Go figure, the one year Miss USA doesn't fall, she gets cut.

I'm not gonna complain since the f2 on Miss USA was orgasmic, but I'm ready for Miss USA to win. Christ, I can't even remember the last time she won. Although Shandi was fucking ROBBED by that Aussie Cuntess!

I was looking for information on which years Finland won (1952 and 1975) but I thought this leader board was interesting:

This search yielded more interesting results. Finland has had the most consecutive runners-up. For five years, from 1965 to 1969, its delegates placed among the five finalists without interruption (1965: Virpi Miettinen, first runner-up, 1966: Satu Östring, first runner-up, 1967: Ritva Lehto, third runner-up, 1968: Leena Brusiin, second runner-up, and 1969: Harriet Eriksson, first runner-up).

And I love all these controversies surrounding Miss Universe.

After winning the Miss Universe crown in 1974 Amparo Muñoz of Spain, relinquished her title six months into her reign. The first runner-up Miss Wales Helen Morgan became ineligible to succeed her because by then Ms. Morgan had won the Miss World 1974 pageant (where she represented the United Kingdom). By a twist of fate, Ms. Morgan ended up relinquishing the Miss World title several days into her reign when it was revealed she was an unmarried mother. With the resignation of Amparo Muñoz and with Helen Morgan deemed ineligible to succeed her, it was unclear why the title was not offered to the 2nd runner-up (also Miss Photogenic), Miss Finland Johanna Raunio, a crowd-favorite at the pageant.

Absent of an active titleholder to pass on the crown at the Miss Universe 1975 pageant, the Miss Universe organizers asked Kerry Anne Wells, Miss Universe 1972, to crown the new Miss Universe held that year in San Salvador, El Salvador. The controversy surrounding the Muñoz/Morgan/Raunio debacle the previous year (see previous bullet) was finally put to rest that evening when a stunning blonde beauty won the pageant-Miss Finland Anne Marie Pohtamo.

Nowadays all the Miss Finlands are just embarrassing...

So if the first Miss Universe was 1953 (actually selected in '52), that makes 56 contests with Miss USA at least a semifinalist in all but two of those...wonder what the two years were?

Just watched the pageant and then came on this board. Knowing the final 15, this post was especially ironic. Ha.

As for my thoughts:
-I didn't get the Kosovo love. She looked ridiculous and her answer to the final question exposed her ignorance (though admittedly, none of the answers were great). I'm tired of all the new country love-- Kosovo in the top 10 this year and last, Namibia winning the year after becoming a country, etc...
-I liked the DR, Australia, Czech Republic, and South Africa.
-I thought Venezuela's answer was a complete lie-- equality among men and women now? I'm sure Trump loves to believe that.
-I saw Venezuela's resemblance to Geena Davis, but I also thought she looked a bit like Natalie Portman.
-The performances were all wretched. I won't even talk about Heidi Montag, but Kelly Rowland sounded horrific and Flo Rida was just embarrassing. Another lame attempt to make the pageant seem modern.
-I agree that Mpule was the best winner.

One other question: who purchases the contestants' evening gowns? Are they donated, is it the $$ of the Miss Universe competition, or that of the national organizing bodies?

The USA failed to place in 1959 (after the semifinalists were announced, it was discovered that Leona Gage - the US rep - was married with children; they kicked her out before the competition resumed and replaced her with Miss Argentina), 1976 (Barbara Peterson - ironically, 1976 was the US's bicentennial), 1999 (Kimberly Ann Pressler), and 2002 (Shauntay Hinton).

All I can say to answer this that every year in Finnish newspapers the current Miss Finland complains how expensive it is to get all the outfits and how it's hard to find sponsors etc. I think she might have to foot some of the bill, because no one believes in their success anymore. That's how it's here. Maybe in countries that appreciate their representatives more it's the national organization...

Numbers for landing in 1st place. Color me SHOCKED.... of course Miss USA will always be 'in there'. It's so rigged. If Marge Simpson was in the pageant I'm sure she'd be runner-up or Miss USA... time to 'RELOCATE!' or cancel this mess of a show.

And it's ALWAYS been aired conveniently at 9 PM EST no matter where it is being held. It could be 5 am in some backward country hosting the show and they'd force them to have the pageant at that time so the US viewers get to see it live at 9 PM.
