What really sucks is that the beginning starts out exactly the same as Tocantins. All the other themes start in their own unique way, but this one uses the
same sound effect as Tocantins. I don't know why Russ couldn't use something different, considering the rest of the song was somewhat unique.
But I agree that the last 20 seconds is the best part. It would have been nice to have a beat like that going throughout more of the theme. Bottom line -- it's not the best, but it's not the worst. P.S. You're welcome. |

I still need to get sold on it, but I could end up growing to love it like Guatemala's. I still can't understand why people hate the Tocantins theme;
deconstructed, it's still great.

Having downloaded it in full, I don't hate it. Definitely don't love it either. It's in the lower tier of
Survivor themes but ehhhh.

First time I heard it terrible after that it grew on me! But the way he put it together makes it seem like it would've been way better for Gabon than
Gabon's theme. Ill demonstrate with a vid later.

I am waiting to hear it during the premier... hopefully it sounds better that way. And I hope they actually show the damn thing tonite! According 2 most, Russ
fucked up again, I wish he had heard from fans that Gabon and Tocantins SUCKED. He should've done it more like Micronesia, Fiji, Vanuatu, and even Palau...
This is such a bummer...

I will give the theme some props for at least being pretty different to the generic Pacific island-type intro themes, but the Tocantins drum beats really hurt
it. They just don't sound that good in theme songs, plain and simple. I am disappointed in Russ this time around because he had so much to work with; the
Katinas are awesome, the first and last stanzas prove it. They could have been used much better.

I am sorry, but that theme SUCKED!!!! I can't believe Russ said it would new when it was just a recycled version of Tocantins! I just hate that he used the
drums and the flute sounds from Tocantins--- that was the worst part about S18 theme..... such a bummer! After three consecutive bad themes, I really don't
think Russ cares anymore.
