Mine Jetta drops to 38ish mpg when I turn on the air.

Plants have plenty of carbon. Yeah, now. Why you wanna' take it away from them? Environmental terrorist. |

Plants will have plenty of carbon dioxide for a long time to come. Whether these same plants will receive water and a survivable range of temperature is much
more open to question as drought and temperature change in the biosphere is a direct result of radically increased concentration in the atmosphere.

That's an excellent point. Global warming is resulting in cooler temperatures and fewer Hurricanes to water those plants.

Global warming results in more sunlight being traped within our ozone, higher temperatures in most places, more eratic patterns of natural phenomena, illness,
drought, famine, and changing topography.

CO2. Embrace the CO2. Ozone filters out ultraviolet light.
It's like you get so close to saying something that's almost factual and then you blow it with a huge boner. Oy. |

You never learned about global warming or the greenhouse effect, delos.
CO2 and other carbon compounds aren't 'hot' within themselves. Rather, they become a particle obstacle course for the Sun's rays of light and heat which most commonly hit the earth and then bounce back off into the universe. But, with a greater concentration of particles in Earth's atmosphere, the greater the probability for collision and decreased probability that those collided particles will have enough energy left required to bounce back off into the universe. Thus, more heat becomes trapped within our atmosphere much like a greenhouse. |

You must be some kind of troll that pretends to be stupid. Yes, CO2 is a greenhouse gas. Ozone is not. Monoatomic atoms (one atom) and most diatomic atoms (two
atoms) like ozone do not support the vibrational modes that block infrared and let visible light pass. CO2 is not a diatomic gas since it has three atoms and
it does absorb or attenuate the transmission of infrared radiation.

Is there any left wing agenda you don't buy hook, line, and sinker? I, for example, am pro-choice. Whachoo got?

In all honesty, I don't think science is a left-wing agenda.

In all honesty, that doesn't answer the question.
Why can't lefties answer a simple goddam question? |

To ensure that vehicles traded-in under "Cash For Clunkers" will not be resold by dealers, the program outlines a procedure for destructively disabling the engine (and thus also precluding the possibility that any mechanical engine components might be salvaged to be used in the repair of any other vehicles): The motor oil is drained and replaced with a sodium silicate solution, then the engine is started and run until the solution, becoming glass-like when heated, causes engine internals to abrade and ultimately seize.[34] In addition, the salvage or scrap facility which acquires the vehicle cannot sell any powertrain components from the scrap vehicleSo we're taking functioning cars and fucking them up and paying people? Got it. This reminds me of when they'd dump all kinds of crops in the water to boost the value of crops. Well, not reminds me in an "I remember that" sense, but in an "I remember reading about that" sense. |

thus also precluding the possibility that any mechanical engine components might be salvaged to be used in the repair of any other vehicles the fuck? Why? |

They are supposed to be crushed, and the steel cubes of perfectly wasted cars will go to China no doubt.
It really doesn't make any sense at all. |

squashthebeef wrote:As certain parts of the world get warmer - due to ozone depletion, drought, time of the month for Mother Nature, whatever - impacts of excess carbon dioxide are felt worse than they otherwise would be. In the short run some areas get a cooling effect and some get a warming effect. But the biggest impact is on the oceans in that they overall warm so that storms become more intense. Its not that things happen but that things happen with a wider variety and less predictability. Al Gore is full of donuts and his stats are as fixed as Sarah Palin's kiddos post Bristol. We arent going to die in 50 years - this stuff also happens in cycles at least in part due to the impact of our Sun and its mercurial self. But we should be a little concerned. All that said - I still will never buy nor drive a Chevy Volt |
