I think Jeff WAY overreacted. And there was nothing going on there that he doesn't do... seriously I think Jenny was threatened by him. He was charming a male prostitute and smart.

There is a LOT Of co dependency in the Jeff Lewis dynamic. Jett seems to have faded into the background and Traceee is not bright. Keeping Jenny and Zoila stars.

Seriously I used to do what Jeff did and I never had any personal assistants. I am sorry I didn't now!! But he is a really poor manager. And he needs someone who understands construction and remodeling.. I see why the other dude works.. he sticks with Interior Design and not retrofitting homes which is hard and can easily go crazy. Jeff doesn't have the real talent and skill to do this.. he liked his one at time homes and living in them.. and having done that as well ITS SUPER EASY and doesn't require the drama that Jeff creates.

Okay regarding the money.. Under California law the homeowner is only required to put in a minimum deposit a % of the total bid.. so she gave him 25K on a 100k job its what I would have taken.. then each week you draw against that so payments would be either another 25K and up to 10% is allowed to be held back as "insurance" or pay a specified amount not to exceed the job length. Job quote was 4 weeks, 100K total so therefore 25K each week. .that simple.

If the homeowner refuses to pay or whatever you can shut the job down and take all materials.. that is standard. He did the right thing and he should not front any money. Clients do this all the time which is why I got out of contracting.. I was not a bank financing their "vision"
