Wow, this first para is ridiculous. You're essentially saying "It's okay, most of the world doesn't have rights and have to settle for whatever they can get, so why not gays and lesbians?". So you know, you don't have the right to marry somebody of your choosing - particularly if they're not available or disinterested! (Otherwise I totally call dibbs on Jake Gyllenhaal.) Worse is suggesting them "settling" for the opposite gender that (who, in most cases they're not even remotely attracted to) as a "tolerable option". If you're a lesbian, I'm pretty sure when you think "settling" you perceive that as settling for a blonde when you're usually attracted to brunettes... not settling for a life/legal binding with a man when you're attracted to women.

If you love oranges and abhor apples, it wouldn't be fair to have a supermarket full of apples (where you're denied oranges) tell you: "Hey, you could always get an apple, just like everyone else does." No, you want a fucking orange! And it's not like oranges are inaccessible - it's just people say "Well, over the past hundreds of years, the trend has always been apples. We know there are several people who love oranges, and yeah we could easily get them some, but why mess with convention for the sake of the minority?"

This being said, Ashley's ranting put me off. Just cook the fucking meal. They are two people requiring you to make food for their respective parties - two people who happen to be getting married. It's not like you're catering for the Phelps.
