I have to say, it seems weird to sit through an entire season of dancing just to get to the final result of Jeanine. I'm not saying she's not good,
it's just anti-climactic.

As far as my favorites go, Josh > Sabra > Jeanine >>>>>>> Benji.
I'd say that as far as talent goes, all four are pretty evenly matched. None really lucked out and they were all pretty strong. I think Jeanine may have had it hardest, simply for being paired with Cheeb, but on the other hand his S4 popularity probably helped safeguard her for the first few weeks until she got the judges' approval. Sabra may have had it hardest once she hit F10, simply because all of the Top 8 girls had personality and popularity. |

Good result. Jeanine was super sexy and drew me in when she danced, so I'm glad she won, and glad that the superior male Brandon, was the top guy dancer
(if he couldn't win).

Congrats to Jeanine. I'm glad an initial cannon-fodder contestant ended up winning.
Talia's solo was incredibly disappointing. I don't understand why Sonya did that routine. Its kind of hard to be amazed by that solo....you know when half of the routine she is just sitting on the floor. Also, I don't understand why she didn't go en pointe. She is amazing en pointe (a lot better than Melissa that's for sure). I wanted to see her do her piourettes. sigh. Loved to see Maksim and Asuka back. Nigel, why do you keep on screwing over your ballroom dancers? |

The midget finishing higher than Kayla <3 <3 <3.
Brandon. I'm fine with Jeanine I guess. HATE. |

Jeanine was a phenomenal dancer and her victory was well deserved.
I still just don't think that Even deserved to be anywhere near the Final 4...but whatever. And I think the "Judges' Choice" dances really highlighted the strong numbers of the season, with the exception of that bad NappyTabs Hip Hop with Jeanine and Phillip. |

Hey, they didn't mention any kind of special prize for Brandon for being the top guy, did they? If fucking Katee got $50K and Brandon got stiffed, I'll
be pissed!

Looks like the "Top Girl" prize for Katee was a Katee only prize, right? Glad they're back to ranking the Top 4. That was THE surprise of the night. Followed closely by the "sexy girl" actually winning. Rarely happens on a lot of shows I follow. |

Ameriker got it right. Jeanine has a "favorite dancer" personality. There was some amazing talent this season, but some poorly timed choreography. If
Nigel wanted to craft a Janette win, he should have put the cancer dance earlier in the season. Oh well. I was a Jeanine fan for a while, so I'm happy with
the win.
Loved seeing Maks and Kayla do that samba again, a true samba, which I adore! Maks was an expert partner, you can totally see it. Also loved Brandon/Janette's disco, and that Calle Ocho piece, which was SMOKIN. Loved it. But my season favorite is the addiction number. Kayla and Kupono were born to dance that. Perfection. |

I liked Phillip. I think being paired with him, made people notice her. Her and Janette were too much a like intially. Good dancers, but both with dark hair
and the similar names. I think that it helped that she was the J with Phillip and Janette became "Miami".

Overall decent season, some good moments. Katie Holmes was definitely the jump the shark moment of the series though.
I'm not sure anyone has mentioned it, but I found the judges more tolerable this season. Of course they had to go and fuck it up with that surprise "dance" performance in the finale. So smug. One great thing about Season 5 was the group dances. I liked them more than most of the couples dances. I still think Wade's crash test dummies dance was one of the best of the season, if not the best. (I agree that Mia's addiction piece was very strong though). I also loved Mia's finale piece for Kayla and Jeanine. I have always been a huge fan of Mia's edgier, more bizarre and less emotional pieces. I don't want to hate on Sonja Tayeh, she seems like a cool person, but I'm kind of over her choreography. The exact same thing happened to Mandy Moore in Season 4. Oh and don't even get me started on the choreography for Talia. Seriously what the fuck. I watched every episode of SYTYCD AUS season 2, and if any of you have doubts over Talia, head over to YouTube and watch a few episodes. Charlie, the runner-up, is awesome as well. It bothered me a bit when the judges were naming the best dancers of every season and they didn't mention Allison. She is still the best female dancer ever on this show. I still remember the Season 2 Vegas week episode where the judges were tallying scores and they told Allison that she had aced everything. Finally, Jeanette rules. Jeanine's cool though, and is a solid dancer. Congrats to her. |

So You Think You Can Dance: Jeanine Mason's Not Just A Wonderful Dancer
Friday, August 07, 2009
As we all know by now, America has a new favorite dancer: Jeanine Mason. But
we're learning this morning, Jeanine is much more than America's Favorite Dancer...she's also a survivor of a rare illness and the co-founder
(and now major donor) of an Alzheimer's Charity.
According to an exclusive interview with TV Guide Magazine, last year Jeanine was diagnosed with Pigmented Villondular Synovitis (PVNS) a rare diseases which creates inflammation in the joint linings. While the disease often attacks the knees, Jeanine's first symptoms were in her left elbow, which she could not straighten. Over the past year and a half, Jeanine had two surgeries and radiation treatment to treat the illness, something she never discussed on air or during her time on So You Think You Can Dance. That Jeanine never relied or attempted to garner support with an inspirational and sad story, unlike some other competitors makes me love her even more. Jeanine describes the health scare as "a jolt" and that it made her a stronger person and much more grateful. If that, and her charming sense of humor weren't enough to make us adore Jeanine. (Her line about thanking the Academy last night? Priceless.) She's also decided to donate some of her $250,000 winnings to an Alzheimer Charity she started with her sister in the memory of her grandfather who died with the illness. How wonderful that not only a great dancer won last night, but as we're learning, an amazing human being. Congrats to Jeanine! |

It all just goes to show that people were worried about plants, rigging, pimping, undeserved praised, magic bullets, etc., for NOTHING.
How come Lil C left the judges table and didn't appear in the Chorus Line number? |

That's awesome to read something good about a reality show contestant. Good for Jeanine not using sympathy but talent to try to win one of these shows.
I'm looking at you Gokey.
