THR: Now that the season is over, do you prefer "The Apprentice" as a one-hour show or would you rather NBC continued stretching it
to two hours next season?
Burnett: I loved the two-hour "Apprentice." Everywhere I went during "Apprentice," people came up to me and were so
opinionated about everything from Dennis Rodman, Joan and Melissa Rivers ... it went on and on and on. That's when I knew we had lightening. No one ever
said to me "it felt too long." We have a great team and we're fully ready to continue with the two-hour format.
THR: There were some discussions at NBC about whether or not the show would return to the "everyday people" format next season or
continue with a celebrity cast.
Burnett: I think we could do both. I don't think that we'd just go and do a regular one but I think we could alternate seasons with
it. There's certainly a real place there for finding people who've lost jobs but who are really smart and driven -- it's just a bad economy -- and
that would be a good thematic season: giving people another chance. On the other hand, "Celebrity Apprentice" has done so well, there's no way
we're going to move off that right now. Only a fool would chance success.
I think with the success of the celebrity format, with the casting notice that was posted up three months ago for one day then taken down, and the bad economy
that NBC may announce the return of the regular version Wednesday at the TCA Press Tour. And they don't have any other programs to air. What does everyone
else think?

Of course I'd be for it.
But considering they're putting Leno on for five days a week and had to get rid a couple of shows that were decent for NBC's horrible standards, where would they put it? We sure as hell won't see it until probably 2011 unless they decide to go with Fall/Spring versions again like so many other shows. Of course, last time they did a regular season, it was a fucking travesty and I developed eye cancer watching it. |

Yesterday at the press tour NBC's reality head Paul Telegdy stated that he and Mark Burnett are still open to the idea of resurrecting the traditional
Apprentice but for now it will stay as Celebrity as it revingorated the series.

Makes sense for now I guess, but I really hope they just do regular edition in the fall and celeb edition in the spring. They can really get a good hook with
the whole economic downturn and perhaps even try to elevate the show to season 1 quality (ahahahaha, yeah right).

18 people who were fired or laid off in this economy. It can be 18 big buisness Lehman brothers type people...18 detriot gm worker types...9 vs 9....whatever I think it would be awesome and totally catch on. Donald cold opening in a helecopter: "There are thousands of good workers recently laid off for reasons beyond their power...I have brought 18 men and women who, if not for this economy, would still have jobs they worked hard to get and deserve and reward them with a job in my organization. They will be divided into two teams: Have and Have nots (or whatever). The "Haves" are 9 men and women who all have been let go from big buisness' and the "have nots" are 9 men and women who are all great workers who are all blue collar workers let go. Who will succeed...who will fail...and who will be THE APPRENTICE" |
