I was mean to Amy, FOREVER. But she never broke down except to laugh at me. So eventually I figured "she may be an ass-hat, but she's OUR ass-hat," and I let it go. And I let her make me laugh (except for the times she made me GROAN).

FWIW, when I found the absolute proof that it was real (not the obit, stuff more concrete), I cried. So much so that my husband had to ask me what was wrong and I had to explain. She was so freaking young and so freaking stupid, but her mind was so open there was hope that she may have learned a thing or two and become somebody spectacular if she'd been given the chance. She was deeply sincere. And she could laugh at herself. Not much more you could hope from for somebody her age. She had her moments of kindness. And she seemed to actually care about online people.

Do I think she should be canonized? Hell no. Do I think she should be mourned? As a mother of a daughter I say hell yes. She was sweet. Gotta give her that.

You can blast me, but that's a sincere eulogy. So fuck off.

Kimbob -- that was very sincere and so true. When the post about her death was first made, I didn't want to believe it. I wanted it to be another one of those hoaxes. When the threads about her being sick were posted I remember a stupid thread by "Amy'sMother" or something like that claiming that her daughter was dead. It was just another joke thread and it was quickly pushed to page 2 or locked, I don't even remember. What I do remember was that it made the threads about her being sick a joke and nothing to be taken seriously by those of us who didn't know her as anything other than a name on a screen.

I didn't want Amy to be real. I really wanted her to be a kiddiot-shared-nic as was often said. I think deep down I still do. I want the "ghost" to jump out and point at all of us and say "HAHA!! GOTCHA!!" I wanted that. I WAITED for that. The alternative was too much to consider. But as the likeliness of that happening drifted further and further away, it has forced us all to realize that a vibrant, off-the-wall, young lady is gone. Gone for almost 2 weeks before any of us thought to ask where she was.

I never spoke to her, but I read so many of her posts and thought WTF??? LOL!!! She was a unique girl and was never afraid to say exactly what was in her mind. I think her outlook, and her ability to take all the crap OT had to dish out with a smile and a laugh shows that she was truly special. I really can't think of anyone else here who has taken as much crap and not broken. No wonder some of us couldn't believe she was real.
