I like to say they are behaving and being good for mom and dad. We don't like it when they try to scare us. I'm sure that will never end even when they move out of the house in 18 years or so.

Also with Rachel, they tried to put in a new PICC line, but they were unsuccessful so she will have it surgically put in tomorrow. She needs this PICC line for the TPN. Haley is still on the oscillator vent. The doctor suspects she has pneumonia. She was already on one antibiotic. They started her on another. We are faithful she will be make it through this challenge. We are so amazed everyday how strong and resilient they are. Even with all the challenges they are facing, they continue to fight. Before we know it we will be celebrating their one year birthday. What a glorious day that will be.

Haley is improving as well. She had a head ultrasound today and it showed no change so that means her head has not gotten worse. So they all seem to be hanging strong today. We are so grateful for these good days

Tonight we went to a NICU parent support group meeting. The topic of discussion was infant safety seats and how to install them correctly in your car. Since we have car seats for the babies already we wanted to go to this meeting to learn how to correctly install them in the car. I know this isn't something we needed to know right away since our girls will be in the NICU for quite some time, but we were interested in learning for when the time does come when they will come home. I learned quite a bit on how to properly install an infant car seat. I look forward to when we will be installing 3 car seats in the car and bringing them home

The first quote from the Stansels really made me believe they must still be in denial.

There is a very good chance they will have brain damage or other disabilities that might prevent them from living "normal" everyday lives and therefore they might not be able to move out of the house at 18. They might never "move out" in the traditional sense. Seems like they're just planning for the best outcome and haven't considered otherwise. They also obviously think they are out the woods and death isn't a possibility anymore for them.

How are these "steps forward" as she always claims they are making?

Everytime they post, they say they are getting better but those far it seems like the "good days" just means no more bad news. I guess going down a bit on the vent and giving them breast milk is "progress." However even that doesn't last long.

Lastly, I was really wondering what kind of information the doctors were giving them. Were they too painting a rosy picture of everything? Afterall, everytime they talk about meeting with the doctors they talk about "progress." However there was an article recently about the death of the third and it seems like they are being honest. Hence:

Amanda Stansel says she doesn't want to "jinx things" by arranging a nursery.
Once home, the babies will require monitors, oxygen machines and possibly IVs for feeding.

You know how they reported that the doctors told them they had an 85% chance of the babies being born healthy? I found that hard to believe even then. Now that we see how delusional they are and how much they are in denial, I wonder if the doctors didn't say that per say. Maybe they said that there would be an 85% chance of the babies being healthy if she was able to carry them to at least 28 weeks or more? However, that that was a stretch especially for her. Maybe they meant "healthy" as in not being diabetic like the mother or not having severe birth defects. Afterall, these are the people that report "good news" and "steps forward" and "progress" quite regularly. Even when it's obvious to most that that is not the case.

They said his parents are there on a mission from their church. So are they going to protest or spread the gospel? How much time do they have to relax if that is the purpose? That being said maybe we will get pics of her flashing her bossom for beads. You know, being "joyful" and trying to "let loose." Like Thomas said in his latest tweet, enjoy a "change of sceneray." J/K! But nothing is much a surprise with them anymore.

That being said shortly after the death of the last boy, Thomas twittered this:

I will miss my little man. I always wanted to be able to have a son here on the earth to play sports with, but I will have to wait for that.

Here's hoping he meant wait to play sports with a son in heaven. I hope he doesn't mean that they will try again later on and he hopes for a boy. Then again, nothing surprises me with them.

One last point, had anyone else noticed that in every interview whether on tv or in an article and in every picture it's the father that is fighting back crying or is somber. The mother on the other hand is either smiling or doesn't seem that upset. Everyone handles grief differently and reacts differently. It's just that if anything it's usually the other way around. It just makes me wonder if the mother is in more shock or denial. Maybe she doesn't understand as much about what is going on? Worst case scenerio, and heaven forbid, maybe she just isn't that maternal and the father will be the better parent. They are curious people in general.
