I live in Houston and for years worked near Kingwood TX which is NE of Houston. Russell sounds just like all the idiots that live in Dayton, Crosby, Cleveland and in East Texas (though most in East Texas have even WORSE accents). The east Texas Twang is a unique one in my opinion, it can sound a little cajun-y but it's, IMO, a unique accent.
I was always amazed at how people who live so close to a metropolitan area could sound so.... backwoods.
