Marisa calling out Russell at TC was fine. She had to defend herself. Her mistake was not asking the tribe how many of them had an alliance with him and
turning the vote at the last second for Russell.
She really wasn't gunning for Russell, she just voiced concern that he was going to jeopardize their alliance by being too chatty with everyone. Russell both made a good move and a bad move in the vote. Had he kept her loyalty and voted off Ashley, she'd stick by his side and maybe not find him slimy. But also if she stayed she could have kept on the track of not trusting him and voted him off.
Either way Russell can't come out of this smelling like roses after Marisa's defense at TC. The tribe is going to be wary of his double dealing. Natalie could have turned the vote on Betsy for saying she also didn't trust Russell before TC, but she didn't. That's another person, along with Betsy, who is onto his game.
But it's not the worst season ever. We still have great people left like Shambo and Betsy and maybe some hidden gems that will shine in the weeks to come.
