Yes, I agree that too many of them have been making it; but Ceviche is not just about throwing fish in with lemons and patting yourself on the back. I am going to do the usual and repeat myself: I have had horrible Ceviche, and Ceviche that almost made me orgasm. Those who find it pedestrian really don't know their shit. To me, a lot of the meat and potatoes dishes in this comp are actually more pedestrian... all you really need to know how to do is time the cooking right.

Maybe folks will be a little more chary about making it in the future now, which would be fine and dandy. Your other point is well taken, too. I thought Hector's exit was quite deserved because who the hell can't roast a hunk of meat properly?

Funny how people defend Gordon Ramsey for being hard-core, then wipe their ass all over these guys when they get aggressive. In that thread, everybody says, "He has every right to be so abusive" and "When you have that much at stake, you SHOULD be so aggressive in the kitchen!" Here, it's "Oh goodness me but Jen C skurrs me" and "Ashley is such a bitch for being angry that her pot was taken!" I realize I err on the other side of the equation; but let's try to be consistent, pipples. In the quickest way: Ashley's dish last night actually looked the tastiest, along with Bryan's and Laurene's quickfire dish. So I can handle her again, esp since she let go of the righteous indignation about all things queer.

And now that it has been mentioned, he does remind me of Princess Bride: "Anybody want a peanut?" I think THAT is why he makes me smile. Laurene had a bit of a comeback last night, though, and Ash and Ashley both have been on both sides of the equation. I rewatched the first season's last few eppies yesterday, and they all wanted to open restaurants. Wondering if they did not allow people with their own places back then, or if people with their own places were wary of a new show they knew nothing about. This year, it seems that nearly ALL have their own place or are quite established. That can take away from the audience identifiability factor; but to me it is exciting to see what they come up with (and I like that most of them are much more professional than in years past).

And again, you are saying EXACTLY what I accused you of: " Mattin could stay safe in the shade and throw some juice on his fish. " Making Ceviche is not about throwing juice on fish. Doing it in the heat like that could actually backfire (the heat could turn the fish quickly), which it did. In other seasons, people have taken the producers' challenge and spun it to make it easier for themselves and have been applauded. So really, you just never know.

One of them described a cattle ranch in broad daylight as "like a scene out of a horror movie" If only there was another film genre that might have made a better comparison... Though I already hated him for not including Jen in his description of the good chefs. Ashley should have been DISGUSTED that her brother wanted to talk to her about being a father, since women are excluded from fertilising eggs. Hypocrite.

So sad Mattin's gone but out of the three he deserved to go. If Jennifer or Laurine can win this shit it will be one of the better seasons.
