I felt the same way about the waltz. They had raved about every crap routine before hand, and then give a lukewarm reaction towards something that I thought was much more enjoyable to watch than most of what I had to sit through beforehand.

I hope they start giving more realistic critiques next week (doubtful), and that this week was just premiere excitement. Here's hoping everything is better, and that Mel B and Austin make a good couple. At this point, she really has to step it up, because a lot of people resent her, and will be very unforgiving of any mistakes. I'm actually very surprised at the anger of Tatiana's elimination (not here, but at other places). She hardly had any hype before the show, given the mediocre audition and everything, but now people are acting like she is the greatest female hip-hop dancer to ever grace the Canadian show. It's really odd, because she seemed like a nice girl, but her solo was no where near as good as people make it out to be.

I hope the judges made the right decision with Mel B, and she did say that she trained in contempory/jazz for many years and has only done ballroom for less than two years before the show. That could mean she can kill a lyrical routine (and she has trained in hip-hop). So she could turn out to be like Sara from S3 (who was not much of a b-girl), and only presents herself as a latin dancer to seem different. Or she could just suck, we'll see. Her and Austin seem like they could be a great couple.
