I just expected to watch Kathy and laugh at silly stuff, so I wasn't prepared for something so serious. The whole gay bashing/killing thing in real life just upsets me so much I just couldn't watch. Anyway, it looks like Kathy got an episode to submit to get an Emmy nomination.

Snap their fingers to the camera and do some typical eunich shit from Will and Grace to entertain on camera? They were just kids in a shelter. They were all special in their own way. Bless them. <3 It's funny to think that in Kanada, gae marriage has been legal since 2003 nationwide and nobody really cares about it, yet, you fly 5 hours to Cali and it's a huge issue.

Agreed, the 'boring teen' comment was ridiculous. These are kids from very fucked up situations who haven't done a thing wrong. They were perfectly awkward and shy the way most teens on camera would be. What were people expecting High School Musical? It made me happy that programs like this exist for them and grateful that my parents are proud and excited to have a big old gay married son. My husband and I have been together for 11 married for 3 now... I've been waiting for society to crumble around me but it has yet to happen. On our first trip to the States after we were married the customs agent asked our relationship and we said 'married'... he immediately replied, "No, you're not." and made us go to separate agents. Luckily, we found it funny and entertaining. He was so gruff and unhappy I could only pity him. I'd hate to be a customs agent.

Crossing the border by car is the worst, they are so bitter and full of it. Just to go to Buffalo once I was interrogated about my whole life for no reason at all. Most of them are on powertrips.

He's my husband, we got married (12 yrs ago), and I've never allowed anyone tell me different. Legal? We've done what we can with power of attorney and so on (live in Nevada for the moment) but ultimately I'm not giving the power of language over to the government, too. Congrats, Shiza! As a homeless teen in Houston in '88, hooking down in Montrose area, I would have LOVED for the kind of thing Kathy was supporting to have been there for me. Sure, they're boring, but I'm so happy they have people who will help them move past this part into the next. (Steps down off soapbox)

Unabridged (I think) means the person reads every last goddamn word in the actual book. Abridged means it's condescened down but not just excerps. My understanding is that they'll take shit out of some books like lots of adjectives that may not have anything to do with the outcome or plot.
