this get them? Oh yeah "confidence" fuck me. Trying to get them all perfect- this is what the parents transfer onto their kids- that type of stress when the kids can't do it themselves, so it becomes a constant battle- how can that be enjoyable? Plus the kids are too young to say Fuck You this is Bull Shit mom so they are being used, it sickens me. |

And it's not like the kids develop any real skills from the pageants. Kids doing dance or cheer or sports get exercise and are learning a sport or to
dance. And the teen pageants at least teach public speaking and reward real talent. But these pageants are essentially a costume contest and the "stage
skills" that the kids get are the opposite of what real kids on stage need. The "modeling" isn't real modeling. The scoring seems to be
based on the amount of money you spent getting the items that are the most perfect.
And the kids all seem emotionally or developmentally stunted. I have a five year old and she'd never act like those brats do backstage and neither would her friends. She's doing dance and they get all in the makeup and everything and have to wait forever at recitals but she doesn't act like those brats. |

I took me fucking forever to figure out HTF Makynli was supposed to be pronounced. I was sitting tehre trying to sound it out and thinking it was some Eastern
European name. Just spell it "McKinley" for fuck's sake! In 20 years the poor kid is going to be on the phone with Vera Bradley ordering a
quilted purse and she's going to have to spell that shit out 5 times.

yeah meatball, i agree, it's not good when parents force their kids into sports but at least they learn something socially valued and get exercise.
So Pageant Dad is the spitting image of Corky St. Clair in Waiting for Guffman (Christopher Guest)

Flying in for a pageant? Okay. Why not just travel the globe, like Kung Fu?
I loved that they tanned the black kid, too. Stripper kid was hilarious. It's like she's totally in on the joke. Great sense of humor. Her mother doesn't have a clue. |
